Front driver seat started feeling loose, airbag light came on, low tire light came on and check oil light would come on every time car is started. A few days later the car didn't feel right and started making a loud knocking noise, took it to the mechanic and found out that tensioner belt became loose causing damage to the car. I had to get a new alternator, tensioner & pull, and transmission flushed/serviced as well as the power steering. Not very happy with this 2008 Sebring!!!!!.

I purchased a 2001 Chrysler Sebring 5 years ago. Nice looking car, but the engine is total junk. Transmission leaks, leaks oil, power steering, massive vibration when at a stop, massive engine noise. Engine is junk. Had to trade in for a much better and reliable car. I will not purchase Chrysler again.

When I purchased the car with approximately 44,000 miles I test drove it and it ran fine. At 60,000 miles the transmission began to give me problems, it made noise only while the car was in drive. I took it to a certified transmission place and they had it for two days and stated that my transmission was fine. Less than 2 weeks later the transmission went out. I had it repaired but im still having problems now the transmission jumps while slowing down between 35 to 30 mph.

The contact owns a 2000 Chrysler Sebring. While driving between 45-50 mph, the contact heard a loud rattling noise coming from the front end of the vehicle. Unexpectedly, the vehicle began to steer in one direction without assistance. The contact was required to exert greater force to turn the steering wheel. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road and resumed normal operation. The vehicle was inspected and repaired by a certified mechanic, who stated that the failure was related to the tie rod ends. The tie rod ends were replaced on two separate occasions and recently failed. In addition, the contact heard a loud noise coming from the transmission when accelerating. The vehicle has not been repaired. The failure mileage was 28,000 and current mileage was 65,700.

I purchased a 1999 Chrysler Sebring in July 2005. My transmission blew up almost causing the car to catch fire. I was on the freeway returning home from a trip and heard this loud noise that shook the entire car. I thought that a truck tire had blown out until I looked in the rear view mirror and saw a big ploom of smoke that appeared to be coming from my car. I immediately looked at the dash to see if there were any warning lights and there weren't. But the car began to slow down very fast. While getting over to the exit lane I was calmly telling my daughter to unfastened her safety belt, and to slide over to the passenger side door and to prepare to get out fast. I was so frightened that I couldn't even dial on my cell phone. We coasted off of the freeway to a gas station. I threw that car in gear and we both jumped out. Thank god. The attendant noticed us before we turned up into the station and got a flashlight and some other tools and told us to stand back. Before I knew it about seven guys were around this vehicle saying how common this problem was. So I asked the natural question. Do you think there was a recall? I called daimler Chrysler the next morning and was told that they would take my complaint but this was the first time they had heard of this type of problem. Especially on that vehicle. I told them what was told me by these men one of which was a master mechanic for Ford and another a mechanic for Dodge, and tow truck guy. Here I am. I am angry because I feel that this company was not looking out for the best interest of myself or my family. I know that very quickly this incident could very well have turned into a catastrophe. When I wonder if they or their families buy their vehicles I have to say no no no. How dare they talk about being the best vehicle made in America. Are you talking class action ? I want in. We could have been killed or critically injured after my transmission blew up!.
