Chrysler Concorde owners have reported 5 problems related to manifold/header/muffler/tail pipe (under the engine and engine cooling category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
2002 Chrysler concord lx. Consumer complained of an engine failure. It first started by the engine knocking and light colored smoke from the tail pipe. The car was maintained with oil changes every 3000 miles. Took t vehicle o dealer, and they said it was not under warranty. Then engine specialist said vehicl needed a brand new engine at the cost of $5500. I was told by the engine specialist that there is defect in the oil pump and it will not maintain oil pressure and this causes oil sludge and this in turn locks the engine up. I have only owned the car 7 months I bought it used and I still owe $9000. On this car now. I have did research on the internet and found at least 900 other cases of this problem.

Car stalled at red light, I pulled over to firestone to have them put the car on a machine to scan for errors and I was told that my crank shaft sensor and oil sensor were bad, I paid for them to replace the sensors ($525. 00) and five days later while driving I smelled something and pulled over, this time it was my transmission line ($480. 00) and transmission work $(1765. 00) this was all paid within 2 weeks, but when I went to pick up the car I was told that they thought that my oil pump needed to be replaced, but when they pulled the oil pump they said that I had engine slug.

Engine light repeatedly comes on. Have taken it to the dealer at least six times and was told that the intake manifold sensor was defective. The dealer contacted Chrysler, and was told to replace the sensor again and rewire the portion of wiring on the engine harness. This worked for two days and the engine light came back on again. I was told by the dealer to bring it back in and they would contact chrsler again. On the fourth attempt to fix the problem Chrysler said to replace the power control module. The dealer installed the module and the car seamed to be fixed. Unfortunatly the problem reappeared two weeks later. I have since given up on Chrysler fixing the problem and my engine lite continues to go off and on at least 5 days a week. The problem that I have with this is the fact that if something happens to the engine internally I won't know that there is a problem because the engine lite is already on. I am fed up with this car and the lack of support that Chrysler has shown during this time frame. They were more that happy to sell me the product but when something went wrong with the product they won't back up their five star dealers ( ha! ha!) any feed back would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, kendall .

The metal screw that holds the air filter cover in place will cause the holes to become stripped, leaving the customer unable to replace the filter, consumer states that this only leaves him to have the whole unit replaced.
