94 problems related to electrical system have been reported for the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

36 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/09/2013

We recently purchased van with 66000 miles on it, do not feel safe driving now because of its problem. Stalls at traffic lights, all lights do a pulse/ surge, and effect driving vehicle. We have done some research on this problem and see that we are not the only one dealing with this problem.

37 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2013

My air bag and abs lights stays on and my door locks and rear tail lights stop working I have to get fuses and lights regularly.

38 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/22/2013

My air bag light keeps coming on, I do not know if they are functioning correctly. I found a recall #07v192000 that appeared to address my problem but Chrysler says that my VIN # is not covered. I also found recall #10v008000 which also addresses this problem but my vehicle was not manufactured during the dates of this one. Obviously Chrysler knows this is an issue on vehicles manufactured during the same time as mine but they have excluded certain vehicles manufactured during this time frame that have this same issue, like mine.

39 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2013

Spark plug blew out of engine ripping out the treads shop recomends replancing the head. Because engine caused spark plug to come loose. This is a poor design to have parts work thier way out and could be a danger if it hit someone.

40 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2013

Started with erratic jumping of instrument needles synchronous with electrical popping in sound system and flickering of all lights. Has gotten progressively worse to now, killing the engine suddenly while under power conditions, leaving vehicle without power steering and necessitating shifting to neutral while at full road speed, and restarting the engine to regain operative control, all while in operation on the road in traffic. This has happened on four occasions during the past three weeks to this date. Vehicle also has electrical "hiccups" resulting in disengagement of transmission under operating conditions, which has so far (six incidences) re-engaged within ten seconds pursuant. This morning, July 11, 2013, while awaiting a traffic light, the engine killed and the entire system locked up for several minutes, including inability to move shifter, no respponse to key in ignition; complete shutdown. Approximately four to five minutes later, it suddenly unlocked, was able to be put in neutral and restarted, and driven away with no indication of any difficulty, as if nothing had happened. All of the above events have been similaly intermittent and unpredictable. It is apparent to me that something is defective in this vehicle, and I have encountered several other owners of Chrysler trucks and minivans who have experienced some or all of the a bove. Chrysler should be accountable for the parts it installs in it's products and needs to address and correct these very real and expensive safety hazards at the first possible moment.

42 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/22/2012

Driving at 65 mph on interstate, the warning "ding" went off as if a door was open, then the gauges started to sweep erratically, at the same time several dashboard lights flashed on and off. The odometer and prdnl lights flicker, as well as the head lights. It continued to happen going down the road at any given moment. I have noticed that it is more frequent when raining and when I accelerate, pulling on the engine. The headlights, odometer, and prndl flicker at an idle. If it begins the happen, I can stop the van, shut it off, then restart it and this usually solves the problem. I have checked the battery connections, replaced the battery, none of these has resolved this problem. As I have researched this on the internet, I see this as a common problem for 2005 Dodge/Chrysler vans. Some report stalling, which can be a very serious problem. Mine has not done that yet.

44 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2012

When driving an a consistent cruising speed for a period of time I will start to brake or slow down and the dashboard including all gages, lights and radio will loose power and flicker on and off. Sometimes they will stay off and other times after flickering for 30 seconds to 2 minutes then they will start to operate properly until the next time I have to slow down or brake. Several time it caused the engine to loose power for a couple of seconds and then start back up.

45 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/13/2012

Loss of headlights while traveling 70mph. High beams worked only if lever was held down, and I had to drive like this for an hour. Over the past 2-3 years the headlights would intermittently flicker or turn off, but I could usually resolve the problem by toggling the headlights off and on several times. This would occur periodically, with several months in between incidents. In may and June of this year, the problem began to occur more frequently, with complete loss of headlights finally occurring. My mechanic replaced the front headlight control module 6-15-12 and the headlights operated fine until this past week- 7-11-12, when the headlights began to flicker again and went out while driving only 5mph in parking garage. Toggling the on/off switch corrected the problem and headlights came on.

46 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2012

47 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/14/2012

Headlights will not turn on. Repeated turning off & on of headlight switch (5 to 10 itmes) eventually works. However, using the turn signal lever on the column to hold the brights on does result in brights only - if you hold the lever continuously. Nhtsa ea11010 from September of 2011 says defect is being investigated. How much time is needed for a diagnosis?.

55 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/24/2011

Hello, I have a 2005 Chrysler town and country touring minivan. Over the past six months I have had problems with the locks and doors not working. I went online and saw that a great many people have this same problem. You need to replace the fuse for ten seconds and then everything is back to normal. This happens on a weekly basis and sometimes several times a week. This is dangerous because the car sounds like it locks but it does not. Today I was coming home from the beach doing 55 and the car completely stopped working and I had to go over two lanes and was lucky that I was not plowed into by the truck behind me. I then pulled over and put the car in park and started the key and it started right up. I made it home fine. I looked online and I see that it is a big problem with a great many people as well. Why has Chrysler not addressed these issues. My wife and I share a car and I am concerned that this will happen again. Thanks.

56 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/20/2011

I had two Chrysler products, (one minivan and one ram pickup), with the same concern within a matter of weeks. When turning on the left turn signal, the outside right turn signal flashes. I own a service repair shop and checked my "identifix" data base and see this is a common issue with Chrysler products. The multifunction switch is bad causing this concern.

57 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2011

Headlights will sometimes will not turn on until tried several times. This week, while driving about 38 mph, the headlights flashed on/off rapidly 3 times then remained off until I cycled the switch several times. No more occurrences that evening or for 4 more days, then tonight after driving about 5 miles home, I decided to try the switch and found that only about 1 out of 5 tries were successful in getting the headlights to turn on. The serious concern is when the headlights flash and then turn off while I am driving and will not immediately turn on.

2005 Chrysler Town & Country. First began with the left side door not closing completely. Then the van just cut off while driving! then the cable burned up and there was no positive cable available to replace. Took to dealership. The whole harness has to be replaced for $ 2100! I can't just get a positive cable replacement! no wrecks to this vehicle. Very well taken care of family van. This is dangerous and too expensive! I really want you to reconsider a recall on this part!.

61 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/17/2010

We are seeing the blinkers stop working, or the wrong blinker activated. Pushing the blinker switch down (left) turns on the right blinker. Sometimes blinkers do not work at all. Van is now at dealer for multifunction switch replacement. Failure occurs intermittently--recently about twice a week. Will usually act up for the whole day then correct itself for a few days.

62 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/28/2010

It first started by failing to turn on after a few times of trying to turn on the lights on the dash. It then progressed by turning off while driving in the city. It worked for a few months without incident until 2 months ago. After a cold start the lights would come on but after driving it to the store about 3-4 miles away and restarting the car it has failed repeatedly. I believe this to be a serious safety issue. I've had to drive home by manually holding the high beams on to get home. There was almost an accident due to this problem.
