1 Coolant Leaking problem of the 2008 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 05/01/2018

I purchased this vehicle used last November from a private seller. Since then I have had to replace the airbag clock spring, battery cables, and now I am experiencing problems with my windows and coolant temperature sensor. My passenger side window has fallen into the door several times do to a faulty track. My driver side window has completely stopped working do to a faulty button. And lastly, my coolant temperature sensor failed on me 2 months ago. I cannot drive any further than a mile without my car redlining. I checked for a leak in my hoses and seals and have found nothing. My antifreeze reservoir burns so hot it actually evaporates the antifreeze. I have gone through 6 full size bottles of antifreeze in a 2 months period. I have a noticeably high idle whenever the car starts to get the below the full line and now I have an engine ping. The overheat issue occurs whenever it decides it wants to. My dashboard display goes in and out intermittently and my windshield wipers turn on at random whenever I use my signal to make a left turn. This vehicle is full of electrical problems that I cannot afford to fix. The truth is, I purchased this vehicle with the small cut of life insurance money I got the my mother passed away. I am disabled and this is currently my only source of transportation. There needs to be some serious looking into the Chrysler Sebring from 2006 on up. I cannot be the only one experiencing this myriad of problems.

2 Coolant Leaking problem of the 2008 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 12/24/2015

Our car was running fine and then all of a sudden started to over heat. For a while it was going through coolant thought it was a leak but they didnt find one but then it stopped using coolant from what we can tell and is overheating within a few blocks. Air stopped working and even with heat on it over heats. I saw a lot of complaints about this same issue on these cars starting with the 1996 model and there were recalls on this same issue on 07-08 models I would like to know how to fix it. We tried the thermostat and they checked other things found nothing so I went looking to see if one of the recalls you put out a few years ago was my car maybe.

3 Coolant Leaking problem of the 2007 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 12/16/2014

The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Sebring. The contact stated that while driving at 20 mph, the engine stalled. The contact mentioned that there was a leak of anti freeze coolant fluid and the cruise control had become inoperable. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the alternator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the problem recurred. The VIN was not available. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

4 Coolant Leaking problem of the 2001 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 01/29/2010

Was driving my 2001 Chrysler Sebring convertible that I had only owned for 2 mos. For my delivery job. When I noticed that the engine compartment was smoking bad and also started running really rough when stopped at traffic lights. Added quart of oil after letting the engine cool and it seemed to run fine. Tried to use for work the next day and it did the same thing + died 2x. Took to mechanic and was informed that one of the head gaskets had blown and was also leaking coolant into the engine and a lot of sludge. After getting a quote of $850 I left it at his shop he did further research & called to inform me that the 2. 7 dohc v6 in the Sebring convertible has a history of problems like this and the only sure sort of long term solution was to replace the engine. Also have found out after my own research that Chrysler is doing nothing to remedy this defect. I would very much like to see Chrysler recall these piece of junk engines and do something about this defect.

5 Coolant Leaking problem of the 1997 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 09/29/2005

Known engine problems with Chryslers 2. 4l - 4 cylinder engines - defective head gaskets. We purchased a new 1997 Chrysler Sebring jx w/ 2. 4l dohc 4 cylinder engine in March of 1998. Vehicle was purchased new and maintained by nalley Chrysler in roswell. Vehicle has a little over 19,000 actual miles and should not have any engine problems with this low mileage or use. Vehicle was inspected on several occasions for leaking coolant/oil mixture complained of leaks to service reps on several occasions, nothing found. At last recall - shifter linkage, asked service technician to check for coolant leaks was informed that 2. 4l engine will need a new head gasket. Internet searches show many occurrences of problems with this 2. 4l engine as heads are made of different material than block and they cool and heat at differing rates causing excessive movement and failure of the head gasket. Chrysler has silently warranted many of these engines because of head gasket failures and known problems and defects. Would request reimbursement or repair. Chrysler rep had denied repair. Class action status should be investigated for these known engine problems.
