1 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2008 Chrysler Aspen

Failure Date: 02/29/2020

Vehicle stalls repeatedly after filling up the fuel tank. The vehicle gives no check engine light or provides any obd codes to pinpoint the problem. The vehicle stalls both while in motion and when stationary, when in motion all power assist is lost including the power steering and braking assist. My wife refuses to drive the vehicle now after nearly getting into a traffic collision when the vehicle stalled while driving through an intersection and she lost all power assist with our two children in the vehicle. The vehicle will sometimes immediately restart and run for a short period of time then stall again or will just crank and fail to start. This problem only seems to occur after fueling up and topping off the fuel tank. Once the fuel tank burns off some of the fuel it seems to run just fine.

3 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2007 Chrysler Aspen

Failure Date: 03/16/2017

Gas 'spits out' when filling. Very dangerous, gas will shoot out over a foot. Took it to Chrysler dealer for recall 'TSB 14-001-12', did not fix the problem. Returned the car 3 days later and charged $100. 00. Was told I need a new gas tank and I have to pay for it!!! why doesn't this recall pay for it??? it's diffently a safey problem???.

4 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2007 Chrysler Aspen

Failure Date: 01/11/2017

When filling the fuel tank on this vehicle, it often overflows and dumps gas down the side of the vehicle. There is supposed to be something that prevents this from happening. . . . Are there any known issues with this valve/ or part?.

5 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2008 Chrysler Aspen

If the fuel tank is filled completely fuel will gush out after the gas station fuel pump stops filling. This occurs at all gas sations.

6 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2008 Chrysler Aspen

Failure Date: 10/07/2015

When filling the fuel tank, gas sprays everywhere after the gas pump nozzle clicks off. This happens at different gas stations. This is a safety hazard as well as an environmental issue. This happens every time I fill my tank.

7 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2008 Chrysler Aspen

Failure Date: 02/03/2015

My 2008 Chrysler Aspen has an issue with the fuel tank. When filling the tank, the pump will shut off and gas will come squirting out of tank. This has happened at many different pumps and different gas stations. It seems dangerous to have gas spilling out. It seems to be a common issue for Chrysler and should be addressed. I contacted Chrysler and was told there is no recall for this issue. Any service on gas tank would be customers cost. Not covered in warranty.

8 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2009 Chrysler Aspen

Failure Date: 06/27/2014

For the last 1-2 years, every time I fill up my gas tank my 2009 Chrysler Aspen will stall repeatedly. When the vehicle stalls, all steering and control of the vehicle is lost. The car will restart after about 30-45 seconds. Once the vehicle has been driven approximately three times after fueling up, the problem stops until the next time I fill up the tank. The issue occurs without fail ever time I fill up my tank. I have had it in the shop a number of times and the problem has not been able to be determined or repaired. There have been no codes when a diagnostic is ran (one time there was a small evap. Leak but once the ignition coil was replaced, the code was gone). I have had the ignition coil replaced, spark plugs replaced, evaporation control canister replaced, etc. Often, there is a strong gas smell after filling up, but there is no leak from the gas tank that has been able to be detected.

9 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2007 Chrysler Aspen

Failure Date: 03/18/2014

There is a safety/environmental problem when filling up the gas tank of our Aspen. When filling the gas tank and the gas pump shuts off, gas spurts out all over the person filling the tank, the side of the vehicle and the ground and is a safety and environmental hazard. There was a recall for this problem for the Dodge durango's, but I am not able to find one for the Aspen. This is a safety and environmental hazard that Chrysler should be responsible for repairing. This is an ongoing incident that occurs every time we refill the vehicle.
