Power Steering Pump Problems of Chrysler Sebring

The contact owns a 2010 Chrysler serbring. While making a turn, the steering became difficult to maneuver. The failure recurred intermittently. In addition, while driving 35 mph, the brakes failed to respond when the pedal was depressed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the power control module and the brake hydraulic pump failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign numbers: 10v009000 (service brakes, hydraulic) and 10v475000(steering). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 99,000.

1999 Chrysler Sebring. Car was caught on fire due to power steering leak. The consumer also had a fuel pump issue. The repair shop stated the connections had burned at the fuel pump.

While in motion the power steering pump failed, nearly causing consumer to have an accident. After installation of the pump, it would only steer to one side. Mechanic informed consumer the power steering rack and pinion was also broken.

Rmps will rev up, and engine check engine light will come on . The dealer has replaced steering pump and switch. The dealer has been having trouble duplicating the problem. The power steering rack has been replaced and light has not come back on but vehicle performance has not improved. Manufacturer has been notified.

The steering system continually experiences problems, power steering pump replaced on two occasions, the steering locked up on several occasions and the steering column was replaced on three occasions.
