Failure Date: 06/07/2010

I have a 1999 Chrysler Sebring which has had the ball joint come out of both sides of the vehicle of the front 2 wheels about 6 months apart. This has caused damage to my vehicle which I have repaired. I am very concerned about my safety and the safety of my family because this last time I was about a mile away from getting on the highway, which could have been deadly. I feel that this is a safety issue and wonder about recalls and if I should be reimbursed. The tow to my home was $106, the tow to the mechanic was $65 and the mechanic bill was $303. This is just the drivers side. This happened on the passenger side as well and I feel I should be reimbursed for both. Documents of these charges can definitely be provided if needed. I am concerned about this happening again, not just my own car but anyone else that may be driving one of these vehicles. Please let me know either way. Thank you.

24 Structure problem of the 1997 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 04/03/2003

The converible roof is unravelling at the seams, making it unsightly and dangerous. I had water in my foor in the back seats and an upholstery shop discover a defect in the manufacture of the body causing the leak. It has been successfully fixed. But the soft top roof to be replaced would cost $1250-. It is my observation that there are a lot of convertibles during the model years of 1997 (mine) and other years (1998- ?). I called Chrysler and they noted my complaint but haven't addressed the problem to my knowledge. I think this should be a recall as I see it on many converibles. What if one of these tops were to tear loose? that's my concern!!.

25 Structure problem of the 1998 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 03/15/2003

Don\\\\\\'t know exact dates but had window trim repaired for leaking on left and right side windows and interior covers under door handles replaced for peeling away under orig. Warranty. Called dealership w/I 10 mos. Because same problems came back and was told that I would be responsible for all costs (including rental car) and then I could submit my claim to see if I would even be reimbursed. Car now has approx. 65,000 miles and took it to be diagnosed since I purchased a 75,000/7 yr. Extended warranty. Paid $75 for diagnoses and approx. $30 for rental car and am still told \\\\\\tough luck\\\\\\ on my repairs and that I am responsible even though they have been repaired previously. Oh, and come to find out if I had been informed correctly the first time that my repairs would have been covered because they are warrantied for twelve months!! of course I relied on an answer from an employee at Chrysler/Jeep in southfield, michigan and since they misinformed me I am sol. I have also gone \\\\\\'round and \\\\\\'round with chysler customer service and they have been very unhelpful.

31 Structure problem of the 1998 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 11/22/1998

The car was involved in an accident at 5400 miles, resulting in extensive damage to the front right side. Since this time, the car will not stay in alignment. The steering knuckle, hub & low control arm were replaced but the right camber was still out. The upper control arm & upper strut bracket was then replaced, but the alignment was still out. Next, the camber was raised but align. Was out. The eng. Cradel and porta-power cradel was loosened to adjust nonadjustable camber/caster and the toe was set. On 10/01/99 the car (13,100 miles) was again returned to repair and they found the right front camber again out of align. On 8/18/00, the car, with 19,300 miles was returned again, with two badly worn front tires (one flat). Again, the car was out of alignment. The manager informed me that these vehicles do not hold an alignment (because they're high performance). Is this alignment problem due to the accident at 5,400 miles, or is it an on-going problem with all Chrysler Sebrings?( dot number: tire size: p/215 55 ).

The head of the match was fizzling and flew upward, it struck the headlined and fell down on the consumers pants. The consumer brushed the head of the match and was able to smothered it with his shoe, he opened the door, bent over and threw it out the window. The consumer looked back and realized the headliner was burning and that the fabric was melting. The consumer was able to put the fire out but in the process he burned 2 of his fingers. The consumer believes there is a defect in the material and that materials in vehicle should be more flame resistant and not support combustion. The moment the match head hit the material it reversed and was immediately being pulled away by gravity. The consumer stated material should not be able to ignite and blaze up from such an incidental contact.
