1 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem

Failure Date: 04/19/2019

Filed complaint about defective airbag sensors last year and heard nothing back. . They are still defective. . There is a recall on this issue but my VIN is after the ones that were recalled. . They also have this issue in 2006 town and countries. . They used the same junk parts in all the vans, why weren't all of them recalled for this. . There is a number you have issued for this, ea06003. Has anything been determined to allow all vehicles with this problem to be covered under the recall order. . Thanks. . .

2 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem

Failure Date: 02/20/2016

Airbag showed as failed upon starting my minivan. Took the van to my dealer and was told the sensors were bad and I ordered new sensors. Cantacted Chrysler as per NHTSA campaign id number: 10v008000, NHTSA action number: rq09003. And was told my car wasn't on recall, if it was added they would let me know. I am trying to get may car added to the recall list. Internet chat as follows: randolph: hi, my name is randolph. How may I help you? randolph: hello richard. Richard wohlers: I had to have airbag sensors replace on 05 t&c and wish reimbursement richard wohlers: NHTSA campaign id number: 10v008000 NHTSA action number: rq09003 component: air bags:frontal:sensor/control module richard wohlers: 5-18-2016 @ krieger¿s: diagnosed problem and purchased sensors. Randolph: that is very frustrating to hear that you had this air bag recall on your vehicle and I will definitely look into the reimbursement process for you. Randolph: is this the last 8 characters 5r196579 of the VIN? richard wohlers: previous owner had the car in California and it enter rust zone in 09 or so randolph: I do apologize but I do not have a way of adding the recall to your vehicle. This is documented and if there is enough complaints about this on your type of vehicle it is possible that another recall may come out for this. If one does you will be notified by mail at which time you can submit the receipts in for possible reimbursement.

3 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2015

The problem is that the light on the dash keeps coming on and then going off. I have had this replaced 4 times and each time not at a very cheap price. 6 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem

Failure Date: 09/13/2010

For at least six months, we have had an issue with the airbag sensor coming on in our vehicle. This concerns us that our air bag may not operate correctly in the event of a collision. We checked the recall list and found that there is a recall for our type of vehicle, but for those manufactured a few months after ours. I feel the same problem probably exists in our car and should be included in the recall. I also fear that it is a safety issue. The recall says it is Chrysler's campaign number j38.

The dealer was notified and stated that there were two different recalls associated with the NHTSA campaign id numbers 07v192000 and 10v008000 (air bags: frontal: sensor/control module). The VIN was excluded from both recall defects. The failure was not diagnosed nor was the vehicle repaired. The failure mileage was 70,000.

8 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem

Failure Date: 05/27/2010

Did a little survey on your site (odi) and found the following ref. The # of complaints per year model for air bag related failures (category air bags-airbags frontal - air bag sensor) year 2001. 52 complaints year 2002. - 51 complaints vehicles recalled and repaired by Chrysler . Year 2003 - 14 complaints year 2004 - 2 complaints sounds like the problem is fixed ????? year 2005 - 91 yes 91 complaints for the airbag "system" namely the clockspring. I think that a life and safety device that the consumer has paid for should work and it's time for Chrysler to come forward and repair it.

9 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2010

Five different times we have had the sensor for the airbags need to be replaced. We were part of a recall on the outer one, but this is the one that is affected by the driver's seat being moved. We have had this same sensor "fixed" four times. Each time we pay and then it breaks again. It begins sending a signal that it is out when moving the driver's seat but will go back off if you move the seat again. This goes on for a few weeks and then the sensor goes bad permanently. We are now driving yet again without airbags. We have called Chrysler and have been told that we can pay yet again to have it fixed and perhaps they can send someone who knows how to fix it permanently. Or, we can get a deal on a new car. We have already paid to have it fixed more than once and we believe that Chrysler is aware of this problem and are not willing to fix it. Thus we are stuck with an unsafe car to drive our children in.

10 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem

Failure Date: 01/25/2010

Air-bag fault light came on while driving down the road. Dealer says that both front impact sensors need to be replaced due to corrosion, to the tune of $300! it doesn't seem reasonable that after 5 years and 62,000 a required safety device this important should have to be replaced at my expense due to corrosion.

11 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2009

Even though Chrysler has issued a recall for defective front air bag crash sensors my VIN is not listed so they will not issue me a recall notice even though I have had this problem for 3 months.

Airbag sensor light remains on, thereby rendering the airbags inoperative. Dealer claims vehicle is not covered by recall. Vehicle is currently registered in new york, a state that uses salt to mitigate snow and ice and therefore falls within the criteria for recall. Does my vehicle qualify for recall? (originally may have been registered in FL. Now registered in NY).

19 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem

Failure Date: 03/18/2008

The airbag warning lamp came on intermittently at first over the course of a week or so then it stayed on solid. I took it to the dealer for service while under warranty and they replaced the right front airbag sensor without cost under warranty which fixed the problem. The reason I'm filing this complaint is because the sensor recall (id # 07v192000) only covers vehicles with build dates between Apr 24, 2003 and Feb 2, 2005. My vehicle, which has a "date of mfr" of 07/05, is not covered by this recall. My concern is that if the problem with my vehicle is not just a random occurrence Chrysler may have underestimated the number of vehicles potentially impacted by the recall.

Air bag light became illuminated on my 2005 Chrysler town n' country. I found a safety recall on the exact issue, but was told my vehicle did not fit into the range of the recall. 23 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2007

It started actually quite some time ago. It seemed that every once in a while I would lose my power steering. Once it almost caused me to run off the road and into a cement curb. Luckily, I was able to work the wheel around and after about five minutes of trying to control the van, the power steering came back. There has been a noise at the front of the vehicle for quite some time and then I noticed the van was leaking something. I took it to the dealer and they said there was a leak in the steering gear assembly and that it needed to be replaced. They also said that they are replacing so many of them that the part was backordered and they were unsure when they would get one. That was in Nov. 2007. It is now April 2008 and I am still waiting. In Feb of 2008 I was told they had one for me and I took my van in and then was told that it never arrived and that they told their parts dealer that they needed it immediately because the power steering fluid is leaking onto other parts and can cause problems. It's still been two months since then and nothing. The whole front of my van feels and sounds like its going to fall off at any moment. I have had to refill my power steering fluid every 2-3 days since Nov 07 and it isn't getting any better. Unfortunately, this is not the only problem I have had with this van. The right cv joint had to be replaced after only 2 years, the air bag sensors went bad and only after I paid to have it checked out to the tune of $70 were they recalled, there was a recall on the rear heating/cooling tubes because of cold weather conditions, the driver side sliding door no longer works as well as the front passenger window. During a terrible rain storm, I had to go through a large puddle and the spare tire was ripped from the undercarriage because it was never sealed properly and the part was defective. Both sets of brakes have had to be replaced, rotors redone and the tires have been replaced twice.

25 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2007

Front air bags on 2005 Chrysler Town & Country do not work due to a corroded sensor in the front of the car. Chrysler is refusing to fix this under warranty although the vehicle is less than two years old, and they are replacing corroded switches on other years and models.

26 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2007

Air bag warning light came on dashboard. Dealer said it was caused by driver's side 'seat belt retractor needing to be replaced. They ordered this, said I would have to pay. Not covered by dealer. Then, on may 12, 2007 I saw on the tv may 11 2007 report that there was a NHTSA recall 07v192000 concerning sensor/ control module manufacturer's report on may 1, 2007. Dealer still knew nothing about this recall to this date.

27 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2007

I have a 2005 Chrysler Town & Country which I purchased new. In the following months the airbag light has come February 05, may 06, November 06, December 06, Jan 07, February 07, March 07, the light has stayed on for 3 minutes - 40 minutes. I have repeatedly brought the vehicle back to the dealer. Sometimes it throughs a code ,but most often it did not. At times they have been able to duplicate the problem ,and sometimes they could not. Recently they have not been able to duplicate the problem and no codes were shoown. The dealer was looking to chrylser for tech support, and I have been waiting 6 weeks. I have contacted Chrysler may times, they told me to deal with the dealer - there is nothing that can be done unless a code is thrown or the problem is duplicated. They have also told me that when the light goes on the airbag will not work.

28 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem

Failure Date: 01/11/2007

Follow up on an existing open item NHTSA action number : ea06003 front air bag crash sensor failure: air bags:frontal Chrysler / town and country 2005 my air bag lights were blinking the one on the dash board and the one on the middle of the console. 29 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2007

We have a 2005 town and country minivan that we purchased from brunswick auto mart. We have had to have it serviced to repair the air bag sensors three times in less than 45,000 miles. There has been no reason why the sensors says failure. The bags have not been deployed in an accident or even inadvertently but a vehicle that has a safety system mandated by the government should have to meet better qualifications.

30 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem

Failure Date: 12/10/2006

: the contact stated the airbag warning light illuminated constantly. The vehicle was taken to a service dealer, who stated that the contact should give the vehicle a couple of days to see if the light reset, but it did not. 32 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem

Failure Date: 07/19/2006

- the contact owns a 2005 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that the sensor control module for the front air bags was not working and the sensor light turned on warning of a airbag malfunction. Also, the contact stated that the front driver's side seat belt was not tightening as it should. The contact replaced the front crash sensors, and the seat belt retractor. The contact believed that water entered the sensor assembly. The contact had the vehicle repaired, but believed that the work she had done should fall under a safety recall. The current and failure mileage were 59015 miles. Updated 03/30/07.

33 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem

Failure Date: 04/11/2006

: the contact stated the airbag light illuminated. The dealership determined the control module needs to be replaced.

34 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem

Failure Date: 04/05/2006

Chrysler Town & Country 2005 minivan touring car. Airbag light came on and remains on. Called dealer where we bought the car and have appointment next wed. 4/12/06 to get problem corrected. Dealer said airbag may or may not deploy. We are reluctant to drive it until problem is corrected. At this time we have to pay for this service. Want it on record that we have this problem.

35 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem

Failure Date: 03/23/2006

Air bag light came on. Being a school vehicle it places the van out of service. I contacted the dealer to diagnose the problem and found out this is a common problem and since the van has 51000 miles on it the warranty has expired. I feel this being a safety issue Chrysler should cover the repair. I do know of one other school van that has had the same issue with the air bag light. I also feel that most consumers would ignore the light and take their chances before spending 214. 00 on the repair.
