Air Bag Not Deploy Problems of Chrysler Pt Cruiser - part 2

My daughter was driving a 2005 Pt Cruiser convertible and was involved in a frontal crash at freeway speed. She was restrained by her seatbelt, yet her airbag did not deploy. I am the owner of the car and I am very concerned since she was injured and the car totaled and yet no airbag. I am concerned as to why the bag did not deploy.

I was driving my 2006 Pt Cruiser and a girl driving a grand cherokee Jeep ran a stop sign and hit me in the driver side front fender and driver door. My three children were in the car with me. The impact flipped my car 3 or more times landing us on the drivers side. Neither of airbags deployed from the impact. I was driving at approximately 45 mph and she was coming down a hill to the stop sign but showed no sign of slowing down. Her speed was probably around 50 mph. The point of contact was at the drivers door and fender and it was crushed. The car was a total loss. I have a neck injury from the whiplash and the flipping of the car and not sure at this point if it will ever get better. It has been 7 mths. I believe Chrysler should be made liable for the airbags not deploying with such an impact as we had.

The contact owned a 2005 Chrysler Pt Cruiser. The contact was driving at approximately 30 mph when the contact drove over black ice, slid and crashed into a pole. On April 8th, this year, I was in an auto accident in my 2008 Chrysler Pt Cruiser and broke my back; there is a chance I may not be able to work as a hospital inpatient nurse ever again because I have to be able to lift 100 pounds. My 6 air bags did not deploy and my seat belt malfunctioned (it lengthened during the flipping of the car) allowing my body to turn around, facing the rear, and crushed my spine against the steering wheel. I had just finished a 12-hr night shift at the hospital, was just one mile from home, swerved to the shoulder to avoid a rabbit. The tires slipped off the shoulder into the grass (the speed limit was 50mph & I usually drive a little under), I was very tired & over-corrected which caused the car to roll sideways 4 times and then hit two trees. It was about 8am and no one found me for almost 1/2 hr. I was conscious the entire time. I fractured one vertebra (t11) which was surgically fused with my t10 and t12 vertebrae, as well as the 3 vertebrae repaired with titanium rods and screws, and packed with donor bone. I'm blessed it was not worse. I was told that it was a miracle that I survived. I am also very interested in forcing Chrysler to do a recall on the 2008 p t cruisers. If id had my children or grandchildren in my car, most likely one of them would have died. I see enough people die every day at the hospital so I dont want any child,etc. , to die if the same thing happens in their Pt Cruisers.

We own a 2007 Pt Cruiser, a 2007. This is the second Pt Cruiser that we have bought. My husband and his friend, who was driving at the time, had an accident on January 21, 2009. They swerved to keep from hitting a dog and they hit a guardrail almost head on and again the air bags did not deployed and the shoulder straps did not catch. This is the second time that this same thing has happened to us in a wreck with our Pt Cruisers. We owned a 2003 Pt Cruiser, I had a wreck on April 18, 2008, the air bags did not deploy, and the shoulder strap did not catch, as a result, it threw me forward and caused a bad injury to my left shoulder. I stopped at a red light and a car rear-ended me at approximately 50 mph. It threw me forward into the steering wheel and I injured my left shoulder where I had my hand resting on the steering wheel. I had to have surgery and I feel that this would not have happened if the shoulder strap had caught when the collision happened. I feel that this could be a bad problem with the Pt Cruisers. Have you had any other reports of this sort of problem?.

The contact owns a 2001 Chrysler Pt Cruiser. While driving approximately 30 mph on normal road conditions, the contact rear ended another vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. The failure occurred without warning. In addition, the driver's side seat belt failed to restrain properly and forced the driver into the steering wheel. The driver sustained severe injuries and the police and ambulance were called to the scene. The vehicle was towed to the collision center and was completely destroyed. The cause of the failure has not been determined. The VIN was unknown. The failure and current mileages were 151,000.

While driving in michigan on us 23 in a 2007 Pt Cruiser standard. The vehicle approached a traffic jam and slowed to a stop. Then a BMW vehicle smashed into the rear of the Pt Cruiser at rates up to 80mph and the BMW driver never applied brakes during impact of vehicle. The Pt Cruiser then crashed into and totaled a Honda accord. The air bags of the Pt Cruiser never deployed upon impact with the frontal vehicle. All passengers were wearing seatblelts which did save there lives. The back seat was jammed into the front seat where the passenger behind the driver received a broken forearm and almost had a amputated ankle from being caught under the driver seat. The of the passenger in the back seat received broken ribs and a heart attack from impacting the front seat. The passenger in the front broke all ribs and a broken back from hitting the dashboard and arm went into the windshield when the front seat was forced forward. The driver did hit her head on steering wheel and caused a base skull fracture and a broken left pelvic bone. Once again all where wearing seat belts which saved their lives but are unsure in why the airbags were never deployed on such a high rate impact which trapped and seriously injured all passengers inside. I do believe that the vehicle did stay intact enough and the seat belts worked well but the failure of airbags and the back seats slamming into the front seats to me does not seem like a car that received a 5 star crash test rating on rear collisions.

On oct. 19,2007,I was involved in a head-on collision at a speed of 30mph. I struck the steering wheel which caused me neck and shoulder pain along with some bruising. The air bags never deployed. The car is a total loss with over $10,000 in damages and the air bags did not deploy. That does not sit well with me.

I was in a car in September of 2007. I was driving a 2007 Pt Cruiser. I rearend a truck infront of me doing approximately 30-35mph. My safety belt didn't lock and my air bags did not deploy. Needless to say my head hit full force into the steering wheel. Road conditions where dry. It was just stop & go traffic bumper to bumper. I just didn't react fast enough. I was told that the sensor for the air bag was located in the center of interior dash console.

Airbag light intermittently comes on and goes off. Sometimes will beep every few minutes until the engine is turned off for a few minutes. Local Chrysler dealership tried 3 times in a row unsuccessfully to find the problem. I was told it was not a safety issue and that it would not hinder from passing inspection, which it didn't. However I have now been told that when the light is on the airbag will not deploy making it a safety issue that will no longer pass inspection. There are quite a number of reports online of Pt Cruiser owners having the same issue.

Customer believes he had a faulty air bag system. Customer states that the air bag system was faulty because the air bags did not deploy in an accident causing injuries to himself and two other passengers. I was in an accident on 2/24/07 in which a lady ran a red light and hit the front end of my 2006 Pt Cruiser at maybe 30 mph. I hit my head forcefully against the driver panel near the windshield in which my air bag did not deploy and I sustain head injury with loss of consciousness. I now have a hematoma with a black eye, severe head aches, severe neck and shoulder pain, and some dizziness throughout the day, I am also suffering from painful body aches including but not limited to my lower back and knees, towing and paramedics were confused as to why my air bag did not deploy, also the sensor has been activated and I was told that I could be driving and without notice these bags can deploy if the car if fixable, I am afraid, I have 2 children who rides with me in this car. How my times has this happen and are there any complaints about this from other owner of this type of car?????.

I was involved in a collision with a greyhound bus and a Pt Cruiser. At an underpass in tucson I hit the steering wheel while taking a left off interstate 10. The greyhound bus was making a left than a quick right. When his back end went out my cruiser was hit on the front right side, causing significant property damage to the car and landed me in the emergency room with face injuries. The airbags did not deploy.

I was in an accident September 11th at 10:5 0am. I was sitting on the 15 freeway in san diego California waiting for on-coming traffic when I was hit at about 60 miles per hour from behind. I was pushed into the car in front of me and my air bags did not deploy. My car was totaled by the insurance company. My sister called Chrysler September 15, 2005 and asked why my air bags did not deploy. She was told they would have to investigate. Chrysler was given all the information needed to start an investigation. I called again, September 19, 2005 at 2:40 pm and was told that my case was sent to another department, but couldn't tell me what department. Then when asked"how can you tell me it was transferred to someone and you can't give me a name I was told that's all they could do. I called again September 20, 2005 at 8:53 am and spoke with chris who told me that the investigation was still pending. I asked him to transfer me to someone who could tell me the status of this investigation and I was transferred to larry (no last name). I was told they had a week to complete the investigation and I still have not heard anything effective October 5,2005. I would like an investigation as to why Chrysler gives their customers the run around when something this serious happens. I am out of work until ocotber 31, 2005 (so far). I hit my head on something because my air bags did not deploy. I can't remember what I hit my head on. Of course as of now the bruises have healed, but my sister did get picutres of me from this accident. If there is something else I can do please advise me in which direction I can take. 2002 Chrysler Pt Cruiser. The consumer stated that there was a recall on the air bag. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealership. The consumer's were involved in an accident on August 30,2005. The consumer stated that she was hit in the front and right side of bumper. The vehicle had side, front and seat air bags. Upon impact the air bags failed to deploy. The dealership told consumer that if she was trapped by the doors then she was going fast enough for the airbags to deploy. The consumer went to website and printed a form that asked about the problem, mailed the form back to Chrysler and has not received any response back. The consumer stated that the vehicle had damage of more than $5000. The consumer sustained injuries. The dealership said that nothing was wrong with the air bags. A police report was taken which showed that accident was not the consumer's fault. The consumer wanted attention to get this matter resolved. The consumer did not want to drive the vehicle as it was. The consumer stated the seat belt did not restrain her enough. The consumer was told the reason why the air bags didn't deploy was because the vehicle was hit to the right of the sensor and not in the center.
