Vehicle overheats to the point where I have to pull over, open the hood, open the radiator cap, let it drain and add more water/antifreeze. I have t do this every day once or twice a day. I drive 7 miles to work. The thermostat has been replaced and the car only has 90k miles. Also, cannot put gas on the tank. It does not take more than 1/5th of a gallon and it stops. . . Have to restart the gas adding situation every couple of minutes. It takes about 20 to 30 minutes to fill up the tank.

I bought this van about 2 weeks back. The dealer had filled up the gas tank. Yesterday I wanted to refuel and then I realized that this was the most unsafe car I have seen. Anybody could have access to the gas cap. There is no key lock or lever lock to it. Just flip open the cover and unscrew the cap and put anything into the gas tank or draw out the gas if you want to. This car costs about 30,000 and has all sorts of features but I am scared to take it out of my garage and park it anywhere else. I hope the manufacturer does something in regards to the accessibility of the gas cap to ease the mind of the owners of this vehicle. I would not have bought this car if I had noticed this at the time of purchase.

Right after vehicle passed the 100,000 mile mark around August of 2013 the van would start to chug and stall as soon as you filled up the gas tank. First time this happened was attempting to merge into traffic and was almost hit since lost steering and could not control the vehicle. Had wife and 3 kids in the van. Issue still happening on every fill up. Usually once you restart the vehicle it drives normal. Researched and found that this stalling issue is very common with the 2004 Town & Country. Apparently the issue stems from the filter on top of the gas tank which Chrysler is aware of, but no recall. Have tried to not fill completely up which sometimes helps, but stalling can still happen. Many similar complaints of this issue with potential accidents so a little surprised this has not been addressed by Chrysler. Guess it's a numbers game and a certain number of people have to get killed and lawsuits pile up before it becomes economical to get reviewed and addressed.

The engine light came on and the speedometer read the words "gas cap". We changed out the gas cap and turn the engine light off. About a week later it was back on again. I need to get the car inspected but when the mechanic "smoked" the system. He discovered that the module/rollover on top of the tank where 2 small lines goes in is broken and the assembly is not separate but a part of the entire gas tank. He stated there is no reason for the breakage. I have contacted Chrysler about this but have not received any response. There is no viable explanation for this except a faulty part. I am sure I cannot be the only one. There is a strong gas.

The contact owns a 2012 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that the check fuel cap warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer for inspection and was advised that a rodent had eaten through the fuel line and the fuel tank would need to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the check engine light was illuminated on the instrument panel after the repairs. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where they then stated that the fuel tank would need to be replaced a second time because rodents had once again eaten through the fuel lines. The vehicle was not further repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 2,800.

Problem: stalling and sputtering after refueling engine type: 3. 3 liter start of problem noticed: approximately 2011-2012 service completed: Chrysler/Dodge dealer and third party engine light associated with problem: egr valve service provided: 2 new egr valves, a evap canister, gas cap, ignition coil and new fuel pump within seconds after fueling my vehicle, the vehicle sputters and sometimes stalls. Initially there was no engine light associated with problem. Vehicle primarily stalls in intersections local streets) due to stalling occurring at start up creating significant safety hazard. After initial stalling (up to 4 times in one incident) and sputtering, vehicle returns to normal operation. Heavy acceleration helps with preventing stalling. The problem has progressed and now the engine light turns on and the vehicle sputters at various time (local streets and highways); even while traveling at highway speeds. I was never informed by "certified mechanics" of the issue or advised on how to fix the problem. I stumbled across information via google search regarding failure of the vapor/liquid separator in the gas tank dating back to at least 2012. I understand NHTSA has completed the investigation. Concerns: 1. Chrysler has failed to notify consumers of a known issue 2. Chrysler/Dodge dealers seem to be unaware of issue 3. Unknown if stalling may occur at highway speeds causing loss of control 4. Stalling has occurred in intersections 5. It is unclear if there are any deaths or serious bodily injuries associated with this issue because it is unclear if this cause has been investigated in traffic homicides across the united states. Further investigation should be completed. Chrysler/Dodge or any other affected vehicle should have to at a minimum notify consumer of danger involved.
The vehicle stalls whenever fuel tank is filled even if the pump full cutoff is used. If not full it hesitates after slowing down to turn and then speed is increased. It was first diagnosed as a fuel problem and an additive was needed. On March 8, 2012 it was getting worse and the Chrysler dealer said it was caused by topping off the gas tank. They changed the fuel filler cap, natural vacuum leak detector, and vapor cannister. The vehicles performance has not improved.

Niosh investigation pe 13-016 engine stall. Subject of the cited investigation, stalling while driving after fueling may be characteristic of 2006 Chrysler corp. Minivans (3. 8 l engine) as well, based on messages in a Chrysler minivan e-mail list. Comments indicate that this is a known problem which requires replacement of the fuel tank. My van did this four or five times in the year after my first instance. It was then sold (for unrelated reasons. ) once, I talked with the gas station attendant for a few minutes before leaving the station, and had trouble starting the engine. It came to be my belief that the problem could be avoided or minimized by starting the engine and driving away from the gas station as soon as possible after replacing the fuel cap, believing that vapors from evaporating fuel would overload the vapor recovery system if the car were allowed to sit.
Went in to have oil changed, told she was leaking coolant. She took vehicle to Chrysler, who said they have to replace the rear heater lines. They are now replacing the rear heater lines with tube supply and return. It was corroded. They are not notifying customers that they have these faulty heater lines.
