Engine Problems of Chrysler Concorde - part 2

Vehicle began responding to acceleration very slowly. Vehicle seized on the road in November "05". Dealership offered to replace engine for appr. $2,000- $4,000. I did not accept the offer.

August 2005, my Chrysler concord's oil was changed by the dealership, twelve days later my cars engine was knocking loudly, the dealership told me I let the oil run low (which I had not)and sludge was also a problem within the lower engine. They changed the oil again for free, and flushed the sludge from the engine, at my cost. Now two months later my cars engine is blown up from the sludge problem in the engine. The dealership park Dodge @ 301-737-0088 is quoting me 7,500 to replace the engine. I owe 6,000 on the vehicle which is my final 12 months of payments. My engine has 88,000 miles on it and has been taken very good care of. I have been told four times by the service representative and a salesmen these 2. 7 concord engines have a bad sludge problem which causes each engine to be replaced. They stated Chrysler is not owning up to the problem.

I was driving back from a trip from ft. Lauderdale ,FL. On labor day 9/5/05. When my 1999 Chrysler Concorde just stopped for no apparent reason . I just purchased this vehicle 4 months ago and I am still making payments on it. The vehicle only has 75,500 miles on it. I have put on 5,000 miles since I owned it and have changed the oil twice already.

The caller states that while driving at 50 mph engine lost power. He was able to get it off the road. He had it towed to a garage. They said he needed a new engine. He was told that the oil drained out of it while the vehicle was in motion and that caused the engine to fail. Caller had the vehicle towed to his home. Manufacturer has not been contacted yet.

My car's performance had suffered a little. I was coming up on 60000 miles and decided to get some routine maintenance done. That was on Aug 13th, 2005. I went to start the car and it would not start. It worked fine the day before. I had it towed to a midas repair shop and they told me that it is a jumped timing issue. Basically it is an internal engine problem and they cannot fix it. I am having it looked at by another auto shop now to verify.

The engine in our 1999 Chrysler concord blew at only 38000 miles, it was the famous flawed 2. 7, Chrysler refused to replace the engine - told us we must not have changed the oil often enough! my husband is a district supervisor for a oil change chain here in michigan, the oil was changed religiously with synthetic blend, an oil far superior to the basic factory recommendations. We replaced the engine ourselves at our own expense with a 3. 2 at a cost of $3000. Chrysler refuses to admit any defects in their 2. 7 motors, yet other companies whom used this engine have voluntarily recalled it!.

Dt: consumer stated he ended up stranded on the side of the road on July 4, 2005 for two hours because the 2. 7 liter engine in his car spun rod bearings. This was the first incident. He was climbing a hill going approx. 50 mph when the engine died. He dropped the oil pan and saw where the bearings had gone out. He hasn't talked to neither the dealer nor the manufacturer. The car has 85,000 miles on it. He has been on line and saw where people are having a sludge (buildup) problem similar to his problem. The consumer does have the old bearings and he is sure that is the problem.

My 1998 Chrysler Concorde's engine seized while driving on the highway. The engine had been ticking and knocking for about a hundred miles before it seized. It then made a klunking sound, and simply quit. The mechanic I took it to could give no reason for it to have seized up.

Engine quit when I hit 97000 miles with no warning. Engine started ticking and it was all over. I had to replace the engine with a 3. 5 liter at my own expense.

Caller's car died on side street without warning. Car was towed. Dealer said the engine was shot, and it will have to be replaced. Dealer did not tell caller what happened to engine. Other dealerships have told her that car was a lemon. Manufacturer has not been contacted yet.

Consumer states: the engine has a design failure that causes oil to sludge up inside motor, temperature gauge spiked. Drove 2 miles to the dealer and lost all coolant.

While driving driver heard a ping noise, the timing chain broke. Owner had the vehicle towed to the dealer, and was informed that there was an excess of motor sludge at the base of the motor. Owner stated that the oil was changed on time, every time. Also, owner was informed that the valves were bent.

While driving vehicle stallled. Driver was unable to restart vehicle, and ha dit towed to the dealer for inspection. Mechanic determined that the engine needed to be replaced due to sludge build up.

2001 Chrysler Concorde. Engine cut out while driving on a busy road with no warning! car had to be towed to Chrysler dealer. Chrysler service manager suggested a jasper motor ($7270. 54) because the Chrysler 2. 7 liter engine that came with the car was known to seize with sludge at 50,000 miles. Chrysler has not amended the current sludge problems with their 2. 7 liter engine. They have not recalled the flawed 2. 7 liter engine even though it was a safety hazard. Daimler Chrysler did , however extend the warranty on their mercedes cars for engine sludge, and paid for engine replacements on mercedes with sludge engines.

2000 Chrysler concord lx experiencing problems with engine equipment. The consumer stated the vehicle would not start, after diagnosing the vehicle, the consumer was told it needed a new timing chain. The consumer stated just recently the engine died again, this time the consumer was told there was no engine compression and a new engine was needed.

Vehicle stopped running and would not restart. Consumer left the vehicle, and went back the next day, and it started. Vehicle was driven to the dealer, where they discovered sludge in the engine, and the engine bearings were defective.

I have a 2000 Chrysler concord with 62566 miles on it. This car has the 2. 7l engine in it and it is now dead due to lack of compression. My little sister was driving this car when the engine completely died. A three year 36 thousand mile powertrain warranty is unacceptable. I opening a complaint with chrylser but from what I have seen on the internet from other consumers it does not appear to be any recourse.

1999 Chrysler Concorde died after the motor started knocking.

I was driving my 99 Chrysler Concorde home and it started knocking and then died. My engine is gone. I have 3 kids and I have no means of fixing this. And now, no way to travel.

2001 Chrysler Concorde developed a rattle in the engine. ** answer required***. The consumer was informed the engine was full of sludge and needed to be replaced.

Without any warning, my chrylser Concorde 2. 7l engine suffered a complete failure. Repair costs are near $5000 and upon research, I found this to be a common problem on Chrysler 2. 7l engines from 1998 to 2000. Chrysler denies any allegations of the engine being faulty and that they are failing due to improper maintenance. The most that engine ever went between oil and filter changes was 4200 miles and that was a one time occurrence. The rest of the changes were done at or before 3000 miles. Chryslers recommendation under normal conditions is 6500 miles.

The car was idling for about 20minutes, then it started to idle up quite high then bog down low, after that I turned the ignition off, waited for my husband. Got the car to his fathers house, barely, then took it to where we bought it from. Then it died and won't start back up. The car only has 105,000 miles on it. Engine is completly gone.

While traveling at 30 mph vehicle lost power, causing it to strike a curb. Vehicle was towed, and the engine was found to be defective.

While driving, the vehicle completely shut down. The consumer was told there was oil sludge build-up in the engine. Please provide any further information.

While driving 45 mph the consumer could not stop the vehicle. Then after trying to coast home, the vehicle had to be towed to the dealer, who told the consumer that engine was full of sludge, and needed to be replaced. The warranty company stated that the vehicle had a lack of maintenance, and they would not cover the cost.

While driving 70-75 mph engine seized. Vehicle was towed to the dealer, who informed the consumer that the engine needed to be replaced.

2. 7 eng. Failure Chrysler Concorde 1999 ,well maintained ( it just stoped).

My 1999 Chrysler concord engine seize after an oil charge. I got the oil change on Saturday and Monday my car engine was knocking and by the end of the week the car was parked in the drive way. I researched the web for information on this engine and pretty much everybody that has this engine will have to use out of pocket money to fix the dame thing that cost twice its market value to fix.

: the contact stated while driving at 65mph the engine started knocking. The vehicle was taken to a dealership were they determined the engine was defective. There was no warning prior to the incident. The manufacturer has been alerted however no repairs have been made.

Consumer stated that vehicle and the motor was shot. While consumer was driving vehicle knocked, and before he could exit the knocking got real loud. Afterwards, vehicle died. Consumer said he had to push vehicle to his home, but later had it towed to a dealer, who examined the vehicle, and told consumer that the motor was defective, and it would cost him $7500. 00 to get it repaired. Before this happened consumer paid $600. 00 for a diagnostic test and 2 sensors to be replaced.

The engine stops running like it is out of gas. After safely stopping pulling over etc. I can restart the car but this is not safe for a year 2000 automobile.

We first saw a dealership regarding a clicking in the engine compartment on April 26, 2004, then again on July 16, 2004 at a different dealership. On the latter date, the battery was replaced and the oil changed. On 7/25, the engine. I was fortunate that I had just pulled into my driveway when this occurred. We replaced the engine early in 2005. When the tech broke down the old 2. 7 liter engine, he wrote, ". . . Rod bearings worn and rod tap noise the engine showed no signs of abuse or alteration. . . ". The engine was replaced with a different engine. At this time, we are preparing to request compensation from daimler-Chrysler.

Timing chain broke on 2. 7l Chrysler mitsibushi engine in 2001 Concorde at only 69,700 miles. This caused sever engine damage including bent valves and broken heads.
