3 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 11/25/2020

When refueling my Chrysler 300c back to full capacity it will immediately stall out and shut off completely. The car will start right up again no problem, and continue to stall out while driving in traffic multiple times following until it burns off enough fuel to stop. I also have been smelling raw gasoline inside and outside the vehicle and the problem varies. The odor is highly potent coming from the passenger side rear. Never witnessed any fluid leaking underneath the car or noticeably in fuel tank gauge until this morning, it was leaking out from the trim panel underneath the rear passenger side .

4 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 10/03/2020

The fuel tank leaks fuel into the cabin amy any time the tank is filled more than half way up; that or any time it is more than a quarter full and driven on a steep hill. This has been happening for about 7 or 8 years or more now. . . It started in around 2012 I think, when the car had just over 100,000 miles on it. I am never able to fill up my gas tank because of it. , and if I need to go up or down a steep hill (and there are steep hills and driveways all over the area I live in), the fuel leaks into the car and the fumes are very strong.

5 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2011 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 08/20/2020

6 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 06/23/2020

When I fuel my car to full I start to drive and it stalls and will not restart. I brought it to the dealer and they said it is due to a faulty gas tank which is covered under a lifetime warranty extension u. S. D-14-05. They also said that it is possible that when they remove and replace the tank that the exhaust flex pipes could break which would require them to have to replace the pipes and the catalytic converters they are attached to. The estimated cost of this would be $3,300 and they would not cover this cost. This would mean that through no fault of my own if the warranty work is done and the dealership breaks the flex pipes I would be required to pay for the repair of those pipes and related parts. This is ridiculous, why would I have to pay for parts, which are fine now, but could be broken by the dealership when they do the warranty work? if you are going to extend a lifetime warranty on this defective part then why would you not cover the work and labor necessary to fix the problem especially if there are parts broken by the dealership when doing the work? there should be an additional cost coverage for all work done that is necessary to fix the problem not just the part and work to replace it as long as everything goes perfectly. If parts are broken by an authorized dealership when doing warranty work then those parts and the labor to replace them should also be covered. I am attaching the invoice from the dealership so that you can see the problem in their words. This is unacceptable! why would anyone have warranty work done if there are any other problems caused by the warranty work that are not covered. It does not say that these pipes are defective or worn it just says that they might break when doing the covered warranty work.

7 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

The vehicle was taken to bud clary auburn Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (2925 auburn way n, auburn, wa 98002) where the contact was informed that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was not taken back to the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 155,000.

8 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 04/12/2019

Car shuts down after getting a full tank at gas station at least 2 times.

9 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 12/01/2018

Once the vehicle has a full tank of gas, it'll stall or shut off when driving. When stopped, it'll rev itself as well.

10 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 10/12/2018

On my car when the gas tank is auto filled all the way, until it clicks, then it stalls out while driving and is very hard to restart since the vehicle has to come to a complete stop before you can attempt to restart. This has happened at least 10 times. The last time was while attempting to make a left hand turn onto route 29, within minutes of having left the gas station, and I lost control of my steering due to the fact that the car was not running any more. I was lucky I wasn't hit by another car when coasting it partly off the road. Since then, I have learned, as long as I don't fill the tank all the way full the stall outs don't happen.

11 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 03/27/2018

I filled my car up and within 5 miles it stalled. This has happened several times. Each time if I pull some fluid from the tank the car will remain running.

12 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 11/17/2017

This isn't the first time the car just shuts down when u fill the gas tank all the way up. I filled the tank and proceeded to drive and merge on to highway and without any lights or warning the car just shuts off on the highway while doing 65. I lost power and the vehicle is had to control. It took a second to start back up in the middle of the highway. This only happens when I fill the tank all the way up. It's an issue with the gas tank or a valve getting stuck open/closed in the tank. I filled the tank again and just waited at the gas station to see if it would happen again and it did. I waited about 2 minutes and the car shut off while sitting at the gas station. . I left the gas station as soon as I turned out of the gas station the vehicle shut off 2 more times. I have to either fill my tank to 3/4's a tank or purposely burn gas when on full to not have this happen again.

13 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 09/10/2017

This car will stall at completely random intervals. It has done it at speed, on acceleration, on deceleration, at stops. Occasionally the cruise control will not function correctly. The car will also spit, sputter and buck at speeds above 35mph. When this happens, there is a total loss of power steering, brakes, etc. In order to restart the car, it requires being placed into neutral or park, and trying at least 3 times before engine will run again. The car will usually continue to stall 3-10 times. On returning to "drive" the car will usually stay stationary for another 5-10 seconds before surging forward. Reverse does not have this effect. Car has been checked by several mechanics, who can pull no codes, and don't seem to have any clue what is causing the intermittent issue. It is very dangerous situation, as there is no warning the car is about to stall, and there is no pattern to when it will stall. In googling the issue, I was able to find the Chrysler campaign x53 extended warranty on "some" 2006 300cs, but when I called the Chrysler dealer to check my VIN, I was told my car is not covered under this known defective gas tank. The message boards have many instances of people describing this exact issue for this exact car. This a seriously life threatening issue.

14 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 04/07/2017

Initially the vehicle began to shut off and restart at various speeds ranging from 45-65 mph, mileage on the vehicle when the problem surfaced was approx . 138,000. In 2016 after replacement of the pcm ,fuel tank, alternator, solenoid, battery, and cam shaft sensor the problem sporadically reoccurred every 300 miles, and failure has increased in frequency and now occurs regularly but sporadically at low speeds of 1-20 causing a full stall with no restart. The failure is typically at a light and when tempting aa turn. It has been observed during the high speed incidents, all electrical systems are in failure- dash lights go off, the analog rpm and speedometer gauges spontaneously drop to zero, and then the entire system restarts and gauges resume normal readings, all occurring within a few seconds at most. Additionally the vehicle will not start after sitting for 3 hours, the electrical works but engine will not turn over. After each incident car was taken for a diagnostic reading and either no fault code was registered, or an engine communication failure code occurs. This has been an on going issue for the past 2 years.

15 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 03/30/2017

Vehicle dies while driving and wile coming to a stop in town. No check engine light. Took it in to the Chrysler dealership and they diagnosed a bad fuel tank. The inlet flapper on the fuel tank is defective allowing fuel to overflow the charcoal canister. This is the same problem as the 2005-2006 models that now come with a lifetime warranty on fuel tanks. I called Chrysler and they are not willing to work with me to replace it or consume some of the costs, and it is a safety issue. It has dies out in the middle of an intersection 5 times and wont always re-start. Sometimes it takes 5-10 minutes, and other times it starts right back up. This recent issue happened less than two weeks after having a leak detection pump replaced.

16 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 02/04/2017

Every time I fill up my gas tank my 2006 Chrysler 300c ends up turning off at any stop, red light, or when I am slowing down. I always end up stopping traffic because of it. The vehicle ends up turning back on after a few times of trying to turn it on. I have had people make scenes at my window due to this. I have read online blogs of Chrysler owners that have the same problem. They go to the dealer and replace the fuel tank. I have called auto parts stores and the fuel tank is pretty pricey. There are many more complaints on 300cforums. Com.

17 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 05/16/2016

I own a 2006 Chrysler 300c. Since 2013, I have experienced issues with the vehicle stalling while driving at low speeds. The car stops completely, sometimes restarting on its own, sometimes it does not. Chrysler replaced the fuel tank in 2015, stating that was the cause of the issue, but the car continues to stall. Most recently, it stopped while merging onto a busy highway, while driving with my wife and children in the car. The car randomly turns off, no warning. Now the vehicle stopped and refuses to start at all.

18 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 02/02/2016

When I fill my gas tank with fuel, for the first mile or so it keeps dying at slows to stops. Every stop or slow down for the first several minutes after fueling. It is a safety issue because it will die right in the middle of traffic or in a turn lane, and I am afraid I will be rear-ended. I have to put it into neutral or park to start it. Sometimes it takes 3 to 4 tries to get it to start when it has stalled like this. This happens every time I fuel up now. The first incident was in 2016.

19 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 01/31/2016

About a month ago, I filled up my vehicle with gas. I had my nieces in the car with me, and as I pulled away from the gas station, the car stalled and shut off in the middle of the road. I got it to crank back up before getting hit. It didn't have much power but finally gained its power back. Every time I fill my tank up (not topping off, but stop once it clicks off) and I drive off, the car quits and has to be cranked back up. It appears to only happen when the car is filled up. This is happening only when it's filled up (which one needs to be able to do). This is scary and dangerous as when you pull off into traffic, the last thing you need is to have a car die on you and you get hit. Please help! I see I'm not the only person who is having this problem.

20 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 12/16/2015

I bought my car in January 2015. As of December 2015 it started stalling. It would start jerking when I gave it gas. It would shut off when I either tried to take off from a complete stop or when I was just stopped or in the middle of me driving within 40 mph. I took it to the Chrysler dealership (not the dealer I bought it from) they diagnosed it was the wiring harness. I paid over $1200 to get it fixed. The same problem happened within 24 hours of me picking it up. It was there for almost 2 months, they said it did not do anything when it was there. Only said I needed a new battery. I had them replace the battery. Then it happened again about a month later. This time they diagnosed the fuel tank needed to be replaced. Once work was complete I picked it up and less than 5 minutes after leaving I was broke down again. This is the 5th time its been there in the last 5 months. Also I never received a refund after the mis-disgnosis! this is frustrating!.

21 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 10/09/2015

2006 Chrysler 300c 5. 7l hemi: engline stalls if I fill the gas tank to maximum as I make r or l turn leaving gas station . Car will restart and stall again and again if/when I make a turn to the right or left until such time as level of gasoline in tank fails below the full mark. This is a problem on a long trip as it requies numerous extra stops for gas and stalling as I enter roadway or highway is dangerous for me and surrounding traffic/travelers.

22 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 10/01/2015

The car will stall out at complete random times while it is in motion or sitting still in drive or in park. It has happened from 0 to 70 mph, it is completely random. I have read that this is a common occurrence on this model and Chrysler has extended the warranties on the fuel tank to lifetime but for some reason my particular vehicle doesn't fall under this circumstance despite it being the exact same year, make, and model listed on the documents. I do not feel safe driving the car because I'm worried about stalling in the middle of an intersection or highway and it causing a wreck and harm to me or my family.

23 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 07/30/2015

I got fuel in my vehicle approx. 3/4 of a tank after fueling my vehicle stalled when I tried to drive it. I have previously replaced the purge solenoid, the pcm, and the egr valve. The vehicle continues to have multiple problems and has left me stranded more times than I can count.

25 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 04/10/2015

When I fill the gas tank the car stops and loses all power. This happens a few times until I use some gas. This is very dangerous problem. I almost got rear ended a few times.

26 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 02/20/2015

Filled up gas tank and car stalled while stopped at a stop light had to restart and then stalled as I was getting onto the freeway had to coast to side of road. Very dangerous because car lost all power and started to roll backwards with cars behind me.

27 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2009 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 02/15/2015

My Chrysler 300c constantly smell like fuel. I have taken to the Chrysler dealer who claims he didn't smell anything. Now my vehicle is out of warranty and I still smell fuel. I don't know what to do because the Chrysler experts are not helping the situation. Hopefully you can help me get it resolved. I am not alone. You angel the fuel whether the tank is full or not. You have to drive with the windows open.

28 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 02/12/2015

Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Chrysler 300c. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 mph, the engine stalled without warning. After restarting, the vehicle was driven to the residence. The failure recurred five times. The failure only occurred after refueling to the full capacity. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the engine would need to be replaced due to the faulty fuel tank roll over. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 44,000. Js.

29 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 01/31/2015

Car stalls/shuts off after refueling after driving a while stall stops until refueling again. Took car to dealer they found nothing wrong with car, they charged me for replacement of the battery. Car did the same thing after refueling. Took it again today 2/15/15 and was told my car wasnt covered for the lifetime recall for the fuel tank float replacement, although im having the same symptoms for this year vehicle that clearly alot of other customers have had the same problem.

30 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 01/21/2015

This has happened at least 3 times in the last 2 years. I would fill up with fuel and after leaving the gas station the vehicle would stall causing me to lose power steering and brakes and having to stop in the middle of traffic. I received a alert from Chrysler last year but have misplaced the letter. It stated that if I experienced this problem that I should take it to a dealer and they would replace the gas tank.

31 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 12/16/2014

For last year if we fill the gas tank to full the car stalls in traffic shortly after leaving the fuel station. Highly dangerous. My wife doesn't fill the tank anymore after three incidents where she was almost hit. Did not happen until we moved car to florida. Maybe related to gas temperature in gas station versus fuel temperature in car?.

32 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 10/23/2014

It began when I started pumping gas after it reach like 10 galons of fuel the clicker will stop as if it was full tank already but still needed a long way to fill up so I automatically began to pump gas and it kept clicking and clicking it didn't want to keep pumping so I stop as I began driving the car began to pulled it self hard like if it was running out of gas check engine and the esp bas light when on started to smell like gas got me worried when on it kept doing it so I took it in to the dealer and they told me it was the egr valve ,thermostat and spark plugs needed to be repair I asked if their was a recall because I have recieved a later stating that something thats has to do with the gas tank,he looked it up and he said no. I did the labor that needed to be done to car it was ok for couple hrs then it began to do the same thing lunging then car stalled try to restarted it wouldn't go on waited couple mins tried again and it wouldn't start gave it a lil longer time then try to turn it on again and it finally started after multiple times I really need to fix it I find it dangerous. .

33 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 10/14/2014

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler 300c. While driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was coasted to the side of the road. After restarting, the vehicle, it resumed normal operation. The failure occurred only after refueling to the full capacity level. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the mechanic could not locate the failure. The contact was advised not to fill the fuel tank to maximum capacity. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.

34 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 10/12/2014

The car stalled right after being filled with gas. I restarted the car pulled forward and stopped for traffic and it stalled again. It restarted and went a few blocks and stalled again. I was able to restart the car and it did not stall again. I drove it home and have not driven it again. This is a know problem by Chrysler. They say it is the fuel valve and have replaced the tanks on some cars but not all that are having the problem. I intend to see if they will replace my gas tank under the warranty but others have had a problem with them covering it. Chrysler is calling their recall the x53 19 gallon extended warranty program. Thank you.

35 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 09/26/2014

Once again I am driving my car and it stalled in the middle of traffic I was almost rear-ended with my son in the back seat becasue I got gas for my car. Chrysler needs to be responsible and fix this issue. I took my car to the dealership and they told me good luck with getting it fixed because the gas tank is on back order and they don't know when it will be in. I am an single parent and this is my only car that I have and I am afraid to drive it becasue it stalls. Now I am wondering if by suddenly losing power if this is going to affect the engine in the long run. I don't know what to do I guess Chrysler is going to wait until a family or someone is killed because the car dies in traffic until they do something.
