We bought this car used in 2010 with 69,000. It was great for a minute and then. . . Hoses, water pump, tensioners, a lot of tensioners, drive chain, sensor for some timing issue, thermostat, fuel pump, a bolt that sheared off the oil pan. Check engine light was on, with the coded for gas cap. No matter how many gas caps (5). It leaked oil from different places. Get one seal replaced , it would leak from somewhere else. Towed at least 6 times. Last time it was 100 degrees, it started missing, smoking. It ended up being the battery, but I was way too paranoid to drive this car any more. Too much money and stress. Not sure I ever want to own another Chrysler. I traded it in and I am sorry for the next person that owns it. These issues started at approximately 75,000. Traded in at 132,000.

My wonderful father brought me this convertible Sebring lxi on 04/17/2014. After my chevy impala/2002 stalled due to transmission/ignition switch the total cost is $3100. 00. So my dad pays cash for the convertible Sebring lxi. On 05/03/2014, I was driving on the interstate attempting to attend a barbecue. It was a very nice day out. The car starts to overheat and the car stalls and slows down. I pulled over to the side of the road. The very next day, sun may 4,2014. I had the car taken to a mechanic and the engine had jump time and the engine had sludge build up. I was advised that it would cost me $3000-5000 for a new engine. I have lost my job in hr due to not being able to go work. I now own to vehicles that I can not drive and cant even afford to fix the car since I have lost my job. It really upsets me about the condition of the vehicle. There should be a recall on these engines. We the consumers should receive some type of relief. We the consumers rely on the intelligence and integrity of those that manufacture and make the engines. I'm asking that Chrysler pay for me a new engine. That is a small amount compared to the fact I could have lost my life behind the wheel of this car. Had this turned out any other way such as a fatality. My parents would have ensured that " heads would roll". I would hate to see Chrysler in the same "hot seat" that gm is currently sitting in.
I have this car from 2011, I went to the dealer on bakersfield CA, to program the the alarm pager, they change the shift part because have a recall, after that day my car start to stop, check engine light goes off, I change the speed sensor on the transmission, the cramchack sensor, the distributor, the map sensor, the egr valve, the fuel pump and fuel filter, all the relays, the car works for a little and start to stop sudenly, anywere. Some times I go to the store to buy groceries, he start to shake from the suspension, and the car stop 2 or 3 times, on one trip. On August 15 I went to bakersfield to see my doctor because I'm permanently disable, and the car stop on the freeway at speed of 65 miles, I let the car for a wile resting and after that he start again, wen I go out on union exit the car stop again, today I went to the market and I have to push the car all the way to my home. This class of cars gave trouble to every body who had one of this make. Need help to see if you can do something with the Chrysler corporation.

My husband was driving downs the freeway, we were on our way to a wedding next thing we know the made a noise and start slowing way down while on the freeway. Luckily my husband was able to pull over. The car totally stop working. We waited for a little while and the car started back up we were trying to get out of the hot sun. That day it was a whopping 90 degree outside I was very upset. We we able to get the car to the other side of freeway to pull off and the car went out again and would not start. We called a toll trunk which took them an hour to get to us. What had happened is the timing chain broke inside the engine and messed up a lot of other things inside the engine. The said they fixed it but around 29,000 miles and 6 months went by and the same thing occurred again getting ready to pull of at my moms house. The car dealer would not fix for free, the manufacturer only offered to fix the timing change for half off. Which the cost for that was $1800. This was defiantly a safety issue and I do not want this car even though I'm paying my car note still on time for the last 2 years. I am so dissatisfied with this vehicle. Please do an investigation. The is not fixed to this day. The car need to be salvage.

2004 Chrysler Sebring limited. Oil sludge in engine led to engine failure at 50,000 miles. This car was perfectly maintained, including regular oil changes and other maintenance. The engine should not have failed. Apparently this is a chronic problem with these cars. My mother was stuck in the middle of a busy road when this happened. She had just had dental surgery the day before and was recovering from a severe infection. She had to sit in 98 degree temperatures for many hours after having to push the car to a safe spot. The car was almost hit by other cars as she pushed it and she suffered heat exhaustion and other problems as a result of the incident. We have not yet been able to fix the car as it will require complete replacement of the engine.

On April 30, 2009, my well maintained 2002 Chrysler Sebring experienced total engine failure. The engine in question was the defective 2. 7 litre v6 engine which are prone to oil sludge. A stalled lawsuit claims as well do I, the engines were defective in that the engine design caused the formation of engine oil sludge to an unacceptable and improper degree, that the build-up of such oil sludge resulted in excessive heating of the engine, excessive wear and tear of the engine, excessive formation of carbon deposits which blocked oil passageways and restriction of oil circulation in the engine, and resulted in substantial failure of the engine. Chrysler corp and my local dealer refuse to investigate and deny knowledge of the class action lawsuit, which is stalled due to the filing of chapter 11.
Vehicle stalls or nearly stalls during operation in an unpredictable manner. Vehicle will restart. The following components have been replaced without improvement: egr valve, ais motor, pcm, distributor.
