Accelerator Pedal Problems of Chrysler Pacifica

The contact owns a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while attempting to acceleration onto an expressway the vehicle suddenly lost power and would not increase speed while pressing the accelerator pedal. The contact indicated that the failure had occurred on two separate occasions and while at the same location. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 67,000.

My gas pedal sticks. When I turn on my car to back out of a parking spot the pedal will not move unless I push down hard on it. To avoid hitting cars backing out or parking lots you have to use force on the pedal to move the car and it jerks forward fast with no control other than to hold your foot over the brake at the same time so you do not accelerate into a vehicle.

Driving down my residential street, slowed down slightly to turn into drive then slowly accelerated into and gas pedal sticks---had to slam on brakes to stop from hitting side of garage. This is the third incident I have had in which I am in the middle of driving and the gas pedal has stuck!.

On the most recent failure, the vehicle was towed to the dealer and the dealer advised the contact that the accelerator was broken and the vehicle could not be driven. The contact spoke with the manufacturer and was told that the vehicle cannot be repaired because the part for the vehicle was no longer being produced. The contact stated that the manufacturer had the vehicle for approximately thirty days before informing the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired. The failure mileage was 46,000 and the current mileage was 52,000.

The contact owns a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. While driving at 2 mph in reverse, the accelerator pedal suddenly became stuck to the floorboard, causing the vehicle to accelerate uncontrollably. The contact shut off the vehicle to stop the failure. A police report was filed for the incident. The contact called the manufacturer and was informed that a representative would be sent to inspect the vehicle. The current and failure mileages were approximately 85,000.

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica. While attempting to engage the accelerator pedal it became stiff which made it difficult to move the vehicle. Within a few minutes the contact engaged the accelerator pedal and was able to move forward without any resistance. The vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer and there were no prior warnings. The current and failure mileages were 57939.

Whenever the contact drove the vehicle, she noticed that the accelerator pedal needed more than normal pressure applied to it in order for it to accelerate; however, whenever the pedal was depressed the vehicle lunged forward. My 2005 Pacifica has a gas pedal that sticks. Sometimes you must push it super hard causing a jerking of the car. Also, the abs light comes on after 3 or 4 min. I will feel a hard brake pedal [like their not working] before this happens.

I own a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica. On three occasions the gas pedal on this car has stuck. The car is under warranty. I took it to the dealer, kerry in milford, ohio and asked to have this potentially dangerous situation corrected. Their service people tell me that this is "wear and tear" and not covered by the warranty, and that I can pay $170 for them to clean out the "gunk" under the car, which is likely to be causing the sticking. In over 40 years of driving I have never had this problem before. I wrote Chrysler who initially told me that they couldn't repair because the warranty was run, and then, when I corrected that error, said it was not covered under the bumper to bumper warranty.

Upon parking the vehicle surged/accelerated. This happened three times. Consumer contacted Chrysler. But, Chrysler would do nothing to assist the consumer.
