I’ll put my car into drive an as I’m proceeding to drive say at 20mph my rpm’s a stay at x2000 I’ll continue to speed up to 30,40 mph and my rpm’s will be the same as if my transmission isn’t shifting gears also hear a whining noise as I drive. Replaced transmission inner and outer sensors still having the same problem. Now he’s saying my transmission is shot all together. I put in total $800. In repairs after the purchase of this car and its my only car rn. It’s basically idling up and not switching gears I’ve been to 3 to 5 transmission shops and auto body shops.

13 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2005 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 06/05/2010

Problem #1: abs light comes on. When brake is pushed down, grinding noise starts, and brake does not slow car down properly. Occurs daily, multiple times. Came within inches of crashing into people, property, multiple times. Mechanic says it's wheel speed sensor & expensive to fix. We do not have the money. Problem #2: gas pedal sticks. When changing car from park to drive, gas pedal will not go down. You have to press on gas hard, thus sending the car rapidly forward or backwards, just to get it to go. Happens daily, every time I change it from park to drive. Problem #3: power steering locks up while making a turn. While making a left hand turn at an intersection, power steering locked up and could not turn the car, when I hit brakes to stop, they did not work properly either, almost sending my children & myself over an embankment. This has happened 4 times in last 3 months. Car has been looked at 3 times, with a diagnostic ran on it each time. Response is that car is unsafe to drive, park it and never get behind the wheel again, is what I have heard from all 3 mechanics. Would love to park it & save my family from harm, but it's necessary to have a car where I live, and we have no extra money to buy a new car, so there's no options. Cost to repair is already at over $800.

14 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2004 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 01/01/2010

I own a Chrysler Pacifica 2004 awd. The vehicle has had numerous suspension problems, such as a clicking sound and an unstable vehicle. I believe it might be the front cradle of the vehicle but am not sure if this is the exact cause. Also, when I brake, the car makes a huge thud sound. I replaced the brakes and rotors as the dealer has done but the noise is still there. Please investigate this matter as many other Pacifica owners have encountered this. Thank you so much.

15 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2006 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 01/01/2010

2006 Chrysler Pacifica -- axle clanks when I lift my foot off gas pedal when slowing down in traffic and then put foot on gas pedal at any speed. . Took in to Chrysler dealer and they said need new axle which will cost $1000 plus tax approx. Said this is common to Pacifica's and my problem was not as loud and as bad as other Pacifica's they have seen and worked on. I don't see why I have to pay for this repair when this is "common to Pacifica's". In fact my own mechanic looked at it and said the very same thing --- why wasn't vehicle recalled. What can I do? I don't have $1200 to fix this. And if Chrysler mechanics say this is "quirk of the Pacifica's" , then why is the repair on me? I'm worried this will get to the point where I cant drive the car.

20 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2004 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 07/07/2008

2004 Chrysler Pacifica. I purchased a Pacifica on 4/23/08, on 4/25 I noticed that it was not shifting smoothly but really wasn't affecting my driving. On 7/7/08 while driving the car stuttered while trying to shift once again and then threw itself into a low gear. This caused the car to jump forward and almost hit another vehicle. The car would not shift after that. I dropped off the car at Dodge service on 7/9 and got the car back 7/14. The car did the same thing again 7/15 and was dropped off the same day, I picked up the car on 7/22 and by 7/23 midday was back in service again. I picked up the car on 7/29 and 7/30 the car was returned to service I have been told that the car will be ready by 8/4 to pick up. This has almost caused several accidents and several hours of work missed. I am afraid of driving this vehicle as I drive with my 2 kids in the car and also in school parking lots, the way it jolts forward when it decide to act up could be lethal in a school lot where kids are. Upon ordering a carfax report we found that this is a continuing issue since 2005.

24 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2007 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 12/11/2007

I took my car in for transmission issues, ever time I would change my gears the SUV would jerk. I took it in, and they said I had a broken front and rear motor mound. So they replaced the front, and orders a rear. After leaving the that day my esp/bass light came on and my power light can my car rear tires were locking. I called them the next day and took it in 2 days later due to being booked, and they fix the rear mound, but said nothing was wrong with the esp/bass light and the other lights. My transmission is still jerking when driving. So I took it to their other dealership, I told her my engine light cam on and will not turn off now. My car seem to want to die. I got scared, and stopped waited 30mins then turned it back on, and lights were still on. So now my transmissions jerks, they said they fixed my motor mounds and that would fix it, but didn't. My brakes are now knocking, and they said it will do that because the car notices water on road so they knock. Lol that full of it. Yesterday there was no rain, and they were knocking when I would brake. Very scary. My car sometimes feel like it's going to die when I take off. They said there's nothing wrong. When I hit a bump, the front end sound like there's something loose . Feels like my engine is just sitting there. One of the tech told me when I went in the last time which was 12-17-07 the had a recall on motor mounds due to my engine being so powerful it brakes the ones on there due to using same 06 models mounds. So I told them why haven't I been informed of this. They said well when they brake you just come in. Just to let you know, I haven't even paid my first car note. I picked it up yesterday, and still it jerks and when I push the brake in the shifter is knocking now!! I told them I going to see about the lemon law, they said I don't have one. Where do I stand. I have three children and I feel this car is unsafe for us, they make me feel like I'm crazy when I tell them about what's going on.

The 2005 Chrysler Pacifica was burning oil at 1 quart per 1000 miles. The dealership took the engine apart and replaced the valve seals. This helped and slowed the oil consumption,, but did not fix it. Now the car was still burning 1 quart 1000 miles, which Chrysler claimed was perfectly normal , according to their policy. The manager at the dealership stated that this was not a problem that Pacifica's had and seemsed to be unique to this car ,and a few others. Chryslerwas still refusing to fix the problem. If allowed the oil to burn at 1quart. Per 1000 miles, then at 3000 miles oil change the vehicle will be 3 quarts low, leaving only 2. 5 quarts. Of oil inthe car. This was 2 quarts. Below the minimum level for safe driving according to the Chrysler Pacifica owner's manual.

30 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2004 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 06/25/2006

While I am driving and if my air conditioner is on there is a dramatic loss of power to the engine, if I am at a stop light and have to climb a hill from a complete stop I in most cases have to turn the power to my air off so the engine will increase its power and I can climb the hill. If I do not turn the air off the rpms race up really high and I am only going maybe 20 miles per hour and the transmission will not shift and the engine is roaring. So once to the top of the hill it finally shifts but extremely hard as though something underneath the vehicle just broke. . Another thing that happens is also a problem with the transmission and how hard it hits when it shifts, it has always seemed like it was not fluid and easy as it should be. Almost as though it is difficult for it, especially coming down from about 35 miles per hour and lower down into the second to 1st gears. It worries me that a vehicle in its price range and considering what I paid for it that it should be more of a joy and comfort for me to own and drive than it is. I am afraid that one day that the transmission is going to completely stop shifting since it is such a struggle for it to do so. . . What are the rules for a consumer that believes they have a vehicle with defaults or a lemon? is there anything a consumer can do ?.
