I'm driving along, cruise set to 65. Ac on. Radio on. No sounds or weird feels from the car. Every light on the dash comes on. They went off after two seconds, with the seatbelt light being last to shut off. Then the car hits 113k miles about ten miles later and just. . . Shuts off. All gauges drop to zero. Ac shuts off. Radio still playing. Full tank of gas. Headlights still on, brakes worked, power steering worked, and emergency flashers worked. I managed to get out of traffic and pull over without causing an accident. I turn the radio off and turn the key off for a few minutes. It cranked right back up and ran a little rough for a moment before smoothing out. I drove home without incident, but kept the radio and cruise off. And stayed under 65. Thankfully, traffic was light. The car has not been fixed as of this posting, nor has it been seen by anyone due to the weekend. Unsure of when I can get it fixed due to finances, but if this happens in heavy traffic or on one of many roads with no shoulder, lives will be at risk.

The electrical system is malfunctioning the fans do not kick on at all, even after reaching temperature. Even when the "air" condition is turned on full blast or the "heater" it doesn't matter which one is used it still doesn't engage the "fan".

All of the dash board instrument cluster lights turn on breifly, car speed starts to drop, lights on dash turn back off,[ all except seat belt lights] then car seems to restart itself and will reaccelerate. All this happens while we are driving in traffic at highway speeds, this is not good and could result in a very serious incident, not only for us but for othe.

Sporadic instrument cluster powers on and off illuminating all lights. When condition occurs it is vastly distracting unable to determine vehicle speed accurately. When the issue is present the engine will typically shut off. This seems like an incredibly bad condition to allow in a vehicle and contacting Chrysler led to no solution for resolving. Internet search suggests this is not a one off situation and exists across several model years. Chrysler does have a recall notice "01v288000" for model year 2001 which appears to be very similar in nature. Due to the highly distracting nature of this condition and frequency of similar owner reports it seems particularly egregious that a recall notice does not exist.

It started with the dashboard lights and the middle stick lights (p,d,r,n++) I can't see at night what speed I'm going or my levels or anything bc the lights quit working, I had the battery replaced I've had the battery changed twice, I've had the thermostat changed twice but it still over heats not too long ago with both of my toddlers in the car on a 3 lane highway locked up on me couldn't use the steering wheel or brakes had to pull the emergency break it's just been repetitive I bought the car from my sister who's grandmother got tired of putting money into it it stutters sometimes like it's slow to shift into gear to accelerate it can happen anywhere. It was my first car it's never been wrecked, I never thought to check for any recalls, I bought it in July of 17. It's only had a total of 2 owners. It used to shake real bad I couldn't go over 55miles an hour but even 55 was iffy. The scariest thing for me was it locking up on a highway with an intersecting lane I had just had everything replaced for a second time before it started smoking and locked up and completely shut down my kids 3 & 1 were in the back all I could think to do was pull my emergency break I drifted and swerved until the car finally came to a stop luckily not wrecking or injuring anyone, just fear of driving I really trusted this car. I had to call the police to get ahold of a state trooper who gave me a couple days to move it given my circumstance and 45 min away from home, a stranger stopped to help and offered to give us a ride back to ironton from the west portsmouth highway he lived in portsmouth out of kindness moved my car to his house there after dropping us off that night to keep from getting it towed. Officer noted everything. I didn't think of anything until I just recently got another 2004 pt that started fire in the headlights and going through a lot of the same problems.

While running at 45 mph all the warning lights came on, the gauges went to zero, and the motor started stumbling. Trying to nurse it home, I stopped at a red light where the previous things happened again but also the motor completely shut off. This left me stopped in the middle of a busy 4 lane highway. Engine finally restarted where I drove it home. This is the 3rd time this has happened and I see where online this has been complained about over and over. I can not afford to throw thousands of dollars at it and Chrysler doesn't care.
While driving all the warning light come on engine stalls even at freeway speeds. Car has to stopped, key turned off and restarted and the errors clear. It has done since it was new. . It has been researched by dealer while in for service. Never fixed it is still doing it. .

Tl the contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Pt Cruiser. On several occasions, while driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled. After several attempts, the contact managed to restart the vehicle in neutral and in park. The vehicle was taken to gary miller Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (located at 5746 peach st, millcreek township, PA 16509, (814) 868-3635) to be diagnosed, but the mechanic was unable to retrieve a fault code or duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 78,000. The VIN was not available.
On 12/21/2018 I took my car to the oregon department of environmental quality to have it inspected so I could get my new tags. I had passed every two years but not this time. I was told there was a new law that required the VIN to show up on the report when they hook up their equipment to my onboard computer/diagnostic system and mine did not. I was told it needed to be reprogrammed into my system by a Chrysler dealership. I spent the next six months trying to find out why it was missing and who was responsible but just got the run around or offers to fix it for a lot of money that the deq inspector told me was unnecessary when I went through deq the second time in may of 2019. I even wrote to Chrysler but to no avail. I don't understand why my car wasn't recalled if this information is required by law but mine is missing and shows up on the deq report. I've included the two reports I have from 12/21/2018 and 5/15/2019. I would appreciate any information you can give me. Thank you.
There was an electrical fire where the radio cup holders and the shifter. Car is undriveable due to the damage. My car was stationary at the time. The radio kept turn on and off. I heard cracking when I went into work. When I came out I say there was a whole lot of damage. I did get the car started and was able to get it home, but it's not drivable since the car died as I was pulling into my driveway. When I went to put it into park it was like park was not an option. Amd the car kept moving so I put the e break on.
Vehicle has same timp and failed fuel pump relay of recall units from manufacturer affecting 2007-2014, Jeep, durango, and town and country. Several mechanics previously could not find the issue with stalling and poor acceleration. This occurred and worsened over 6 months, before the fuel pump finally failing.
Airbag on passenger side does not work. Have had car worked on several times. New computer installed. Am told it is the tipm. Engine light comes on throwing car into limping mode. Will not go above 45 mph. Only has 58,000 miles on it. Havent had wreck yet.
Back hatch comes open randomly on its own. Sitting still while off or on, driving down the road it doesn't matter, it triggers to open randomly.
I don't truly know what's happen to it n if it's been fixed but I do know that prior it would have uncontrollable speed control n steering problems n gps n video n auto recording n radio frequencies.
Intermittently all dash lights come on and all gauges begin fluctuating and the car will begin to sputter and sometimes dies and then it doesn't do it again for miles.
More often than not, all the lights on dash illuminate when the car is first started, sometimes flashing on and then off when driving. If driving, sometimes the car will either accelerate or slow down. Because the speedometer goes back and forth, I have no idea how fast I'm going. If I slow down when approaching a red light or to make a turn, the car has cut off. Looking online, this appears to be a common problem of Pt Cruiser owners, yet I've never seen a recall. Diagnostics ran a few times and no reading shows up. Only told, it appears to be an electrical issue.
While driving the engine will sputter and die. When pulling up to a stop light the check engine light will come on and the engine will immediately die. While driving on the freeway at 65mph the engine will suddenly die.
Tl-the contact owns a 2005 Chrysler Pt Cruiser convertible. Car in motion, all lights came on , lost power, was nearly hit from car behind me.
Car stalls while driving. Sometimes wont start.
Vehicle was parked. Turned off. Multifunction switch that had been replaced previoulsy malfunctioned again. Fog lights just came on out of nowhere luckily I turned around and noticed it. When I opened my car door I noticed the switch was smoking. After some quick thinking I pulled the fuse. If I had not thought of this I belive it would have caught my car on fire and the ones parked next to it. I have had the fuse pulled for a year. Flash forward to my current state in va and it's inspection time. I failed for a faulty function switch. The guys replaced the switch first stoplight I come to no signal. Took it back to garage they said switch was bad out of the box. After this epidemic this will be the 4th multifunction switch that I know of installed on this car. How in the world has this part not been recalled yet. Please do something!.
I purchased the vehicle in December of 2016. The odometer reading was 74,000 miles at that time. It functioned without problems until March 2018. The car was driven about 2 miles and then was parked for about 5 hours. I started the car and drove about 2 blocks at about 25 mph when all the dashboard lights came on, the gas gauge went to empty and I felt a loss of power. It recovered after a few seconds. It happened again about 1 minute later. I coasted to a stop sign and turned off the engine. I turned it back on about 30 seconds later and drove on. I turned onto a busy street and after driving a few blocks in traffic the power loss happened again. It recovered on its own after about 5 seconds. I got off the busy s street and onto a side street. It happened again after driving a few blocks and did not recover. I coasted into a parking spot and turned off the ignition. After about 5 minutes I started the car and drove about 1. 5 miles to my house without incident. The car spent several weeks in a reputable local repair shop. They could not replicate the problem, so could not diagnose. I then drove the car for about 2 months without incident. It has started doing it again. I do not believe I can safely drive it on a busy street or a freeway.
While driving with my headlights and fog lights on, using my turn signal turns off my headlight on that side until the turn signal shuts off. I have also seen this in a Chrysler 300, and a town and country. And, I have seen this in a chevy camaro and a vw. Something is seriously wrong here!!! the date is only because you need a date. It is frequent,.
The tipm (the computer that maintains the whole car) is bad and needs to be replaced in an almost 10 year old vehicle bought new in 2008 with only 25,000 miles on it. It is sending bad signals to the wipers so I cannot drive it in bad weather. Although thre is a powertrain for life warranty, Chrysler refuses to replace the tipm. I was driving in heavy morning traffic it was snowing and the wipers stuck in the middle of the car causing me to be unable to see posing a danger to myself and others. The car also stopped dead in traffic on me a couple of times and there was nothing wrong with the battery I took it to the shop and they found nothing.
We are being treated in a very uncaring, racist, discriminatory way by the general manager dan hamrick 702-432-2401, at #lasvegas chapman Dodge #Chrysler @vegasdcj 3175 east sahara las vegas nv 89104. He has consistently refused to see us. He has never returned our calls. I was even threatened with great bodily harm by the service manager mike nicosia. I made a police report. We took our beautiful Pt Cruiser into las vegas #chapman Dodge Chrysler on 10-13-17 because the #engine light was staying on. They installed an expensive defective Chrysler #mopar totally integrated power module (tipm) and an expensive defective mopar Chrysler power train control module (pcm). Between 10-13-17 to 11-21-17 (approximately one month) I had to return my Chrysler for repairs five (5) times & they installed three (3) pcms & two (2) tipms which were no good!!! my car's engine light came on again on 12-11-17 and my car accelerated by itself, and we crashed!!! this was only nineteen (19) days after my car's very last visit to las vegas chapman #Dodge Chrysler on 11-21-17. Our car sustained great body damage. It cannot be driven. Thank father god no one was killed!!! we had no idea what happened until we read an article about Chrysler's defective totally integrated power modules problems titled Chrysler tipms causing power problems - updated October 15, 2016 Chryslerproblems. Com/trends/tipm/. Amazing!!! that article led us to similar articles. These are the receipt orders (work orders) in chronological order: #6463649-1, #6464576-1, #6465489-1, #6467298-1, #6467796-1. The problems were never repaired and my car cannot be driven. I am charged a total of $5,836. 75 for absolutely nothing!!! pease help me. Thank you.
The contact owns a 2004 Chrysler Pt Cruiser. The contact replaced the multi-function electrical switch, which caused the fog lights to remain illuminated. The failure caused the battery to drain. The customer removed fuse #8 daily to reduce the possibility of an electrical fire. The contact had the multi-function switch replaced at henkel Chrysler Jeep Dodge (1275 w dickman rd, springfield, mi 49037, (800) 865-6185). The failure mileage was 108,773.
After shopping for 1/2 hour, I returned to my car in the parking lot. I opened the driver's side door and discovered gray colored smoke coming up from the steering column hazard button. It smelled odd. Not like wood smell. The auto club towed my car to my local mechanic and disconnected the battery connections as he said to prevent fire. My mechanic said the wires caught fire and melted the connectors. The parts: combination switch, combo switch connector & electrical connectors, shrink tubing = total $320 parts. Labor: remove & replace all applicable models (multi-function switch); replace multi-function switch harness (burned out connectors) = total $380 labor the day of the incident, I drove an estimated 15 miles total with two prior stops.
I was in a hwy. All of a sudden, all the gauges light up and I lost power. I push the gas pedal but no acceleration. I managed to park on the side. I turned off the engine and restarted the car again. This happened just 3 weeks after I bought the car. It happened again one month later. It has been now one week later. I am afraid it is going to happen again. It is a very safety hazard since I always travel on a busy highway.
Takata recall- the car will at random times not change out of first gear. I can pull over sometimes and restart it multiple time and it would work. My windshield wipers also randomly come on now. And the thermometer sometimes will be blank and sometimes will say -12 when it is 90 degrees, and sometimes it is accurate. And sometimes it will light up saying I am in all gears, park, neutral, drive, reverse. It is very dangerous if I am on the interstate, or going up a hill and this happens I can't go over 35 miles per hour without taking a chance of blowing my engine.
My vehicle shuts off randomly while driving 2 mph and while on the highway going 65 mph. Very scary, do not feel safe in my own car. Fear for the safety of my family.
The rear hatch keeps opening by itself while driving. The car is running and moving down the street and you hear the latch on the liftgate activate unlatching it. You get a confirmation notice in the instrument panel that the liftgate is open. It is consistent on the frequency but not caused by a certain event, like hitting a bump or turning or coming to a stop, been going on for about 3 years. Finally did some internet searching and it sounds like this is a fairly common issue with the Pt Cruiser liftgate latches for several model years.
Car looses power, dash lights turn on and off, occasionally turns completely off while driving. All power turns off including throttle and braking power. All lights in car dash light up and flicker while driving. This has gotten worse and happens everyday and everytime car is driven. Has been happening for the past 6 months.
