Chrysler 300C owners have reported 7 problems related to other fuel system tank mounting (under the other fuel system category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Tl the contact owns a 2005 Chrysler 300c. Immediately after the contact refueled the vehicle, it stalled several times before eventually operating normally. The contact indicated that the failure occurred regardless of the amount of fuel inside the fuel tank. The failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 140,000.

After filling tank with fuel, car smells from fuel. Fuel vapor comes out ac vents, fills cabin. Very bad after sitting parked. Odor fades and stops when fuel level reaches about 7/8 of a tank. Took it to mechanic and mechanic says he found fuel on top of starboard fuel pump. Fuel pump mounting bracket has hairline cracks in it. Needs complete replacement. This same problem and one related to the fuel pump seal are recorded in forums all over the internet. Why is there no recall? this is a very serious problem. Vehicle is currently awaiting repair parts. Apparently Chrysler (not nhtsb?) is aware of the problem as the local dealer ordered 500 replacement units for inventory. Vehicle is in NY and mechanic found 1 (one) available from san diego, California. I would say there is a problem with this part.

Similar to many other people's issues. I get fuel and then while driving the car will stall. Happens for a few days after I get gas not even a completely full tank. It becomes a very unsafe condition because I loose power steering and power brakes when it stalls. Why is Chrysler not doing anything about this as it clearly is a safety issue that they must be aware of. . Read more...
After refueling, vehicle will start moving and then engine "chokes out and cuts off . Acting as if I just put in bad fuel. I can sit and ideal and it will run just fine, I can race the engine and there is not problem. However, when I put it in drive, just as it seems to becoming out of 1st gear it chokes out and the engine shuts off. I accelerated to merge onto interstate highway, just after filling the tank, the engine chokes out and cuts off and my family was almost hit by a tractor trailer. Each time engine cuts off I loose brake and steering function. This is happening all the time now, when I fill the tank. I have been told there is no recall but many reports to Chrysler service.
On 2 occasions, 09/30/13 and 10/02/13 I filled my vehicle up with gas and within a mile of the gas station it started missing real bad and then shut off, once while merging onto interstate 95 and the other time on a less traveled road. On both occasions I was fortunate enough to pull to the shoulder and restart the vehicle. I took the vehicle to whitten bros Chrysler (richmond, va) a few days later and I was told that the gas canister was contaminated and needed to be replaced along with a detector and solenoid, total cost of $516 and was told the the gas tank needed to be replaced because of a defective valve in the tank. Seems the valve was stuck open and allowing gas to overflow into the canister. Since the valve is part of the tank and cannot be replaced a complete tank is needed at a cost of $1200 to $1500. The next week I called the service advisor at whitten brothers, michelle browne, and told her to go ahead and order the tank. She said it would take 3-5 days to be received and would call me when it was in. That night I read an article about a gas tank problem on the 2006 vehicles like mine and saw that if you did not fill the tank you should not have a problem with it shutting off. I figured for the amount of money I was going to have to spend I would go this route so I called and cancelled the order for the tank. I was told the tank order could not be cancelled but they would keep it in inventory. I have only put 600 miles on the vehicle since all this happened and have only put gas in it twice but did not fill it either time, only enough to get the gauge to about 3/4. I have to remember when I loan the vehicle to one of my sons to tell them whatever they do please do not fill the tank if they put gas in it.

For the last couple years, my Chrysler 300c would occasionally stall. Mostly it would be at lower speeds, but there have been multiple times the car would stall at highway speeds. I have spent a good amount of money trying to fix the issue. I just recently realized, it would occur when I had a full tank of gas. I have read that there is many other Chrysler 300 owners that have the same issue. It seems shocking that an issue like this could go this long without any warnings or recalls. I have been in many dangerous driving situations, due to this issue. . . I could see this issue becoming more of an noticable problem, due to the lower gas prices. I usually put in the same amount of money when I fill up. Not until more recently, with the lower gas prices, that amount fills my tank. That is why it took me this long to realize that it happens when I fill the tank.
For the past two years, my 2006 Chrysler 300c has been surging, trying to cut out, and stalling at the first several stop lights after filling the tank up with gas. Car stalls or tries to stall several more times while driving in traffic. Have come to realize that car will not do this if I only fill the tank up to 3/4 full, but if the tank is filled more than that, the same problem occurs after fill up. The car will try to stall when stopping at several of the first traffic lights, driving after restarting, or driving around curves. This seems rather dangerous driving like this in traffic. I just learned about the NHTSA pe13-016 that Chrysler had extended the warranty for the 19 gallon gas tanks to lifetime. I have also learned that Chrysler is only honoring a limited amount of vehicles whose owners had filed complaints before the investigation was ended. It appears Chrysler is not meeting it's obligation. I am the original owner of this car and have never received a letter from Chrysler dealing with any recall for this car.
