1 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 01/19/2020

Came to full stop at a light on a 2 lane highway. There was no one in front of me and one care behind. Almost immediately after stopping for the light, the engine stopped, the transmission indicator light flashed the light under "d" and the gauge cluster flashed multiple lights. I can only remember seeing fwc or fcw flashing but there were other lights. Auto start/stop was not disabled so I was initially not surprised by the engine stopping at a light. To restart, I had to place transmission back in "p", hold the brake and push the ignition. I then, despite having our seat belts on, had to disengage the parking brake by pushing the button. This usually happens automatically when the vehicle is placed in "d". Once we returned home, the driver's side power sliding door would not operate. We had to open it manually to get my son out. The passenger's side worked like it should. Both these things have happened to my wife (the primary driver) several times and reported to the dealership. They have been unable to replicate the problem or fix it.

2 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 12/28/2019

While driving, vehicle completely lost power/stalled. Power steering lost, all acceleration and power assisted braking. Indicator lights for variety of systems light up. Pull over to side and restart vehicle. Vehicle exhibits "haywire" behavior, with indicators for all systems, including traction control tire pressure, battery, hybrid electric system, parking brake, etc. Going off. A short video was taken of this behavior when restart was attempted after the stall. Vehicile fails to restart. After additional try, vehicle starts, and traction control and some other systems remain non functional. Vehicle is returned home, then returned to dealer, who advises that vehicle firmware is up to date, and that the issue "cannot be duplicated. " vehicle was up to date on previous recalls relating to stalls. The stall was incredibly dangerous, and dealer does not seem to have any idea what source of the problem is. We have been sent away, being told to return the vehicle if problem shows up again. We do not feel that vehicle is safe to drive, and dealer has done nothing to address or diagnose the issue that caused the problem. The issue came after some other issues with vehicle sometimes indicating that airbags need service, or not recognizing that seatbelts were buckled. I believe the issue to be related to problems with computer firmware governing the vehicle.

4 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2006 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 01/17/2019

I have been told that my engine cradle is rusted beyond repair and will need replacing. Chrysler recalled 2004-2005 in rust belt areas to replace engine cradle. This issue affects 2004-2008 which my car is a part of. This rust issue could cause the motor to fall out from the engine cradle and cause serious safety risk.

5 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 01/09/2019

Rough idle and constant rattling noise at highway speeds coming from the lower passenger side of door. Driver's side seat belt area rattling when driving on country roads.

6 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2004 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 03/04/2018

We own a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica with around 117k miles on it. My daughter drives it. While changing the engine oil on it last weekend, I noticed severe corrosion (perforation actually) of the vehicle engine cradle. The passenger side of the cross member is rusted completely through on the bottom and the driver side is about 70% rusted through. As this cross member is what holds the engine in the vehicle and acts as the base of the front suspension, I don't believe this vehicle is safe to drive anymore. Should this structural component fail during highway driving, I believe the vehicle would become unstable and uncontrollable which would be a hazard to the driver, passengers and other motorists. Yes, we live in wisconsin (part of the salt belt), but this amount of corrosion on such a crucial structural component is crazy! the vehicle has only been on the road for 14 yrs and for only 117k mi. I would understand if the body started to deteriorate in that amount of time, but not a supporting frame member. I don't believe the engine cradle was properly treated against corrosion, or the design of the cradle made it susceptible to excessive localized corrosion and the manufacturer should be held liable for repairs.

8 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2005 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 08/18/2017

Sub-frame broke on me. It is the exact part that was recalled for the 2004 Pacifica. However there is no recall for 2005? the sub frame broke while I was driving, with a children in car seats in the vehicle. This is a real safety concern, especially in the "salt belt" Chrysler's self admitted insufficient protective coating on the sub frame of these cars, should be enough proof, to raise eyebrows and remedy this safety issue. I cannot afford to repair all the damage this caused, and Pacifica's cannot hold a resell value, as selling this to another person, is just like handing them a ticking time bomb. Why is there no solution or help on this issue? I am not alone with these issues. I suppose it will take deaths from this faulty part before any real action is actually taken. Having a strong piece of metal to keep my motor from falling on the ground isn't to much to ask, or is it? the only option I have to keep my primary vehicle on the road, is to try welding the sub frame and hope for the best.

9 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2004 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 07/22/2017

I have Chrysler Pacifica 2004. Have taken good care of vehicle, no accidents. Vehicle began shaking violently when driving down road. I have brand new tires . Had them rebalanced couple of times . Still vibrating violently. My mechanic could not find any problems except that engine cradle for engine is badly rotted out with rust. I looked on line for problem and see that Chrysler had not properly coated the engine cradle and has led to frequent problems and dangerous driving conditions, due that the engine could fall out of vehicle. This is of no fault to owner. I didnt feel safe driving a vehicle that the motor could fall out of. This is a safety issue that Chrysler should be responsible for. A consumer should not have to worry that there seat belt or air bag might fail and they definitely shoudnt have to worry about there engine falling out of there car while driving down the road, which could lead to a wreck or fire. Thank you for your time and consideration.

10 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2004 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 02/23/2017

I purchased a used vehicle from a local auto dealership on January 30, 2017. After driving the vehicle everyday for about a week I began noticed the car would shake and pull to the left even while driving at very slow speeds. On February 23, 2017 I took the newly purchased Chrysler Pacifica in for an oil change. I received a call from the mechanic about 15 mins after I dropped the vehicle off and he informed me that my front engine cradle was severely rusted and if I continued to drive it the engine could fall out at any minute. I rushed back to the location that my vehicle was being serviced and I was shocked at how bad the engine cradle actually was. There was at least an inch gap indicating it was beginning to separate from the body of the car. I took pictures of the damage and emailed them to the dealer that sold me the vehicle. I also did a quick internet search for front engine cradle damage in 2004 Chrysler Pacifica's and came across numerous consumer complaints having the same issues with 2004 Pacifica's. I also found Chrysler previously issued an extended warranty to resolve defective engine cradles for owners residing in salt belt states and vehicles with under 150k miles. Confident that my vehicle qualified for the extended warranty I contacted Chrysler directly. I was informed by the Chrysler representative that the Pacifica I currently own does not qualify to receive repairs under the extended warranty because it was built in January of 2004 and warranty only covers front engine cradle damage to vehicles that were built after February 23, 2004 and before March 31, 2004.

11 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2005 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 11/21/2014

My check engine light came on and the car was vibrating and making noises, had it checked by a mechanic. I was told my engine was about to fall out of my car due to rusting. The total cost of repairs was more than I wanted to spend however the mechanic said it wasn't safe to even drive off the lot a mile down the road to trade it in. So I had no choice but to pay to have it fixed. This could have caused a serious accident and had I waited a day later to have it checked out myself and my kids could have been seriously injured. Chrysler doesn't want to take responsibility for not properly coating the engine cradles and some of us live in the snowbelt!!!.

12 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2005 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 01/01/2014

My vehicle's engine cradle and/or subframe is completely corroded and rusted. I have one very large crack in the engine cradle and another forming. The bolts and many other parts are rusted and rotted through. Chrysler is aware of this issue and has been for a long time but, since my car was made 6-8 weeks outside of their extended warranty period, they have refused to help me (while at the same time offering relief to others in my exact situation). During my initial discussion with their customer service, a supervisor told me not to call again and, despite not knowing the full extent of my particular problem, told me that Chrysler would "absolutely" never do anything to help me. Chrysler has also refused to explain to me what was done differently to my engine cradle and subframe compared to vehicles made on March 31, 2004, the day the extended warranty ran through. My wife and I have owned this vehicle since 2006. It's the only car my 4- and 5-year-old daughters have ever known and to learn now, years later, how dangerous the vehicle is in saltbelt states makes me terrified about any other problems with Chrysler vehicles that the company has chosen to keep secret. I am fortunate that we learned of the problem before the engine cradle failed altogether, which clearly could have led to serious injuries and/or death.

13 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2005 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 10/21/2013

While in for repairs, our mechanic diagnosed that the engine cradle of our 2005 Chrysler Pacifica touring awd sports tourer 4-dr has rusted almost completely through and advised that the vehicle is unsafe to drive without immediate repairs. According the mechanic, the engine cradle supports both the engine and the front steering/suspension assembly components, that could cause the driver to lose control upon failure, and cause a crash. After conducting research on various websites, I found that numerous consumers/owners of Pacifica models manufactured between 2004 and 2006 are reporting this issue and Chrysler is aware of this specific problem and listed it as a possible defective part. In response, Chrysler has issued an extended warranty, limited to certain states (which they refer to as 'salt belt states") covering repairs for this problem. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where we purchased it, examined and submitted a request to Chrysler for coverage, which was denied. We were told that our vehicle was not covered because we did not live in one of these defined "salt state zones". Despite offering to provide evidence from kydot and local county transportation offices verifying that our area does in fact experience a high volume of roadway salt use, Chrysler continues to deny extending any coverage for the affected vehicle. Given the seriousness of the problem, and the large number of consumers potentially affected, I would ask that NHTSA & odi conduct an independent investigation and negotiate with Chrysler to broaden the coverage to include any Pacifica exhibiting signs of this defect.

14 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2005 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 08/21/2013

I recently took my 2005 Chrysler pacficia to the shop to have the pulleys changed on the engine for the serpentine belt, and new tires and alignment. When the car was on the lift, my mechanic pointed out to me that the engine cradle is rusted and will need to be replaced at a cost of $5000. The car only has 94k miles on it. This seems to be a wide spread issue. I am the 2nd owner, the 1st was a lease through Chrysler and I purchased the car from a local Chrysler dealer in 2008. Going to start contacting Chrysler and the attorney generals office in MA to see what can be done since there is no recall on this.

15 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2005 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 03/06/2012

Driving my vehicle in town taking my kids to school and with no warning the car just stopped. Felt like we hit a wall. Luckily me and my children were not hurt except for some seat belt bruising. While looking around online I found there was a recall on the 2005 Pacificas for this same problem. I called Chrysler to tell them I want it fixed and they claim my vehicle is not part of the recall and wouldn't help me. I asked if maybe it should have been a bigger recall than they thought and maybe they made a mistake so could they please look at it and make sure the part that was recalled wasn't the same problem I'm having. They wouldn't assist me in any way. This is unacceptable and unsafe for me and my children.

16 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2008 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 06/29/2009

Purchased a 2008 Chrysler Pacifica with approximately 32k miles on it. The car was "certified" by Chrysler. At approximately 44k miles the engine would bang when shifting out of park to reverse or drive. According to the dealer the engine mounts were torn and needed to be replaced. I was told engine mounts are not covered under warranty because it's considered normal wear and tear and it would be around $700 to fix. I reviewed the Chrysler owners manual and there is nothing that mentions motor mounts needing inspection for wear and tear. The standard items are listed such as oil, tires, filters, belts, fluid etc. If motor mounts are subject to normal wear and tear shouldn't they be listed so an owner can have them inspected? the certification checklist also didn't include an inspection of the engine mounts. Chrysler doesn't offer any information on the motor mounts in their warranty, certification inspection or owner's manual. After further research I've found numerous websites with other Pacifica owners having the same exact problem with the motor mounts. Failing motor mounts appear to be a factory defect Chrysler is ignoring.

17 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2004 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 08/08/2008

I have a chyrsler 04 Pacifica and it has been trouble for way over a year now. It needs motor mounts and there is none available and has not been in a year. The chyrsler dealer and corporation has no clue to when and if they will ever have these mounts. I still have thousands of dollars to pay for this car and it is about to put me on my two feet. I have had to replace two sets of head lights in which both times they went out at the same time and I have had to replace the alternator and starter within a month of each other and the idle pulley had to be replaced. The only thing that chyrsler recalled that was recently fixed was the erg value. All of this other stuff is out of pocket and the motor mounts are in demand all over the u. S. Take a look at topix. Com/ Chrysler motor mounts and you will see 41 other people like me with the same problem.

18 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2006 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 12/04/2006

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that the driver's seat belt failed to function, the service engine indicator illuminated, and there was an internal leak emitting from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was serviced per NHTSA campaign number: 06v432000 (power train); however, the fuel pump module was not replaced. The technician was unable to determine where the vehicle was leaking. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer on several occasions, but the failure was unable to be replicated or diagnosed. The contact was waiting for a response from the manufacturer to determine the recommended repair solution. The approximate failure mileage was 147,000.
