The contact stated the seat belt came loose and broke off from the anchor of the vehicle. This occurred after putting the seat belt on, it occurred became loose and it broke in his hand. This looked like a metal-fatigue type of problem where individual strands of the stranded cable had weakened and broke over time.

Callled dealer numerous times regardigng the failure of the seat belt. Dealer states not under warranty and estimates repair costing 60-300 to fix, I requested repeatedtly for a Chrysler rep to contact me rgarding this problem as I feel it is a safety issue but to no avail. I have contacted Chrysler directly but they will not repair without an estimate from the dealer. Due to the lack of response form mike shad, icontacted frank griffin chrylser in orange park, FL but they do not return my calls either. Chrysler may or may not repair problem dependent on estimate but delaers seem unwilling to even provide that. My reference number at Chrysler is 4406161 as I have had numerous issues with this vehicle since purchase date.

14 Front Seat Belt Anchorage problem of the 1997 Chrysler Sebring

Passenger side seat belt is twisted in fabric and will not retract outward. Seat can't be occupied until fixed. Dealer was not notified. Consumer stated that driver's side belt was loose and does not fully retract. The vehicle had a recall on full throttle cable however, consumer did not mention if a problem still existed.
