1 Coolant Leaking problem

Failure Date: 11/22/2019

While traveling at speeds less than 40 mph, and typically within 5 minutes of starting, the vehicle will shut down all power (engine, electrical, and brakes) while driving, making it very hard to stop the vehicle, and very dangerous . I have taken it to the dealer and they stated it was overheating and result of the coolant system leaking, which we had them fix, and problem continues to occur. There was no way it was overheating that quickly after starting. Dealer has refused to look at other postings online that suggest this is a prevalent problem, and unrelated to the coolant system.

2 Coolant Leaking problem

Failure Date: 09/11/2019

The contact owns a 2008 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that the vehicle leaked water and coolant, causing the contact to continually top off the fluids. Additionally, the air bags warning light was illuminated. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 10v611000 (equipment) however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was taken to garber Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram located at 5330 bay rd, saginaw, mi 48604, but was not diagnosed nor repaired. The contact stated that she was concerned for the safety of her child who was regularly transported using the vehicle. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 174,923.

3 Coolant Leaking problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2015

Coolant must have a slow leak somewhere. Yet there is not a drip circle under my car the airbag light comes on. The air conditioner wouldn't work and now the heater doesn't work. Does the airbag have anything to do with the leaking? it happens intermittently.

4 Coolant Leaking problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2013

The "y" fitting on heater hose is cracked and leaking coolant, big plumes of coolant steam escapes from the drivers side wheel well until leaking fluid has evaporated. Until the evap happens I cannot use the defroster as it takes the climate control off recycle and the coolant fumes then enter the cab. Chrysler was made aware of the issue, as well as another on December 5, and refused to fix or help with repair costs, vehicle still not repaired, still leaking coolant. 2 small children, 5 yrs and 14 months, ride in this vehicle on a daily basis and can be exposed to the fumes. Also cannot use remote start due to the fumes leaking into cab until the vehicle key is in place and climate control recycle kicks in, so in cold weather like this week I can not warm my van up without physically going out and starting it up. If I am contacted I will provide VIN.

5 Coolant Leaking problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2011

The first problem we noticed with the van was the brakes. They wear out way to quickly. In the 5 years we have had the van we have replaced the brakes 6 times and rotors 2 times. The next problem was what seems to be a well documented leak of the coolant on to the engine causing smelly smoke. We were forced to by the part from the dealer as it was not available anywhere else and paid over 100. 00 for it. Thankfully my husband was able to replace it. Now at 80000 miles the key and ignition has been having issues. It started with not being able to remove the key fob. The engine will cut off but it will only go into accessory. If left overnight or for sometime it will kill the battery. It started occasionally and has progressed to almost every time you cut the engine off you cannot remove the key fob. It will release but it is after sometime sitting in park. It is very frustrating having to leave your key in the ignition and be forced to leave it sitting in a random parking lot and just hope that when you return the battery is not dead. I have researched this issue and it is very common among this van and other Chrysler vehicles. At this point I am so fed up with it if someone decided to steal it because they saw the key in it I would just wish them good luck. I will never own another Chrysler ! seems like there has to be a fire injury or fatality for them to do anything to satisfy all the unhappy customers they have.
