36 Cruise Control problem of the 2010 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 03/20/2010

The contact owns a 2010 Chrysler town and country. While driving 55 mph with the cruise control engaged the vehicle suddenly down shifted twice without warning causing the rpms to rise to 5000. The contact applied the brakes in order to disengage the cruise control and stop the vehicle. The contact previously traded in his 2008 Town & Country due to a defective cruise control electronic sensor. He has requested that the dealer buy back the 2010 vehicle since it could not be repaired. The failure and the current mileages were 2,600.

37 Cruise Control problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 09/19/2008

While driving down the interstate I set the cruise control which broke from the steering column. It was hanging by the wires inside the steering column. After exiting the interstate I made a left turn. The cruise control stalk got entangled with the turn signal causing the steering wheel to become inoperable. My quick fix was to tape the cruise control stalk to the steering column until a new part could be ordered from the dealer. It was replaced in a timely manner by Chrysler.

41 Cruise Control problem of the 2004 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 10/28/2004

1. Cruise control will not release when applying brakes while accelerating. 2. No damage as of yet but almost slammed into guard rails that was located at a drop off of about 1700 ft. 3. Vehicle was looked at by Chrysler and was not repaired. Fault was duplicated with the tech in the car. Chrysler engineering dept told the tech that they know there is a fault with the system but the possibility of the fault happening is so low that they were not to concerned about it. Their suggestion is not to use the cruise control when there is a possibility of vehicle acceleration. (same wire controls downshift and brake control for cruise).

45 Cruise Control problem of the 1999 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 12/01/2001

Cruise control does not work. When it is on and set it does not hold speed. If left on it will unexpectedly accelerate and then will not turn off with the brake. The only way to turn it off it at the steering switch. It was not working one night and the van acellertaed as I was changing lanes on ice. My reaction was to brake and van acelerated immediatley after I took my foot off the brake. Good thing I remembered quickly to use swithch at sterring wheel for there were other auto around. The chysler service center that I have taken my van to three times has not been able to diagnose this problem yet and therefore it is not fixed. I will continue to try and get the cruise control fixed . I never use my cruise control because it is so dangerous. I hope no others are injured discovering this porblem.

46 Cruise Control problem of the 1996 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 11/06/2001

The car was in cruise control on I-95 at 70 mph. The speed suddenly jumped to 80 mph and would have gone higher if I hadn't applied the brakes. The rpm reached 4000, and the only way I was able to gain control was to cut off the ignition. This is a safety hazard and could have resulted in a very bad accident. I took the car to caruso Chrysler at 1750 southside boulevard, jacksonville, FL.
