Whitish/grayish smoke was billowing out of front end of car. Patrons driving alerted us & we exited vehicle. As we vacated vehicle we realized purse was still in vehicle, we ran to retrieve it & as we retrieved belongings, fire engulfed front end of vehicle & shot through front of vehicle & engulfed the entire front portion of vehicle & inside of vehicle. Power steering fluid dripped on engine which ignited the fire. As fire firefighters extinguished the first fire & as the first fire died down the vehicle erupted in flames once again which was ignited by fuel. Power steering fluid and battery acid causing the flames to shoot through the front end of the car (inside) to the back of the vehicle towards fuel tank. The vehicle was a potential fire ball. Vehicle is a charred totaled shell of a car. Towed to a towing/storage lot waiting for inspection by field engineers of Chrysler as well as your team per sabrina case # 10733613.
While driving the engine light came on, loss speed occurred, car felt like in was going to dye on the freeway. No excellaration power. Engine light flashing, throttle light flashing in red. Car has no pick up. I have called Chrysler and was told no recall. I had it checked at local auto shop and code was p0035. Crank shaft sensor. Many customers have had this issue and no one not even Chrysler can figure out the problem.
While driving on a highway at high-speed, all the electrical instruments began flashing on/off. The airbag light began flashing and a chime could be heard. This occurs intermittently (3-5 times per year) and Chrysler cannot properly diagnose the problem. With this latest incident, the dealership told me it would cost $800 for a new power control module. I researched online only to learn there are thousands of people with identical complaints about their Chrysler vehicles, while NHTSA refuses to order a recall. I refuse to allow Chrysler to perform work on this vehicle unless they can guarantee the repair and cap the cost. I purchased this vehicle new and Chrysler failed to disclose two auto body repairs performed prior to sale - I discovered this on the Chrysler website and since spent over $1,500 to repair it because Chrysler refused to accept any responsibility after the lemon laws expired.
The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Sebring. The contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated several times. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer three times where unknown repairs were performed. The failure recurred. The contact also stated that the key would not turn over to start the engine, which was a recurring failure. The vehicle was towed to the dealer several times where unknown repairs were made but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 49,000.
I was getting off the freeway and the car started to slow down and stutter so I turned off the main road and the engine turned off and the power steering went out. Luckily it was a Sunday so there wasnt any traffic behind me but if there had been there could have been an accident since I had no control over power steering or the engine shutting off. There was no indication on the dash board that there was a major issue. I tried to start it a few times but had to wait over 5 minutes before it finally started. I took it to the mechanic the next day and after looking it over they said I needed a new eingine. It didnt make sense because I change the oil every 3,000 miles and the check engine on the car says there is a gas cap issue. It says nothing about the engine having a problem. I was told the 2. 7 engine has alot of problems and mine had built up oil sludge. Once in a while the car would say to change the oil or say there is an issue with the oil pressure but every time I took it in to get checked I was told the oil is fine. Without the dash telling me there is a serious issue a mechanic will not know of the oil sludge problem until they tear apart the engine. This is extremely dangerous the dash warning system is supposed to let you know when there is an issue with the engine. I really think Chrysler should stop making cars all together because I have seen so many complaints about the issue and there is not enough media out there letting us know of this. It is a big safety hazard we need to know when the engine is so bad it may shut off in traffic. I just had my safety and emissions done 2 months before and it passed just fine so nothing in the alert system warns of an engine problem.
While going 65 mph, the electronic throttle control sensor light came on and the vehicle began to lose power. It felt as though the gas pedal was not working and the speed dropped to about 30mph. After restarting the veh. The problem would correct itself for awhile. But eventually that no longer worked, and I had a mechanic replace the gas pedal. This too did not correct the problem. So when we drive it, at any time, the power deaccelerates and the vehicle slows way down. It also seems like it is not shifting into overdrive and revs at a high rpm.
This incedent occurred will traveling on the freeway at 65 mph. Without notice the electronic throttle control light illuminate and the car decelerated from 65mph to 35mph. This deceleration almost cause the car following to almost rear-end my car. This problem has occurred on other Dodge/Chrysler vehicle. I would like for this to be investigated before someone lose their life.

Car turns off automatically at low speed. Brakes lock at the same time this happens. I took it back to dealer to get serviced, and they stated that nothing was found. The serviceman did tell me that he called the Chrysler corp, and they told him they never heard of anything like this happening but on a forum on the internet, there are many complaints of this occurring. I told the man that it is a safety issue and how dangerous it is, and he agreed with me. This malfunction occurred two times already since I bought the car from the dealer. Fuccillo vw 2242 central avenue, schenectady, NY 12304 (518) 374-9161. My next issue is that I need sway bars. I brought the car back yesterday Dec 27, 2014, because as I was at a stop light, the light changed green, the transmission shifted gears at the same time I accelerated on the gas to go and I heard clicking for about a mile. The noise went away. I explained the problem to the serviceman and I was told that I need sway bars now. I just purchased the car in sept of this year, and I'm so disappointed to encounter all these problems. My extended warranty does not cover the work. I also say that this has been wearing from the previous owner and I am not at fault, nor should I have to pay for the work. I seriously do not even want this car anymore, and I am paying for it monthly from a loan they gave me from capital one financing. This is chaos, and has exacerbated my illness of having ms. I was duped. Please help.
Driving on 195 west heavy rain vehicle hydroplates in front of us no where to go but to hit the other vehicle imy main question is my airbags never came out. . Questioning defect. . . My vehicle was totaled and towed away I am the owner of this vehicle. . . .

Travelling at 60 mph the etc light begins to flash and the vehicle will not accelerate, although rpms increase significantly. This happens many times going downhill. Dealer was never able to repair. Resets if car is restarted, but this is not safe travelling at 60mph on the highway in traffic.
Car wont cut off. When turned off and key is removed car contuine to run. Turning key too off position and removing the key will not turn off car, and there is no way to stop car from running battery is located under car on wheel well.
This car is a death trap and needs to be investigated. Car will lose all power, steering, and brakes while traveling at speeds up to 55mph. This is very dangerous and I almost killed myself because of this issue. I have taken the car to 3 mechanics and they cannot diagnose the problem. Chrysler won't even return my calls regarding the issue, which I've researched and found hundreds of others with this same problem. This is a huge safety hazard and Chrysler should take responsibility for whatever it is that is causing this to happen. I'm wondering if I can take legal action against them. This is absolutely unacceptable.

This has happened on several different occasions--becoming more frequent and lasting longer duration each time. While traveling various speeds (can and has happened anywhere from 5mph-60mph) if any pressure is applied to accelerator after breaking no matter the speed all power is lost to the car a red lighting bolt light appears on the dash and the rpm's will stay between 4,000-5,000. Each time having to pull off to the side of the road and attempt for it to restart (depends on if it will or not--usually takes it a while). Will get up to speed again and if I have to break for any reason or even slow down just a little without apply the breaks it can completely loose power. Also do not have any dash lights when the head lights are turned on. They appear in the center console but went out in 2009 just after I bought the car, and after several estimates in the thousands of dollars it remains with no lights (so in no way can you see the speed or anything else on the dash after dark. ).
The engine is crap. I bought and the then two weeks later it has a bad knock.
Engine seized up while driving it. I was on the parkway and this put me in a very dangerous situation. No lights or warning at all. . . . Car was well mainted and oil changed every 3,000 miles. Sludge build up in engine and I was advised this was a defect on these engines. I was advised by the mechanic that changing the oil regularly would not of prevented the build up, this is a defect and is happening to these engines.

The Sebring hit the car in front of it. Left front of Sebring hitting the right rear bumper of car in front of it. Immediately stopping the Sebring and then having it roll backwards into a ditch. Totally the Sebring. No air bags deployed. Injuries sustained because of airbags not deploying. Weather outside was below zero.
The electric throttle light came on. Car loses power and then will only go 5miles p/hr. . Very dangerous situation when you are on the freeway in busy traffic.
Car engine reeves up and car jumps forward at stops, or car wants to die. Took to pensacola FL. Chrysler dealer spent over $800 to fix. Still does it. Now engine is starting to nock. Frayed to take back. Cannot afford the assessment fees every time you take it in.
Attempted to start vehicle in the morning, turned the key to crank motor and the engine would not start but continued to crank. Eventually it stopped cranking, I attempted to start vehicle again then it started. Began driving my car down the highway and the air bags light started going off and stayed on for the rest of my drive. Also while driving around corners the brake light will go off as well as going down some hills.
The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Sebring. When the contact started the vehicle, the engine warning indicator remained illuminated. The dealer stated that the engine's fifth cylinder was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000. . . Updated 0828-14.
My husband and I were going to a friend's house. On the way the all of a sudden the engine started knocking loudly. He pulled over to check all of the fluids and everything seemed to be fine. When I got home I researched the issues and about 99% of 2001 Sebring convertible owners experienced the same engine problems and it stated that it was due to oil sludge. I called Chrysler and informed them of the issue and was told to take the car the a dealership near me. I was able to enjoy my car for about 2 days. They will continue hearing from me for a long time because I am a person that never gives up. I will pester them everyday until my demands are met with fixing or replacing my engine. It is not anyone's fault that they made a crappy engine for this model. Let the games begin.

Six months after purchasing a used Chrysler Sebring 2005 from a local dealership, a large stream of oil began (and continued) to pour out of the drive shaft seal when the engine was running. The car was taken to a service center where the problem was diagnosed as a bad drive shaft that had ruined the engine block and drive shaft seal. The only fix they offered was an engine replacement (which would cost more than the original cost of the vehicle).
The contact owns a 2008 Chrysler Sebring. The contact stated that the engine light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure could not be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 78,906.
In April 2011, we purchased a 2002 Chrysler Sebring convertible limited edition (with 2. 7 engine) from a privite owner. In January 2013 it was towed to napleton Chrysler dealership in kissimmee. They still have our vehicle. We had purchased an extended warranty from gold key for $2695. 00 which is still in effect, but they will not cover the engine due to the sludge build up. This car was only used for leisure and we put less than 3,000 miles since we have owned it. Also, we had the oil changed using synthetic. My husband is on disability and we can not afford to pay for an engine replacement. Unfortunately, I think we will have to junk the car.

Electrical and engine problems defective engine caused car to cut off intermittently.
I drove my 2007 chry Sebring to a store and pulled into a parking space and attempted to put my car in park, the physical gear shift inside the car was in park but my gage said I was in reverse & my car was stuck in this position. I had this same issue a couple of years ago & was told it happens alot on Chryslers & its a little plastic part that keeps breaking with no recall on it & we are forced to purchase the whole shift level when its not needed. Ready to trade it in because it keeps happening.
While driving at a steady speed, vehicle will hesitate when climbing an incliine or when I accelerate, this is not a steady happening. I have taken it to two different Chrysler dealerships to have it computer checked but nothing shows up. A younger mechanic at the second dealership stated it sounded to him like possibly the clutches were slipping and causing the problem. Since it doesn't show up on the computer he suggested that I just continue driving until such time as it may stop moving completely and then the problem should be able to be found.
The contact owns a 2010 Chrysler Sebring. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked when she noticed that a fire had erupted from the interior of the vehicle. The fire department was called and advised that the fire began on the front passenger side of the vehicle but could not determine the exact cause of the failure. The vehicle was not inspected for the failure nor repaired. The current and failure mileages were 59,000.
I was driving on freeway and engine gave out and I got stuck on shoulder, had to call a tow truck and my mechanic said my engine seized. I have my care serviced regularly and did not know of this engine/oil sludge problem. I cannot afford a new engine or to buy a new car.
Due to an oil sludge issue, my engine cut out on me and now I am having to replace the timing chain and possibly the motor. I haven't gotten the full report back yet.
When stopped at a light with my foot on the brake, the engine sometimes races and the car lurches forward. Engine rpms go up to about 4000, and shortly return to idle. This happens about once per month. This is a safety problem. I could hit the car in front of me or a pedestrian in a crosswalk. I will not let my wife drive this car because of this problem. I have had the fuel injectors cleaned but to no avail.
