Very major problem. On a cold start, if the car was off for at least 6 hours, it cranks and cranks and cranks for about 8 seconds before starting, when it does start, it revs all the way to 2500 rpms by itself and slowly goes down. If I try to put it in drive before it stops revving, the rpms go up and down by themselves and my etc light starts flashing and I am unable to control the rpms. I then have to turn off the car and start it again to stop the car spasms. 50% when I start it and let it stop revving before shifting to drive, it goes down to 1000 rpms and I'm good to go. The other 50% of the time, it flashes the etc light and stutters and I must keep restarting the car to be able to safely drive it. I searhed up the problem and saw that bad spark plugs or a dirty intake manifold could be the problems. I then got my spark plugs changed and intake manifold taken out my car to be cleaned out. The problem still persisted. I then searched more and went through a thread of people having the same exact problem, people with Dodge avengers and Chrysler Sebrings all around the year my car model is. Multiple commenters in the thread explained that they put through a complaint to the NHTSA and a recall for their cars were made. Multiple people also said that the part in the car causing this problem is the fault of Chrysler and Dodge. Here's a link to the thread: https://dodgeforum. Com/forum/2008-current-Dodge-avenger/226963-electronic-throttle-control-light-horse-power-loss. Html this problem has both happened when my car is in park and in the middle of driving. It happened once when I was in the second lane on a three lane highway. This was the most dangerous situation because the car started to slow down in the middle of the highway until I was able to get to the shoulder and turn off the car. It's been happening since 2/3/20 but today, (2/15/20) was the harshest symptoms.

The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Sebring. While driving 40 mph, the vehicle began to jerk. As a result, the rear passenger who was eating began to choke. No medical attention was required. The check engine warning indicator illuminated. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the intake manifold needed to be replaced and the computer needed to be reprogrammed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 109,000.
I was driving one morning and it was raining. The electronic throttle control light came on and the car wouldn't accelerate over 20 mph. I cut the car off and started it back up and it didn't do it anymore. Until the other day when exiting off the interstate the car lost speed and the same light came on. The restarting trick didn't work. The car runs shaky and is idled up high when started. The car still won't accelerate over 20mph. Had it diagnosed and discovered the throttle body needs to be replaced as well as the intake manifold runner valve to fix this problem. I see a lot of people that own this car 2007/2008 have this problem. Which can potentially be dangerous especially while on the interstate!.

I was driving down the road coming to a stop light when I noticed my car had just turned off without warning. Luckily there was a turn lane and the light was red so I didn't cause any accident. After that I took my car to see why the engine light came on and the mechanic said the code stated it had to do with the oxygen sensor. I replaced the part and the car ran ok until another time I was stopped at a light and the car turned off again. I've noticed the engine light comes on and then goes off after a couple of days. I was told I probably need to replace the intake manifold gasket which I bought but haven't replaced because someone told me about the recall of other Sebrings that had the same problem. The car was running fine and the engine light had gone off and then it happened again with no warning. I looked up and saw there have been other same complaints of the engine stalling as one is driving. The code given was h07. I am disabled and cannot afford to take a risk to drive down the road and this happen again. Please let me know where I should take my car to have the defective part replaced. I am also having problems with the driver side window coming off track and going through the rubber and I am afraid the window will shatter because it won't stop going up. I greatly appreciate any help you can give. Thank you.

Water housing outlet manifold leaks. This is the third time it has to be replaced.
We took our vehicle for yearly inspection and our mechanic said that our 2004 Chrysler Sebring, with approximately 32,000 miles had a cracked resonator cap. He has already seen one Sebring with 29,000 miles with the same problem and recommended to us to call the dealership. The warranty had expired in June and they said that it would not be covered.
2001 Chrysler Sebring with a 2. 7 liter engine prematurely failed at 74,000 miles. Started having problems at 64,000 miles with excessive engine noise and smoke from the tail pipe. This car was purchased new by myself and maintained per the service schedule in the Chrysler manual. The engine gave out about 4 blocks from our home while my wife was driving it, fortunately no one was injured. We have since replaced the defective motor with a jasper remanufactured engine which has several design modifications and a better warranty than the factory engine.

Engine check light illuminated, indicating a malfunction within system, cause unknown. Dealer replaced the oxygen sensor which did not correct the problem. I had the oxygen sensor replaced again along with a exhaust manifold- still did not correct the problem. Check engine light on again! driving at about 65mph on busy highways the car just shuts down. Any information would be helpful.
