I passed a vehicle on a 2 lane highway. When my engine accelerated suddenly it began sputtering and missing badly. I took it to my local trusted mechanic. He said the gaskets were rotten and oil got into the cylinders. He said that this dry rotting of rubber stuff is a common problem he sees in Chrysler. He replaced valve cover gaskets and grommets, ignition coil, and spark plugs. I have also had a popping noise in the front end. He found a defective front wheel bearing, wheel speed abs sensor. My cost $1,328. I have more nightmares about this car. I will never buy another Chrysler.

The contact rented a 2010 Chrysler Sebring touring. The contact stated that while attempting to park, the steering was difficult to turn and emitted a clicking noise. Smoke also emitted from under the hood and within a second, the front end was on fire. The seattle fire department was present. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard for further investigation. The failure and current mileages were 38,217.
Bought certified used 2008 Chrysler Sebring convertible 7/11 with 18,000 miles. Fall, 2011 radio stuck on one am channel regardless of selecting am, fm, or sirius. Dealer offered to sell me new radio. After radio not used for a week, started to function okay again. July, 2012 headlight on message and alarm upon opening door, daytime, no key in ignition, no headlights on, interior dash display lights on but dim like for nighttime. 12/12 interior lights would not shutoff automatically when I exited car, switch not in on position. Ongoing: auto brightness display on radio does not work. Top down on key fob does not work. Winter, 2013 stalled twice at red lights, also had clunking noise when turning. Dealer said steering rack was worn and leaking and had to be replaced (35,000 miles) and was not under warranty. Dealer also cleaned throttle plate and fuel injectors for stalling problem. Even after this service car continued to stall, sometimes catching itself and speeding up which causes car to surge forward. As of today, 8/17/13 car has 40,050 miles on it and I wonder what's next.

Driving vehicle, no sign of problems no lights on or check engine display, vehicle started tapping noise. Towed to dealership, said need new engine. Had maintenance records of oil change every 4000 miles while owners manual states do every 7500 under normal cond. Vehicle was bought used in June 2009 with 50,000 miles on it, 9 months later with 65,000 miles this happened. Had an extended warranty bought at dealership got the best coverage called total care and they will only cover a partial part of the repairs. Vehicle has the 2. 7 engine and there are numerous complaints of this same nature and Chrysler and the warranty companies blame the consumer and will not pay for repairs.

My engine seized up while I was driving home from school Tuesday night. I was traveling at 65 mph when the engine started making a loud tapping noise and then just died. I have a 2002 Chrysler Sebring with a 2. 7l engine. The car only had 37,000 miles on it.
Have a 2003 Chrysler Sebring with a 2. 7 liter engine. I brought the car to a Chrysler repair shop when it wouldn't start, they said it needed a new battery (the battery in it was a few months old) and a new starter. I borrowed the money to pay for them to fix it. Then after driving the car about 15 miles when I got it back, and without any warning or previous symptoms the car engine blows. The Chrysler shop accuses me false allegations of never changing the oil. I proved it was changed on a regular basis. They say improper maintenance caused "engine sludge" which the caused engine to fail. The car always ran quite and cool, but when it failed and I got it to start after 3 attempts, it made a loud clunking noise, the temperature gauge was all the way up (which never happens) and the engine was boiling hot. They now say they need an inspector from my warranty people to come inspect and "diagnose" the engine. They say that cost is not covered to break down and open the engine for inspection and it costs several thousand dollars. Then if they do not cover it, I'll need to pay again to put the broken engine back together for another few thousand dollars, and additionally and above that cost, the cost to repair the engine they say is $10, 000. Chrysler pretends there has been no known issues with this engine but a google search of "Chrysler 2. 7 engine defective" proves otherwise. Millions of their cars have these engines and thousands of people have filed complaints about Chryslers denial of this problem and systematic cover up. My fiancee and I just evacuated new orleans due t hurricanes gustav. She is disabled and we are on the verge of being homeless, that car was the only means of transportation for us and for me to attempt to earn a living.

: the contact stated while traveling 25 mph, a loud clunking noise was heard coming from the engine. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined the problem was due to sludge build up causing damage to the lower end connecting rods. Also, the dealer determined that the problem was not caused by poor maintenance. The manufacturer was also contacted and determined the same thing as the dealer.
: the contact stated the engine was making a clicking noise. The vehicle was taken to the dealership. The dealership determined there was sludge in the oil because of irregular maintenance. Therefore, the engine needs to be replaced. While there is not currently a problem with the fuel pump, there is a NHTSA recall, # 03v443000, regarding the fuel pump. However, the vehicle is not included due to the VIN. The contact is concerned the fuel pump recall may be related in some way to the sludge build up problem.
Vehilce is a chyrsler seabring convertible (2001). Car has been maintained according to schedule. While driving, car died without warning. Clanking noise happened under hood and car stalled approximately 30 seconds later. Two mechanics have diagnosed the need to replace the motor. Quotes to repair range from $3,700 to $8,700. Called chysler customer service. Was told they will not do anything because vehicle is out of warranty. Sent letter to ceo of Chrysler USA and have not rec'd response to date.
When driving any speed, the consumer heard a tapping noise coming from under the hood. The mechanic informed the consumer that the problem was pertaining to engine sludge.
Automobile was running normally, suddenly there was a loud "clacking sound" from the engine, oil light went on, car shut off as I slowed down and pulled off of the turnpike. Chrysler is refusing to honor warranty, despite fact that car has been maintained properly. A new engine is required (this is the infamous 2. 7 Chrysler/Dodge engine).
