2 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2007 Chrysler Aspen

Failure Date: 11/18/2016

Every time I put gas in to my tank (not topping off) fuel gushes back out of the fuel tank and on to the ground after the gas pump shuts off when the tank gets filled more than 3/4 full. It has happened at numerous different gas stations and has happened when I am holding the handle to the gas pump and when the pumps auto shut-off feature is used. Each time that it has happened a large amount of gas has been spilled on the ground, on the side of the vehicle, on my shoes. On numerous occasions the gas station attendant has had to block off the gas pump and come over and clean up the spill. Each time it has happened the vehicle has been stationary and not running.

3 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2008 Chrysler Aspen

Failure Date: 02/18/2016

We purchased the vehicle second hand. One previous owner prior. Just recently it started spitting gas back during fill up (car is parked, not running). Anytime we fill up with gas, the pump shuts off and immediately gas spits back out of the tank. Varying amounts of gas that spits back at the pump. Every time, with force, having to alert the gas station attendants to fuel spilled on the ground due to the spit back. I don't know for sure what would cause the spit back.

4 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2007 Chrysler Aspen

Failure Date: 01/01/2015

Aspen has only 16000 miles and has a horrible problem of burping fuel out of the tank when filling up at what ever pressure one holds the nozzle. Every time tank is filled it dumps out 1 to 2 gallons of full on myself and the body of the car as well as on the ground. I have taken it to Chrysler only to be told that a recall has not been issue yet a TSB has been issued by Chrysler them selves acknowledging the problem and the solution for the life of the vehicle. TSB 14-001-12 classifying it as an extended warranty bulletin. Acknowledging that Chrysler is aware of the problem being a stuck flapper in the gas tank. Chrysler is not wanting to resolve the problem in my vehicle saying that they don't have a specific recall noted and that the TSB bulletin is for there own techs and not for customer awareness. Every time I or my wife fill the tank in the Aspen while traveling or locally I get an enormous amount of fuel back sprayed and spewed on me and my cloths requiring me to stay away from any sparks, fire or ignitions of any sort till I remove my clothing and then shower off the gasoline. I could really use help in getting this dangerous issue resolve for and my wife. I have on hand letters to Chrysler customer clearly stating that the fuel inlet check valve has been extended to include extended lifetime warranty if you would like to have a copy of.

5 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2007 Chrysler Aspen

Failure Date: 02/20/2013

When I put fuel into the gas tank a large amount of gasoline gushes back out of the tank after I am finished fueling. This causes gasoline to splash back all over the person filling the vehicle, the ground and over the side of the vehicle. This happens at different gas stations, and does not matter how slow or how fast I fill the tank. It happens after the pump has stopped filling and is turned off and removing the nozzle. It does not matter if the pump automatically turn off, or if you shut of the fuel pump.

6 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2007 Chrysler Aspen

Failure Date: 11/01/2012

Starting at around 85,000 miles or so during filling of the gas tank, just before the fuel handle shut off engages, an enormous amount of fuel literally gushes back from the fuel tank, soaking the person filling the vehicle and the ground with what appears to be between a half gallon to a gallon of fuel. We have tried many different gas stations, manually filling up the tank, and even not completely filling up the tank all with the same result - alot of gas dumping back out onto people, the truck, and the ground. Given that gasoline is extremely flammable, and that it has been proven that sparks from static electricity and cell phones can easily ignite vapors, this is a very dangerous situation. Many people complain of the same issue with many Chrysler products (Jeep, durango, and Aspen, mainly), and Chrysler has instituted a recall on very very limited vehicles for this problem. I believe that all of the 2007 Aspens and durangos, and possibly even more vehicles, should be recalled to fix this problem. The only way to fix the issue is to replace the entire gas tank, which is cost prohibitive for many people. I am surprised that there hasn't been any serious fires and/or fatalities due to this issue. Do we really need to wait for someone to be seriously hurt or die before taking action? no other car manufacturers seem to be having this problem with as much regularity as Chrysler has. Given the tragic events that have unfolded over the past several days the last thing I want to hear about or experience is more children killed or seriously injured from a well known and documented problem. Please take a very serious look into this, and since I am lucky enough to have the ability to pay for a new gas tank I would be more than happy to give you the old one to verify the issue. Please take action before its too late!.

7 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2007 Chrysler Aspen

Failure Date: 08/10/2012

Bought my 2007 Chrysler Aspen went to fill it up with gas, tank was just about full when an excessive amount of gas shot out of the filler neck all over my husband and myself.

8 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2007 Chrysler Aspen

Failure Date: 03/01/2012

I am not exactly sure of the date but our vehicle first spewed gas from the gas tank when filling the fuel tank sometime in early 2012. This only happened one or two times before we received a recall notice for a check valve in the fuel fill line. We took the vehicle in for the repair as soon as the part was available late in 2012. A few months afterwards, the vehicle began to overflow every time that it was filled to anywhere near capacity. The dealer now tells me that a new fuel tank is required to correct the problem and Chrysler is unwilling to repair the problem under the lifetime warranty that was issued with the recall. This is a serious fire hazard since significant amounts of fuel overflow onto the vehicle, the person filling the vehicle, and the ground every time the vehicle is filled with fuel. In addition to the safety hazard, this also presents an environmental hazard due to the fuel leakage onto the ground.
