Chrysler Aspen owners have reported 3 problems related to other fuel system hoses lines/piping, and fittings (under the other fuel system category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
When fueling my 2008 Chrysler Aspen, fuel splashes back out of the fuel tank inlet pipe onto the person putting fuel into the tank. This happens even though you may not be topping off the tank. Fuel splashes onto person, clothes, hands, shoes, vehicle quarter panel and puddles on concrete pad . I have received skin irritation from the contact of the fuel on my hands and have to go in the store to wash my hands or wash them in the dirty water in the windshield scraper holder. I have a couple of friends that own Aspens and they have the same problem. In doing research on this issue, I see where Chrysler had a recall on certain durangos and Aspens, but according to my dealer, my vehicle and many more were excluded. This is a dangerous issue and needs to be addressed immediately by Chrysler. It is a manufacturers defect and they are responsible. How many people have to be injured or killed before NHTSA makes Chrysler do a recall on all affected vehicles. Question below asks, "when did this happen"? it happens every time I put fuel in my Aspen. It can have 1/4 tank and I can put in 5 gallons of fuel real slow and when I withdraw the nozzle, fuel will splash out. Last time it happened was today. . .

I currently own a 2009 Chrysler Aspen hybrid. Today while fueling my vehicle I experienced the same problem I have been having since I purchased the vehicle about 3 weeks ago. As I am fueling the fuel trigger shuts off on me constantly. As I take it out to reinsert it, it spits out fuel at me. Once I am done fueling and proceed to cap the tank it spits fuel at me as well. Today I was drenched in fuel because as I began fueling my vehicle which had an empty tank it started to spit fuel back at me. This is not only hazardous to the environment but it’s also a personal safety hazard. I had to return home to change because my pants where covered in fuel. As I started to look for facts I noticed that I am not alone. Apparently this is a common issue amongst the durango/aspen models but nothing has been done. I ask you to please look into this issue. Today no one was injured or hurt but if I were to go anywhere after fueling and be exposed to any open flame I can almost assure you that my clothing would have caught on fire all due to a malfunction on these vehicles. I have included below four of a few links that have other individuals whom have or are experiencing the same issue. Please advice. . Read more...

When pumping gas if I do not stop before tank is full, the pump will stop and when I pull out of tank, gas erupts out of gas cap. It does not leak, it sprays and overflows crazy. For awhile it was not all the time, now it does it consistently and even though I have checked and purchased new gas caps since that what I was told was issue, it still does. Check engine will be on as well as gas cap message in odometer.
