1 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem

Failure Date: 12/05/2020

When trying to put car in manual mode the shifter doesn't change gears. This causes an issue when trying to shift to lower gears in bad weather. I have read many forums on this issue and it seems as tho it is completely a design flaw. There is a plastic piece that rubs on the wires and shorts them out eventually causing you not to switch gears manually, which can cause an accident in bad weather.

The contact owns a 2010 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. While attempting to exceed 20 mph, the vehicle failed to shift gears and the rpms accelerated exponentially; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate along with the rpms. The approximate failure mileage was 92,000. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
