This veichle engine cradle assembly is rusty with in 8 years of operation. Rusty engine cradle causes saftey concern for the driver and other veichles operating near 2004 Chrysler Pacifica on the road because the engine can fall out of the veichle during operation. Many Pacifica oweners on line complained about this issue.
Tl-the contact owns a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that the cradle that the engine sits in was cracked; the vehicle has never been in an accident. The dealer was made aware of the issue. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 111,362. Mc.
I went to have routine oil change and was told by the tech, that the engine cradle and frame were severly corroded from rust. His recommendation was to have it taken care immediately, it could possibly be unsafe.
The underside engine cradle subframe of my 2004 Chrysler Pacifica is rotted and in danger of breaking apart. I can hear noise when steering and the car has a vibration.
The contact owns a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. While the vehicle was being serviced, the independent mechanic discovered that the engine cradle was completely rusted. The mechanic stated that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.
Was told by my mechanic that the engine cradle is severely rusted and my car could be unsafe. After checking on this site I found that Chrysler extended the warranty for this problem. I call a locale dealership and service dept told me my specific vehicle wasn't covered. I called Chrysler and after several minutes of checking was told that the extended warranty only covered vehicles made from Feb. Thru March of 2004 and mine was made in June of 2003. Too bad since I am just limping this along for another month till I'll be buying another vehicle. It does seem to me that this problem is much more extensive than Chrysler is willing to admit, as I have seen many other complaints for the same thing.
I am writing because I was told that my engine cradle in my Chrysler Pacifica is beginning to rust through and I have two visible holes, at this time. I was told by the Chrysler dealership that only a small number of these cars have been given an extended warranty. I cannot afford to have my car repaired for $2400. I have a chronic medical condition, for which I have to drive to receive treatments three times a week, plus I work and I have to have reliable transportation. I don't think Chrysler is taking this defect seriously. I think Chrysler should do the responsible thing and fix every Pacifica. Are they waiting for someone's engine to actually fall out of the car and cause a fatality? if so, they will be in washington just as the gm executives are trying to defend their decision to ignore a problem that they are aware of.
Took my car to have a plastic front panel put back on. The repairman sent me pictures of the engine cradle rusted out. Told me the car was unsafe to drive until it was fixed. Contacted local Chrysler dealer and gave me information to contact customer service. Called customer service and my vehicle was outside the coverage described on bulletin 13-001-12 issued on Mar 16, 2012 by Chrysler. They were not able to provide any relief on the repairs which will be between $3500 and $4000 depending on parts cost. My vehicle was built September 18, 2003, and put in service on December 22, 2003. The service bulletin only covered vehicles from Feb 23, 2004 to Mar 31, 2004. I am sure my vehicle is in the same category as the covered vehicles, same rust problem, same areas of the car, etc.
Engine cradle corrosion.
I own a 2004 crysler pasifica that I purchased new that has severe rust of the engine cradle aka subframe which makes it impossible to drive the car safely or sell the car as well. This rust seems abnormal for a car that is 10 years old. Doing research online, we have noticed that Chrysler admitted to the problem and has fixed certain cars within some limited production run sold in certain states. Our problem does not show up on any recall list and we don't have a record of Chrysler contacting us although they should have. What can I do about this problem?.
Took 2004 Pacifica in for routine oil change and found out cradle is rusting out. To replace the cradle will cost over $3000. To not fix it means the car will be unsafe to drive.
While in for inspection in June '14, we were advised by the mechanic that the engine cradle assembly had rusted through and was unsafe - they would not pass it through inspection. Otherwise, the car is in excellent condition, and has been maintained properly throughout our ownership. Our research indicates this is a problem with the initial factory paint application - it was defective and allowed for premature corrosion of the cradle assembly. There are many instances of this posted on the internet (some of which have been addressed by Chrysler - but not all). This is dangerous and something should be done before accidents start happening (especially with children involved given this vehicle is a minivan).
The engine cradle has rusted out and the engine is ready to fall out of the car. Cannot pass safety inspection. No assistance from Chrysler on this after many calls. It seems to be a very, very popular issue. They said they will only fix something that has a recall. So basically they will not stand behind their products unless they are forced to. What a shame!.
The contact owns a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated while stopped, the vehicle suddendly accelerated independently to 65 mph. The vehicle failed to stop although the brakes were engaged. The contact mentioned that in order to stop the vehicle, the transmission had to be shifted into park. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed the engine mount was disconnected. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.
This car has a serious rust issue on the undercarriage. It starts on the subframe then works its way to the frame of the car. There front suspension has been replaced 3 times in the month alone. Due to this issue I have in regards to this, I can't jack my car up with the jack that comes with the care, if I do it will go right thru that is what it feels like to me. . I can not get a rear alignment on my car because of the rust and my tired hve worn or day. If anyone knows anything could they please help I am feed up with this care. .

Approximately 2 minutes later the front end of the vehicle exploded destroying the vehicle. The fire department was called to the scene and extinguished the flames. The manufacturer was not notified of the defect. The failure mileage was 89,000. Jft.
Tl-the contact owns a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that he was informed during a routine maintenance that the front engine cradle is cracked. The contact referenced service bulletin NHTSA id number: 10045080, however when the vehicle was taken to the dealer the dealer advised that it only applied to vehicles manufacturer from February to March of 2004. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of this failure. The approximate failure mileage was 76,137. Rg.
I went to get an oil change and was told by the mechanic that the frame that holds the enngine was rusted out and he took pictures and showed me. He said the engine could fall out at NY given time. I took pictures and it looks like an old car from the under carriage. The rust is horrible and I was not aware until now. I'm scared to drive it. And I will have it towed to a collision shop to see how much it will cost to fix it.
Tl - the contact owns a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact mentioned that the engine cradle was completely corroded. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 127,000. Rk.
On March 29, 2014, my 2004 Chrysler Pacifica, purchased in August 2003, was inspected and diagnosed, by the dealership where it was purchased, to have a subframe/engine cradle that is "rotting" or in other words, severely cracked and corroded. I was not informed of this serious safety issue with my vehicle by Chrysler. I was informed by a recent investigative story on the local chicago nbc station, followed by internet research of the issue. I called the customer service number given to me for Chrysler and was told that there is nothing they can do to assist with the $2600 cost of replacement, because the vehicle was not made in the narrow window of production that they claim was affected and subject to recall. Chrysler told me the warranty they offered, related to the recall, was expired for my vehicle anyway. I never received any notification of the problem or that warranty, because they were keeping this problem a secret to most of their affected customers. I have read that Chrysler also apparently selectively decides who to help with the cost of repairs, regardless of their recall window and warranty, after the customer makes enough noise. If it is not their fault, why are they doing that? isn't this the same type of behavior that Toyota and Chevrolet have exhibited? the nbc report also indicates that NHTSA sees no pattern with the numerous claims you have received outside of the supposed recall window, like this one, how many people have to be put at grave risk before you see a pattern? you might see a pattern if more people knew they are driving unsafe Pacificas, so that they could report it. Sorry if I am being a bit pointed here, but the I don't understand how Chrysler and NHTSA can ignore this issue. Please reconsider your recall decision, as Chrysler's liability is certainly more than a couple months of production.
I am almost verbatim submitting an identical complaint that you received a day after I was shown the exact same problem, after taking my Chrysler Pacifica in for a routine oil change. This is exactly what I was told too on March 28, 2014. I was told I have a subframe/engine cradle that is severely cracked and corroded on the passenger side of the vehicle and showing wear on the driver side. I was not informed of this serious safety issue with my vehicle. I have submitted an email to Chrysler and am waiting their response but understand that customers are most often told there is nothing they can do to assist with the nearly $3000 cost of replacement, because the vehicle was not made in the narrow window of production that they claim was affected and subject to recall. And may I echo the entire last complaint that was submitted that I just read because it's exactly how I feel too. I have read that Chrysler also selectively decides who to help with the cost of repairs, regardless of their recall window and warranty, after the customer makes enough noise. If it is not their fault, why are they doing that? the nbc report also indicates that NHTSA sees no pattern with the numerous claims you have received outside of the supposed recall window, like this one, how many people have to be put at grave risk before you see a pattern? you might see a pattern if more people knew they are driving unsafe Pacificas, so that they could report it. Please reconsider your recall decision, as Chrysler's liability is certainly more than a couple months of production. ".
Discovered engine support has a rust through hole aproxx. 1 3/4 x 3/4. Also showing other areas of rust dammage. This auto is low milage & garage kept. Have photos with tapemeasure if desired.
During an inspection my mechanic informed me that the engine craddle is rusted thru. The craddle is so rusted that he is afraid that the engine will fall out of the car. I have always been a Chrysler guy but this is bad!.
I have a major corrosion problem on the right side of the engine cradle. I complained of a noise coming from that side and asked my mechanic to take a look as he was fixing a tire. What he found was startling to say the least. I'm in fear of my life and possibly others, if this engine were to break through the rest of the corrosion. He warned me not to drive it and to get another car. I called Chrysler today February 24th to find out what my options were and was told I'm out of warranty and to go to the local Chrysler dealer for assistance. Tomorrow I will go there and find out what could be done. The feeling I'm getting is the cost will be in the thousands. Money I don't have. I search the web for information and found that many others have the same problem yet Chrysler won't issue a recall. Some owners were informed and some Chrysler shared the expense. If Chrysler wanted to protect the public I would think Chrysler should issue a recall. People's lives are at risk.
The contact owns a 2004 Chrysler pacific. The contact stated that the engine cradle was corroded and the engine had become partially detached from the engine cradle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the engine cradle was severe corroded and would need replacing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 105,000. Updated 3/14/cn.
My Chrysler Pacifica"s engine cradle has extensively corroded with rust and has become a danger to drive . This was a national problem reported on chicago television nbc channel 5. Chrsyler claims that they are investigating. . I would appreciate if someone from your organization can look at this cradle and the danger my family has been put in. Chrysler also claims that my car was built prior to the problem metal on 2004/2005 . Need for someone to inspect thank you.
Engine cradle/mount and frame is completely rusted out. Unsafe to drive. Stuck with a pile of steel that has no trade in value or resale value. Apparently, this effects almost every 2004 Pacifica. Nhtsa ought to be looking into this issue more closely. It's obvious that the hundred's who've registered a complaint on this website are feeling that the agency does not care to investigate. Shame on Chrysler; shame on NHTSA.
On Thursday, January 30th, my 2004 Chrysler Pacifica was taken to jack williams tire and auto service center in camp hill, PA because of a drivability vibration and/or shake. The mechanic called and said, ¿you were lucky to get the vehicle here in one piece; the engine cradle is so badly corroded that you are lucky that the engine did not drop out of the vehicle. ¿ he would not release the vehicle until the engine cradle was replaced because of this severe safety issue. On Saturday, February 1, 2014, I did some research only to find that this is not news to the Chrysler group llc . . . . In a letter dated November 9, 2010, Chrysler group llc states this is an issue with some vehicles, especially those driven in areas of high salt usage on roadways. The letter informs owners that the warranty period for the front engine cradle (of Chrysler Pacifica model years 2004 thru 2005) has been extended to 10 years or 150,000 miles whichever occurs first. I did email Chrysler group llc customer assistance about my situation and my request for reimbursement and the response I received was: ¿the vehicle has exceeded the time and/or mileage limitations of the warranty. ¿ since my vehicle is 2004 and under 150,000 miles I sent a letter to them asking them to please review their decision and in a letter dated 2/21/2014 I received a letter with one sentence stating "after thoroughly reviewing your request and our files on this matter, we respectfully concur with our previous decision. " this is an extreme safety issue. The mechanic said that our engine could have dropped out while we were driving and I have 3 children - - I would hate to even think about what would or could have happened if that would have happened!.
I took my car to a mechanic for an oil change and I was shocked by what I've seen. The engine cradle is rusted out and it also has cracks on it. It is a real life-threatening situation where the structure can fall out at any moment. I could imagine myself driving on the highway and be involved in a car accident because this car manufacturer builds cars like this. I'm shocked. I have a son that we drive in this car and now I prefer to have it parked than put my son's life in danger. I've never seen such corrosion and it is definitely a problem Chrysler needs to address to all cars. It seems a lot of people are having the same issue even in florida so don't tell me that it's a normal situation due to salt on the road.
Engine cradle is rusting out from inside frame out, popping large holes in the frame. Had to replace. Chrysler won't help at all with parts or cost.
The engine cradle cross member of my vehicle has rotted to the point that the car is unsafe to drive. There is a service note for a small window of Pacificas included on a warranty for the same problem, but only for the cars built within a certain date. Chrysler is aware of the problem, but will do nothing to correct it. The cradle incorporates the engine mounts, lower control arms, and steering. If it is not replaced, and breaks while driving, there will be a complete loss of control of the vehicle. I know that my vehicle is not the only one with such a serious issue.
Bought this vehicle used, 11 months ago and have had it serviced regularly. Recently it started hesitating and shutting off at random, usually at lower speeds, but recently at higher speeds too, mechanic could find nothing. Had to have it towed to local garage after extreme cold snap because it wouldn't start. It had been flooded. Had oil changed and plugs changed, and mechanic found the engine cradle corrosion, as many other have reported. Just a matter of time before it is unsafe to drive, and the hesitating continues. I have contacted Chrysler 3 times on this, and they continue to tell me that my car is way over the mileage and not within the extended warranty time frame. It is obviously a design flaw, and the parts made with inferior materials. Please issue a recall to include all Pacificas and make Chrysler take responsibility for this.
My 2004 chrylser Pacifica was purchased new in Aug 2003. I brought the car in for an oil change at dealership. Dealer contacts me to have me see the car while on a lift so that I may view the extensive rot of the engine cradle. The underside of the vehicle is totally fine as far as rust except the cradle that is full of holes. Cost to fix $2400. Contacted representative at Chrysler - two representatives stated that although there was a bulletin sent out to extend warranties on some 2003 and 2004 Pacificas, mine is not one of those included and since it was an extension of warranty up to 10 years, it would not be considered under that extension anyway. Clearly this is a defective part. Chrysler knows this as evidenced by the extension to fix these in the first place. A clear safety concern as the engine is not secured. This should be a recall!.
Chrysler service bulletin: 13-001-10 service bulletin no. : wb-d-10-34 NHTSA id number: 10045080 motor cradle has rusted out structurally unsafe, will not pass inspection may cause a severe dangerous accident. Chrysler has extended the warranty on 2004 Chrysler Pacificas that were produced February 2004 - March 2004. My car was manufactured in may 2004. I have the same symptoms the cars produced only 30 days prior! my repair needs to be covered.
Engine cradle is rotted.
