I smelled a burning smell the engine light came on so I brought it to my mechanic and he found a lot of stress cracks in the oil pan which is alumimum told me I was lucky the engine didn't seize or ceatch on fire the exhaust pie is under one of the cracks and as the car got hot that crack expanded. There are several more in the pan. This is a safety issue.

On 16jul2011 I tried to turn on my air condition in my vehicle but all it did was blow hot air. I took the vehicle to Chrysler greenbrier in chesapeake va where the vehicle was purchased. Before they inspected the vehicle one of the sales person told "we'll im going to tell you now I we find that your air compressor was damaged we can fix it but it will not be covered on your warranty because we are not responsible for natrual damage". After they inspected my vehicle he responded "I have bad news your compressor has a hole, maybe a rock hit it" and the price to fix it would be 1,500. I explained to him I did not have any accidents, did not hit anything at all. I have contacted the better business bureau. They stated Chrysler responded they are not responsible. I am so upset I just purchased this vehicle last year September and have been without air condition since July of this year.

Bought a used 2004 Chrysler Sebring touring. Noticed 1000kms later that the engine sounded rough. Saw the oil was black. Took the car for an oil change. Car was fine for awhile. About 1000km later problems arose. Yet another oil change was need for black oil. This continued for months. I was just about to make the switch to synthetic oil when my car gave out on me. Mechanic said he thought exhaust was getting into the engine b/c of poor internals, said his cousin had the same problem. P. S. Car gave out on the 401 thank god it was 1 am!.
I purchased a 2005 Chrysler Sebring in 2006 with approx. 25k miles on it, 1 yr. Later it started leaking oil badly. It was found that the front seal on the crankshaft was pushed out. The garage through there resources found found that this was a problem with the 4 cyl. That Chrysler knew about and even knew the serial numbers of the beginning and the end of the defect that had been machined in there engine blocks. This defect allows the crankshaft to float back and forth length wise and push the seal out. They have not done a recall for this and refuse to do anything about it. The fix for this defect is a new short block that is over $4k to be done. The oil leaks so bad that it soaks the undercarriage and rear of the car and could cause a fire by the exhaust being covered with oil.
At 300 miles all inside panels had be replaced. ( the panels had what looked like sun spots in them. But after getting new panel's which had the same spots in them. It seems to be a production problem. On the 3rd set panels. ) at 400 miles driver's window trim started coming loose. The car's insulation or lack of is so poor that you hear the exhaust system grinding on the frame of the car. When you press on the brakes the l/h front wheel starts to vibrate. Both door's leak when it rain's or when you wash the car. On Dec 24, 1998 it rained and with weather droping down below freezing and with no ice on the outside of the car showing I could not open the door's on the car for about one hour. On Dec 23, 1998 I called daimlerchrsler motors corportion customer assistance center ( 1-800-992-1997 ) to find out Chrysler meaning of quality. The answer was Mitsubishi build's the Sebring and that Chrysler has no control over there quality and that what you have warranty for.

Svc engine coolant light comes on indicating engine and/or emission control system malfunction. Dealer can not say why. Light is reset (by disco. Battery). Diag code provides little trbl analy. Info. Car seems to run/operate normally, but tdicate a malfunction in emissions control subsystem. Gas cap is secure at time of indication. Light does not reset automatically even after several days of continued driving. Must disco. Battery to clear light. No idea if this is false indication, indication of minor problem, or indication of more serious problem.
