Chrysler Concorde owners have reported 7 problems related to engine exhaust system (under the engine and engine cooling category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
On our second engine now. The second engine is now doing the same as the first before it quit. The check engine light is now on and no one can seem to tell me why the car keeps stalling while driving at a variety of different speeds and conditions. When it stalls the car is still partially on. The power steering goes out and I can not accelerate but there are still a couple of lights on the display the same ones that turn on when you turn the key half way forward. I think the electrical is still on but the engine is off. Does that make sense? I am not a mechanic, but they can't figure it out either so I guess that wouldn't help! the check engine light code refers to the catalytic converter, but I have been told that it is fine. This is a Concorde lxi actually should be called pos instead of lxi. We have replaced the cam sensors, the cam shaft, battery, alternator, battery cables, the transmission, and the engine. It still quits several times a month. This all began before the warranty went out, it paid to replace the first cam sensor. This was my first car and I didn't know what to do after the warranty wore out. I still don't know what to do. Mechanics tell me to get a new car I can't afford one.

: the contact stated black smoke came out of the exhaust and the engine stalled completely when startup was attempted. The vehicle was taken to a service dealer who determined that there was sludge in the timing chain and the engine needed to be replaced.

: the contact stated that there was blue smoke coming out from the exhaust system and a loud ticking noise of the pistons hitting the head of cams. While driving, the engine eventually seized and failed resulting in an non-drivable state. When the manufacturer was alerted, they determined there was no problem with the 2. 7 liter engine. Updated 09/11/06.
1999 Chrysler concord 2. 7 liter engine-has history of engine failure. My 1999 concord now has smoke coming from the exhaust pipe, rough idle when cold, and also has intermittent oil pressure light illumination (all within 24 hours of the car being serviced for the oil light problem).
Problem with Chrysler Concorde 1996 oxygen sensor. The consumer needed to replace the oxygen sensor nine times. The dealer replaced the power control module and program to see if that was the underlying problem. (the problem still occurred) the check engine light had come on and the mechanic found the upstream oxygen sensor needed to be replaced once again. The consumer requested Chrysler to pay for the correction of the problem with the oxygen sensor. The remote to the door lock made a different sound, the driver's window was noisy and was tightened and lubed.

The dealer replaced the oxygen sensor eight times since the vehicle was brand new. The part needed to be replaced again, however the manufacturer refused assistance.
