I noticed at night my headlights would not stay on. They would come on and sometimes flash. Other times they would not even come on at all. Dealer said it is the tipm and that other things could start shutting down since this is all electrical. Now I am afraid to drive anywhere. I drive children the majority time I am driving and fear that something will shut down at anytime. I have seen that this tipm seems to be a common problem and a very costly fix. Don't understand why something has not been done to recall something like this.

While driving on a interstate 95 at approx 8:30 pm the headlights blinked then went out. I could not see I had to get off the road. I was over 2 hours from home. I had to drive with my hazards on until I could get a friend to meet me and I could follow them home with my hazards. I googled the issue many people have the same thing. My 2005 town and country had the same issue which is why I ended up trading it in. I was told by the dealer they never heard of what has happened it would cost $90 to diagnose. I asked if I paid for what they think would fix it and it doesn't repair do I get the money back the answer was no. From what I have read many people have had this issue and some paid to get work done and it didn't resolve the issue. Driving a Mini van with children without headlights is a major safety issue even during the day if it is raining. I drive with my headlights on all the time to make myself more visible to other drivers. My headlights failing could have caused a serious accident and death!.
Headlights & wipers started coming on at the same time and I had no control over them. The wipers would say on for about 3-5 minutes and headlights would stay on for about 15-20 minutes. Next the radio would freeze up. Then the push button start would not always work the first time, had to repeat it a few times to start. Next alarms would go off in the car, with no symbols on the dash. Then the power 3rd row seat would move forward and revers with my grandson sitting in the seat. Car was unsafe to drive, too many electrical problems going on!.

I have a 2010 Chrysler town and country minivan. I have no headlights in vehicle. When I drive at night I have to use my hazards for other vehicles to see me. I took it to my local mechanic and it was diagnosed as a bad fuse box or module as they call it (mechanic googled the problem for 2010 Chrysler town and country no headlights - read the responses!!). The part to fix my vehicle lists from Chrysler for $819. 05 but it is not available because it is backordered on the Chrysler parts system, it looks like other people are having this same problem. So now I have to drive my wife and 3 kids in a vehicle with no headlights because the vehicle I drive is a Ford e-250 cargo van with only 2 seats. What am I supposed to do?? I spent $40,000+ on a vehicle and this is another problem I have had with vehicle (radio, warped disc on brakes and of course the key issues everyone talks about). I talked to Chrysler and they said maybe they could expedite the part but I said why do I have to pay to fix their problems. Customer rep "was sorry I felt this way" and that there has been no reported issues regarding this (I find this hard to believe with backlog of parts). What should I do? not drive my vehicle at night anymore? who going to pay to fix this? no injury or fatality yet but what are my chances since I have to drive at night with no headlights and no way to fix them??.
Upon starting the car, particularly on damp and/or cold mornings, the electrical system goes haywire. There is no power to the dash, the headlights blink on and off, the locks stop working, the wipers go on by themselves and remain on for the duration of the event. This happens whether the car is parked or in motion. It is not known whether this is impacting the air bags; the fuel gauge reads zero, so it's not known if this will impact the car's ability to continue running; it is also a major distraction if trying to drive. The duration varies, from one minute to 20 minutes. . Read more...
We noticed on 12/28/2014, and currently still have, beads of water built up on the inside of one of the two plastic headlight lenses. This could be detrimental to being seen at night. Could the water also cause an electrical short which would disable the headlights?.

I have multiple issues with my 2006 Chrysler town and country. The first is that it cuts off unexpectedly. This has happened multiple times most luckily while stopped at an intersection or stop light but it has cut off on the interstate recently. It also has a light issue, the lights will cut on and off by themselves, I have woke up during the night to find the headlights shinning in the house when they do this there is no way to cut them off, they will eventually cut off by themselves. Another problem I have is the power steering whines when I drive it especially down the highway. I have checked the fluid and it is full.

Headlights go on and off unexpectedly while driving. Especially when there is moisture in the environment. Very unsafe to be hauling my family in.
It was about 5:30 in the morning and was driving to work. Both headlights quit working. I had to pull over because I couldn't see anything. I had to wait till daylight before I could drive again. Didn't want to cause an accident. Both headlights finally came back on around 730am. I'm not comfortable driving the vehicle while it is dark, don't want the headlights to go out again.
As I was driving (at night) my headlights went completely off for approximately 3seconds--I slowed down because I couldn't see a thing. It was pretty scary, but I handled it.

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that the headlights failed to activate and the high beams had to be used instead. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the VIN was not included in the manufacturers recall. The failure mileage was 85,000.
We are experiencing the same problems as identified in the below investigation. Date investigation opened: Sep 25, 2014 date investigation closed: open NHTSA action number: dp14004 component(s): electrical system the car's headlights will either not turn on or will turn off while driving. We have brought it to the dealership numerous times and they weren't able to reproduce the problem(although they saw many tipm error codes. It finally occurred again last week and my wife rushed to the dealership and needed to let the car run for two hours since the technician was busy and we didn't want to risk them not seeing it occur. They have determined it to be a failing tipm module and the part is currently on backorder with no estimated delivery date. We can no longer use the car due to safety concerns and are feverously waiting on the replacement part. Driving on a highway at night and losing your lights, not a good thing.
Turned the lights on as it was getting dark while driving and even on high beams it was if headlights were barely on. Also the left front blinker failed although the back blinker did work but flashed extremely fast. Replaced both headlights and still have to use headlights on bright to see as if the lights are on dim. The left front blinker and side light failed within a month of relacement. When replaced again, there was no change. The blinker/side light failed to operate.

Van has intermittent warning cluster, wiper, gauges, and headlight shut off and on problems. Van is dangerous to my fam. And others!!!!!!! found recall l-25 but this is fraud recal; only installing rubber ring on win module. Automatic headlights turn off when driving. It has happened twice now. If driver doesn't react quickly and turn lights from automatic on to manual on there could be an accident.

I was driving down the highway at 65 mph and my lights went out. I had both hands on the steering wheel so I didn't touch any button. I did have the automatic high beam feature turned on. Was extremely scary as I could not see anything when the lights went out as it was pitch dark outside. I braked hard and after several seconds the lights came back on. I was so lucky I did not go off the road as I could not see anything without the headlights. My family and I could have been killed. Very dangerous. Please issue a recall. I see on google that others have experienced the same issue.

Headlights. Dont work when they need 2. Have big problems a they go on and off when I wants 2. When car is turned on dont work parked moving. I need help.
I was driving on john r rd. In troy, mi at approximately 5:45 p. M. On 12/19/13 when my headlights that were set on auto suddenly went out and stayed off. It was totally dark at that time. The lights did work manually. I have had multiple incidents since than including one at 70 mph on the expressway. Prior to this I have had a lot of irregular problems with the automatic lights turning on. I have taken the car to the dealer but they have been unable to determine the problem.
We purchased this 2011 Chrysler town and country as a new vehicle in Jan. Of 2012. Since the purchase there have been 5 incidents where the van has lost all electrical power making clicking noises, and leaving us stranded. The final incident happened on Dec. 26,2014 while traveling in the mountains of north carolina. It was 10:30 pm, no street lights and nothing but steep terrain on the sides. The vehicle completely shut down and was making the clicking noises. The power steering was lost, headlights off and all other electrical functions were unavailable. Once in complete darkness we noticed we had shifted into the oncoming lane of traffic. We noticed headlights coming at us in the distance, luckily quick thinking and use of a flashlight we were able to warn the oncoming vehicle of our position in their lane. They stopped in front of our vehicle and turned on their hazards to provide warning for other vehicles. Being that we were in imminent danger, I had to disconnect the battery and let the system reset. After taking it to the dealership they once again said they could not find a problem. The dealership only stated, " have it towed in when it happens". Being that the last 2 times this happened we were left stranded in traffic, during late hours with absolutely no electrical power and my children in the car, it was impossible to wait to be towed in. They were unsafe situations that potentially had fatal results. I had to make the best decision at the time to protect my family. I am beyond frustrated with Chrysler for allowing me to leave the shop every time with no solution to the problem. My kids are afraid to get in van for fear of breaking down yet again. Five incidents with no resolution, no one knows how to fix the problem! a recurrent problem that can happen at any point- while on a highway or getting through a busy intersection.
The headlights dim, the radio stops, the four lights directly over the speedometer come on and off, the speedometer drops to zero when the dummy lights come on. Periodically the vehicle shuts of as it is moving. This all started happening after the NHTSA campaign #11v139000 recall on the ignition was replaced. It has been to three separate Chrysler dealers a total of seven times. It has been out of service for more than 30 days. Neither Chrysler nor the dealer wants to resolve this problem. They want to sell me a new car!.
The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph at night, the headlights suddenly failed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact called the manufacturer and filed a complaint regarding the failure. The failure mileage was 130,000.
We were exiting a parking lot and pulling out onto a main road when the horn started honking, the windshield wipers started full speed (both front and back with constant wiper fluid), the interior lights flashed, all the interior warning lights were on, and the headlights shut off. We pulled into the next parking lot & turned the van off, but the horn kept going off for at least 5 minutes along with the wiper, lights, etc. We started it up again with the same results. We were so thankful we were not on the highway yet as we could easily have been killed! we left the van in a nearby parking lot for the night and tried to take it to a dealership the next morning, but they didn't have any open appts till later this week. I'm not sure I could ever feel safe driving this vehicle again as I've read a lot of the same complaints about this make/model/year and it seems like it keeps happening without warning. This is very dangerous & I don't feel safe driving my children around in it!.

Headlights shut off by themselves while driving. This happens very often while driving at any time of the day. This is a huge safety concern.

Soon after purchasing the minivan, the headlights began to cut out intermittently. At first, it was only during the summer when the weather was very warm and humid. In addition, we found that if we started the minivan and lights worked they would stay on throughout our drive but that soon changed. . . The lights cut out on us one night after driving for about a half an hour. This was extremely dangerous because we were on the highway and it was very dark. We tried to bring this issue up to our dealership and they claimed that our car did not have this problem. Now, our minivan lights do not work at all. . . They flicker or flash three times like they are trying to come on but never actually turn on. This has happened many times!.
The following has been happening for over a week now. When starting my vehicle, the wipers independently turned on, the headlights flashed every time the wipers where deployed independently. The wiper and light on/off was checked. Turned off and on, and still both items flashed, and swiped by themselves. January 29th, operator was driving 25 mph, all dash lights blinked, including but not limited to, esp, brake, engine, and airbag lights, airbag light remained on, wipers deployed and rpm gauge reduced to 0 for 5 seconds. Pulled over turned ignition off, opened door, shut door restarted vehicle. The above repeated itself, with more errors, now the driver window controls did no longer work. This happened repeatedly for 5 full minutes before resuming normal operation.
Driving at 65 mph on interstate, the warning "ding" went off as if a door was open, then the gauges started to sweep erratically, at the same time several dashboard lights flashed on and off. The odometer and prdnl lights flicker, as well as the head lights. It continued to happen going down the road at any given moment. I have noticed that it is more frequent when raining and when I accelerate, pulling on the engine. The headlights, odometer, and prndl flicker at an idle. If it begins the happen, I can stop the van, shut it off, then restart it and this usually solves the problem. I have checked the battery connections, replaced the battery, none of these has resolved this problem. As I have researched this on the internet, I see this as a common problem for 2005 Dodge/Chrysler vans. Some report stalling, which can be a very serious problem. Mine has not done that yet.
While driving 55 mph down a rural road at night the headlights went out. Nearly went off the roadway attempting to stop. After a few minutes one headlight came back on then went out again. After shutting off the engine and re-starting the vehicle the headlights came back on. This vehicle is not safe to drive at night.
Tl-the contact owns a 2005 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that when driving at various speeds he noticed that the headlights and the interior lights would flicker on and off. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where they advised him that the failure was of the voltage regulator. The dealer repaired the vehicle by reprogramming the computer system. The contact stated that immediately after leaving the dealer, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was unknown. The current mileage was approximately 99,000. Kmj.
Headlights did not come on at night after starting engine. This has happened multiple times over the past several months. It is intermittent and the lights will be normal for a week or two or three and then the problem occurs again. Several hours or the next morning after a problem all is normal. Sometimes after starting the headlights flash on and off. We are afraid to be away from home at night in this van. After reading the numerous similar complaints and considering the safety implications with this problem I am amazed that there has been no recall.
Dash lights flickering, gauges jumping. Headlights turned off during driving at night. Transmission shortly disengaged. Dangerous situation! Chrysler can not find the problem. Nhtsa case ea11010 is open. Need urgent support.
Headlights turned off while driving at night.
Driving and suddenly the headlights start flickering on and off and bright and dim. It was happening individually, so one light may be on and the other one off. Finally they both stopped and it was only the parking lights and fog lights working. Nothing would make them work. Drove later that same night and it was fine until I turned my lights on bright. Wife almost had a wreck when the lights went completely out and would not come back on. Chrysler needs to identify this problem and recall or extend free repairs for this ASAP before a fatal accident.
The contact owns a 2001 Chrysler town and country. While parked, the contact activated the low beam headlights and noticed that the driver's side headlight had not illuminated. When the contact activated the high beam headlights the passenger side headlight did not illuminate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The contact replaced the headlight bulbs but the failure continued. Also, while driving approximately 10 mph in rainy weather, the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver and the battery warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle regained power steering independently. The failure continued intermittently. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for further diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 135,000.
