I bought the car 2 weeks ago. Everything was fine. I change the oil, replaced spark plugs like I do to all cars I buy. About 2 days ago the oil light started to turn on. Took it to the mechanic and he told me it might be a sensor. Changed the sensor but the light still turned on. Took it back to the shop & after a better inspection he told me it was the oil pump. Told me not to drive it until I get it fixed and that it would cost me $1000 to replace it. I'm writting this complaint because after a search online I can see I was not the only one with this type of problem.

The engine failed on my 2001 Sebring convertible. The oil light flickered on and off and then the car stopped running. The car was towed to the local dealer who kept the car for 2 weeks in Dec , but could not find any thing wrong with the car. Three weeks later the motor has major damage from a oil pump failure.

2002 Chrysler Sebring with 2. 7l v6 engine. Engine has not failed yet, but only because I no longer drive car for fear engine will seize while I'm driving, causing an accident. Oil light started flickering beginning of Aug. 2009; replaced oil pressure switch, which did not resolve problem; mechanic recommended replacing oil pump; after researching, discovered oil sludge issue, which I am 100% positive is the problem with my Sebring. 87,000 miles on car; have changed oil every 3,000 miles; more often than recommended by Chrysler.
