36 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/26/2025

Vehicle states "stop safely vehicle will shut off soon" with a red turtle logo. I have restarted the vehicle, and the warning persists. I am bringing in the car to the dealer next.

37 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2025

After the 73b recall was performed on my 2018 Chrysler Pacifica hybrid, the vehicle began experiencing persistent check engine lights and charging issues, especially during charging. Diagnostic scans revealed codes u0412 (invalid data from battery energy control module) and p0bbe (hybrid battery pack voltage variation), both directly related to the high-voltage battery system. These issues began within days of the recall and escalated, with the battery fault becoming permanent by late may 2025. The recall was issued due to a risk of fire from the high-voltage battery, caused by defects that can develop over time. The recall remedy included a software update to monitor for dangerous battery conditions and disable charging if a risk is detected, as well as inspection and replacement of the battery if necessary. My vehicle’s post-recall symptoms—persistent warning lights and charging faults—are exactly the type of problems the recall is meant to detect. The problem was confirmed by diagnostic data and scan reports, which were sent from the dealer to Chrysler’s technical support (star), but the vehicle itself was not physically inspected by the dealer or star. Both refused to authorize battery replacement, citing the contradicting star report, despite clear evidence of battery failure and the recall’s stated purpose. The battery and related components are available for inspection upon request. My safety and my family’s safety are put at risk, as the recall specifically warns owners not to charge or park the vehicle near structures until the remedy is complete, due to fire risk. Multiple other owners have reported similar post-recall battery failures, indicating a broader unresolved safety issue. Chrysler has not provided a satisfactory resolution, and the vehicle continues to exhibit battery faults and charging issues after the recall remedy.

38 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2025

The battery of my hybrid electric minivan was damaged during a recent factory recall, and Chrysler is refusing to correct the problem. Instead, they’re trying to charge me for a new battery. Here’s the background. I recently received a recall notice (73b) for my 2018 Chrysler Pacifica hybrid minivan that warned of a possible vehicle fire. I was advised not to recharge the van and to park outside and away from structures. In January, I took the van to russ darrow Chrysler in the milwaukee auto mall to address the issue. The check engine light came on shortly after the recall work was complete (trouble codes u0412 and p0bbe). I took the van back to the dealership as soon as possible. I was told there was a serious problem with the high-voltage battery and that it may need to be replaced. Chrysler refused to authorize the repair, so the dealership cleared the codes and released the van back to me. On [xxx], the van lost all power while my wife was merging onto a busy highway. She managed to pull over, and we had the van towed back to the dealership. The van has now been at the dealership for over 4 months. Chrysler is still refusing to fix the problem. I have since learned that there are many customers experiencing similar battery failure following the 73b recall. The Pacifica forums (link below) details over 80 customers experiencing nearly identical battery failures after bringing their vehicles in for this recall. My safety and the safety of others are at risk. The symptoms my vehicle is exhibiting are precisely the kinds of faults the recall's software update is supposed to detect. By refusing to provide the full remedy, the manufacturer has left an unresolved fire hazard as well as the risk associated with the sudden loss of propulsion. Thank you, [xxx] [xxx] link: [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

39 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/06/2025

I have a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica hybrid.  I purchased it brand new in 2018.  this van has had sooo many problems, it has been in and out of the shop, countless recalls.  last year it was in the shop for almost the entire year, I think I had possession of the van for less than 3 months of the year.  I just brought my van in for a recall related to the hybrid battery and it was returned to me in December, within 2 weeks there were check engine lights on and when I googled the code that was showing I found a ton of blogs about how people had the same recall done and within a short period of time this code came up and it meant the hybrid battery needs to be replaced.  I reached out to the dealer and brought it in to get looked at.  after a couple weeks I was told that the replacement of the battery would not be covered under the recall since part of the recall solution is testing the battery, and it tested good.  I literally had only had the van back for 2 weeks.  and I have countless records of engine codes showing up for years. I currently have 8 active engine codes showing. I know there is an open investigation concerning the recall I just had the remedy done for and I am 100% sure that this defect is related to that recall.

40 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/27/2024

While driving on the freeway, the van suddenly started to ‘drag’ and alarm that the start/stop system was unavailable. I was barely able to pull off the freeway before the van completely stopped moving and would not start up again.

41 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/24/2024

The contact owns a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated while driving 30-35 mph, the vehicle made an abnormal beeping sound. The message "stop safely - vehicle will shut off soon" was displayed, and the vehicle stalled. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. The vehicle was able to restart, and the contact continued driving. The contact stated that the failure had previously occurred while her husband was driving at an undisclosed speed. The contact's husband was able to pull to the side of the road, and the vehicle was able to restart after an extended period. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed as a low voltage failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA action number: pe22008 (power train). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 73,692.

42 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2024

The contact owns a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact had to press the push-to-start button several times for the vehicle to restart. The contact stated that the lights were out on the gear shifter. The driver was able to shift to park and then continued driving. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with a corroded wire in the active grill shutter system. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The contact replaced the battery. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the local dealer and also the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

43 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/21/2024

The vehicle randomly stalls, goes dead and becomes unresponsive. This has happened numerous times at lights, stop signs and in the middle of the road.

44 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/12/2024

On [xxx], my vehicle produced a large red wrench and a turtle warning on a busy highway and I was forced to pull to the side with my [xxx] son in the car, as the vehicle lost motive power. It was towed to the dealer and after several days, they told me the issue was due to normal wear and tear in the transmission. I had to escalate to a service manager to even get a diagnosis after 5 days in the shop. I believe my transmission issue is due to a failure of the fix implemented in the 03a/NHTSA 23v-010 recall. It has been documented that the software update did not fix the issue. My vehicle experienced the exact series of failures described in the recall. Chrysler is refusing to fix my vehicle, even though they had extended the warranty on my Pacifica to unlimited miles/unlimited years because of all of the transmission issues the model has experienced. I would appreciate it if someone could look into this and Chrysler's unwillingness to stand behind their products and provide fixes for their recalls that work. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

45 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/12/2024

I have a Chrysler Pacifica hybrid which has had multiple recalls for the battery causing fires with no resolution. The NHTSA website said to submit a complaint "if the manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall for your vehicle in a timely manner". The most recent recall was in July without resolution but the battery has been recalled multiple times over the last few years without actual fix being done.

46 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2024

There was a fire of unknown origin within the van. The fire was self extinguished and contained to the inside of the vehicle. No one was in the vehicle at the time of the fire, and it was found about 45 minutes after leaving the vehicle parked.

47 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2024

The hybrid battery coolant heater (part 68443445ac) was confirmed a problem, however the dealership wont review any recalls on my vehicle until I pay $1700 to replace that part. However, there are multiple incidents online showing this is a problem with this vehicle and should be a recall as this is obviously defective within the first 150000 miles. My car has roughly 124k miles, making it just outside the warranty coverage. Shortly before this lamp warning (check engine) came on my steering wheel started "sticking" making it hard to steer in a curve, causing me to veer off the road. Within 7 days of this happening, is when my check engine light appeared, throwing code poe15. The heat now also takes much longer to warm up- like 30 minutes longer. The dealership said none of the issues are connected, however after online research I have determined that is not true.

48 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/31/2024

The contact owns a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated while reversing, the back-over prevention camera screen failed to function as intended. The back-over prevention screen displayed a black screen. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with computer and electrical system failure. The contact was informed that the back-over prevention assembly, instrument cluster, and electrical system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was informed of an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not associated with the recall. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 135,000.

49 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2024

Chrysler has still not offered a remedy for this recall . The vehicle was purchased used and selling dealer did not provide recall info until the sale had been completed. I love the vehicle except the possible fire hazard in the recall makes me nervous to drive it . Chrysler told me earlier recalls were for this hazard but now says remedy is incomplete!!.

50 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/24/2024

The vehicle has stalled several times while driving and while at a stop light leaving the van completely disabled and it will not turn on or start again. My wife and 2 year old were put at risk when the vehicle stalled on them at a major intersection and my wife was unable to put the vehicle into parking or drive since there was no power after it stalled and dashboard lights flicked on and off multiple times. . Stall has also happened at drive thru almost causing collision with vehicle in front. The stall produces dashboard error messages reporting an internal transmission malfunction, auto start/stop error, and or a problem charging the battery. Certified ase mechanics can’t reproduce the issue or find anything to pin point the issue after multiple diagnostic tests ran and physical thorough inspection. Every time a stall happens loads of error codes (85+) pull up but none point to the root cause of stalling happening. Vehicle has most up to date software update done over a year ago.

51 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/13/2024

The contact owns a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the power steering and braking functionality were inoperable. The contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the batteries and the alternator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 19v348000 (electrical system). The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 104,417.

52 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2024

2018 Pacifica with multiple similar issues. August 2018 - recall - reprogram powertrain control module may 1019 - recall fixes (power steering and ball joint). July 2021 - start/stop light came on - took to dealership and they replaced the battery for that system. Feb 2022 - recall customer satisfaction notification 1 y65 July 2022 - issues begin - cylinder misfire - and car would not start and was smoking. Van was towed to dealership. The dealership had the van for 2 months and had a difficult time really diagnosing the issue. They ended up replacing the right cylinder head - which is a major part of the engine. Just being over the 60,000 mile mark, we had to fight with Chrysler to honor the warranty on this very expensive fix. Spark plugs were also changed at that time. August 2024 - check engine light is back on, as well as the automatic start/stop button. We took to auto zone and the diagnosis was cylinder 6 misfire. All along we have felt there should have been a recall on this van. Is it an electrical issue that is failing? searching online there are a lot of these complaints about cylinder misfiring issues with this year/model. It also looks like there may have been a class action lawsuit as well. A 4 year old van should not need a major engine repair. Now here we are 2 years later with a 6 year old van and having a similar issue. We are worried it is going to be another costly fix. We have had nothing but issues with this van and it is unacceptable, especially regarding a brand new car. We have all our receipts indicating appropriate and timely oil changes and transmission flushes, etc from the dealer.

53 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2024

While driving on the highway, the car suddenly had a flash of start/stop system and then car stalled as soon as I moved to the exit lane. Once I stalled I had to stop car. Wait several minutes, and try to restart car. After several attempts and me blocking busy traffic, it restarted. This happened repeatedly even after technician said they cleared codes.

54 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2024

My 2018 Chrysler Pacifica has ongoing electrical problems that match the same symptoms described in existing recalls, but my VIN is not included in those campaigns. The issues began around 08/30/22. The vehicle has experienced stalling, electrical shutdown, dashboard warning lights, loss of power steering issues, failure of the start-stop system, dead batteries, loud creaking, popping, squeaking noises from the front suspension, especially when turning, backing up, steering lock, or going over bumps. These events began in 2021 and continue despite numerous repairs at mechanics and dealerships. Despite repairs and inspections, the problems continue. I have reviewed NHTSA recalls and found recall numbers 18v524000, 20v334000, 19v143000 as well as battery ground recall for 2017–2019 models, and my vehicle’s problems are identical to those safety issues. The dealer confirmed that my VIN is not covered, so I have been responsible for repair costs. These defects create a serious safety hazard, especially when the vehicle stalls or loses power while driving. It places my family and other drivers at risk of a crash. We have been stranded on highways and in the center of busy intersections due to loss of power. I strongly request that NHTSA investigate whether the existing recalls should be expanded to include additional VIN ranges, since many 2018 Pacifica owners (myself included) are experiencing the same electrical failures. I have had the vehicle inspected/repaired 4/15/21, 9/15/22, 10/2/23, 11/22/23, 8/10/24, 7/21/25, 8/7/25, 9/23/25 for battery ground, electrical module replacement, wiring repair, and strut repairs. The issues persist despite these attempts.

55 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/08/2024

While driving on a 4-lane highway, I received a message on the dashboard "vehicle will shut off soon". I had just a few seconds before power to the vehicle was limited. The engine stopped working and another message was displayed: "battery conditioning leave ignition in run. " after that the car would no longer move and I was in the middle of the right lane. Luckily I could get my children out safely. The vehicle was towed to the local Chrysler dealership where it is waiting for repair.

56 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2024

The contact owns a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated while driving approximately 70 mph, the message that the "vehicle will shut down" was displayed and the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to call for help and had the vehicle jumpstarted. The contact stated that the vehicle failure was intermittent but became a recurring failure. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 118,000.

57 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/12/2024

I keep getting a check engine light with my Pacifica hybrid. The scanner says p1b11, soft code is p0506, hybrid battery or wiring harness. The codes erase after driving for a long while, however, I notice that I’m not able to maintain a full hybrid battery charge for longer than a few miles. After about 5 miles of driving, I’m a 80% of battery life left. Mpg averages about 30+/- something’s not right. It’s happened twice now, both times with excessive outside temperatures. 1st time while idling, 2nd time while stopped for fueling.

58 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2024

Purchased vehicle used and have put on miles. But since day 1 issues have been arising. First the auto stop/start function stopped, 2 years later still unable to find the fix. More recent the gear shift just doesn’t work/turn on randomly or turns off while driving which is a safety concern. Now for the past 2 months the gear shift will not work or while driving the vehicle just loses acceleration and braking and slows to a stall and I can’t do anything until the gear shift turns back. I had 3 children on [xxx] when this started putting all our lives in danger. We were stuck for 2 hours the vehicle ran but was not drivable. Every mechanic says something different and it is a luck of the draw if the vehicle will work when you try it. Batteries all tested good. No obvious other issues other than loss of power steering for a short time. All warning lights flashing on and off randomly but it coincides with the loss of driving capabilities. I just want to be done with this vehicle it’s dangerous and now I’m stuck with it. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

59 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/29/2024

The contact owns a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated the auto stop/start light and head gasket light remained illuminated. While starting the vehicle, the vehicle was vibrating abnormally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed a leak in the head gasket. While inspecting the vehicle, the dealer became aware of a hole in the engine, and that the engine and head gasket needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case number. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 92,000.

60 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/23/2024

I was driving with my family on the interstate and was exiting when the car shuddered and I lost propulsion. Interior electrical power was still functional. This occurred as the car was switching to gas mode as I had been been driving about 30-35 miles on electric at that point. The gas motor never came on. I was able to roll into a gas station since we were on a bit of a downhill. Shut off car and waited a beat then started car again, battery showed 1% and was able to pull 2 more feet into gas station and off to side before it completely died again (battery at 0%). I feel extremely fortunate that this didn't happen a moment earlier when I was on the expressway and that were able to get off of a busy road. I had the vehicle towed to nearest Chrysler dealer and had a friend drive me and my family to a nearby car rental place. After two weeks at the dealer, we were informed that the issue was likely the power inverter module. We are still without car and waiting for updates from service department.

61 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/22/2024

In March of this year (2024), while driving down the road at 45 mph, my Pacifica's dashboard suddenly lit up and flashed all kinds of warnings including abs off, the check engine light, the parking brake, the service electronic throttle control, electronic stability control off, collision off, warning parking brake, and other lights that I'm not sure what they mean. It seemed like every warning light in the panel lit up. The van slowed down and wouldn't let me accelerate and it felt like the power steering wasn't active. I pulled into a parking lot and shut the engine off. After restarting, the check engine light was lit, but the van let me proceed. I took it to my auto shop that said the codes were all electronic/ software related and I had to take it to a dealership. The dealership said they couldn't find anything wrong and that the codes didn't save. On June 9, the lights started flashing again while I was parked in a parking lot while I was on a road trip. I was able to capture the end of it on my camera. I again turned the engine off and on again, and the van "reset" with only the check engine light on. I was able to proceed through the rest of the weekend and the check engine light actually turned off after a day. Then on June 22, the warning lights started flashing again. My son was driving this time (along with my husband and 2 other sons). He pulled into a parking lot to return the van home, but it wouldn't go into a gear. Slowly, they toggled through the gears until it would allow them to drive the van home. He also said that it felt like he lost power steering. Losing steering, the ability to accelerate, the ability to put the vehicle in gear while driving, and losing the abs system and the electronic stability system definitely puts my family and others at risk of an accident. I am prepared to take it to my dealer if asked. It has not been inspected by anyone else accept a local car shop and the dealership.

62 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/17/2024

Head gasket is blown with not that many miles, it's blowing fuses on a daily bases, start stop function won't work. Coolant leaks. Coils damaged, and lastly ac unit won't close properly and keeps making noise.

63 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/06/2024

Vehicle just dies when you brake. This has now happened twice. Once in may 2024 and now oct 2024. You have no steering and cannot be put into neutral or park. Must pull neutral cord to get pushed out of road. No codes pull up other than the neutral cord used. In may 2024 towed to dealer and they replaced starter but could not find anything else. In oct 2024, took it to an independent car place and he could not find anything wrong, just re-boot computer. This is very dangerous; this is a handicap van modified for a wheelchair person to be put in through the back of the van. If I get hit in the back, I can't get my son out of the van. Extremely unsafe! I know the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica's were recalled for this and I believe the powertrain control module software was updated or the chip was replaced. This needs to be recalled for the 2018's also.

64 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/16/2024

While driving a message came across the dash to "service charging system" and then a second message appeared that said "speeds limited" and the vehicle slowed to 44mph entirely out of my control.

65 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/04/2024

There is a loud clicking and popping noise from the front drivers side suspension when turning or going over bumpy ground. The car also pulls to one side unexpectedly when going around corners sometimes while driving the car will shut down and restart as if rebooting a computer.

66 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2024

Frequently replacing axillary battery due to a power draw from the sliding drivers side passenger door. The door has a short in the wiring that has killed the battery and drained the main battery no less than 6 times since owning this since brand new in 2018. Vehicle had been stranded on roadways twice, gas station line once, and parking lots three times due to this short in the passenger door. Since removing the fuse for this door we have had no issues, except the sliding power door is now a manual door.

67 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/04/2024

My vehicle suddenly stops while the car is in motion, it shuts completely off. I had an instance where my car shut off coming off the freeway off-ramp. This has happened on numerous occasions and we have been trying to call the dealership to see if there is any recall. We are never given a straight answer and we feel unsafe to drive our vehicle.

68 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2024

The van auto shutoff during a stop in an intersection. The van did not turn back on when the pressure was released from the pedal. The engine was off and I was in the middle of the intersection. The gear shifter knob was unable to move to a different gear. After multiple attempts to restart the car were unsuccessful, the car finally restarted after cycling through the att, run, start menus without the brake being depressed and then pressing the break and pushing the start button. This vehicle has had the recall work performed related to this issue and the repair is insufficient. The stall is intermittent and difficult to repeat.

69 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2024

The vehicle display reads "service charging system" and switches into limp mode where the vehicle is prevented from driving faster than 15 mph. After leaving the van sit for a time, it drives ok. I took the van to a Chrysler dealership twice after this happened, and the dealership could not resolve the issue. After the second time this happened, the dealership contacted an engineer at Chrysler to try and resolve the problem, but they could not. Chrysler says the problem stems from the charger that is being used, but the error/limp mode occurs not after using a charger. I am concerned that the vehicle will switch over to limp mode at any time presenting a safety risk.

70 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/06/2024

Tried to start car. When start button was pressed the dash lit up like a christmas tree. Multiple error messages. Fcw unavailable, power steering unavailable, fuel door open, park brake unavailable, park sense unavailable, service hybrid electric system, power steering unavailable. The gear indication, both on dash and by shifter was flashing. The car would not turn off. I had to open hood and disconnect 12v battery for the car to power off. Waited 10 seconds and connected 12v and it power on, but the check engine light is still active.
