4 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 11/18/2018

Every time I go to put gas in my van it acts like it is full, it keeps stopping. This is getting worse every time, to the point I am ready to trash it because no one in their right mind would want to deal with this especially in winter as I am now. I can no longer tell if I have a full tank or not. I have seen other complaints on this same issue with the same year. This problem needs to be fixed. . Please feel free to contact me if you need to know more.

5 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 08/01/2018

Hello, I currently have a mechanical issue with my 2005 Chrysler Town & Country. If I fill the gas tank up completely, the engine will stall. This poses a safety risk, as a sudden stop on the highway or city roads can turn me into an obstacle and accident risk. Chrysler refuses to repair my vehicle. Upon further investigation, there is a Chrysler service bulletin for the exact issue that I'm having. You can view it at the following link: https://static. Nhtsa. Gov/odi/tsbs/2016/sb-10074652-2280. Pdf in the document above, it states that it covers mdh 0901xx vehicles built on or after 09/01/2003, or mdh 0331xx vehicles built on or before March 31, 2004. My vehicle is an mdh 0901xx, and it is built after 09/01/2003. I took it to the dealer, and the technician didn't understand what this meant. The mdh format is mmddhh where mm is the month, dd is the day, and hh is the hour. Example: mdh 100819 decodes 10 = tenth month (October) 08 = eighth day 19 = nineteenth hour (7 pm) my vehicle's mdh is 0901xx. It was built in 09/2004. And of course, it's having the exact same problem that this NHTSA-issued service bulletin addresses. But the dealer technician still refused to service my vehicle. Vehicle is eligible to be repaired under this warranty extension (15-year/unlimited miles, according to the document above). I can provide you with the door sticker and any other information you need to verify this. Can you please help me schedule my repair at landmark Chrysler in springfield, IL? feel free to email me or call me at any time regarding this matter. If I am unable to answer the phone, please leave a voicemail and I will return your call promptly. Thanks, rashmin.

7 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 07/22/2017

2006 Chrysler Town & Country. Vehicle engine shuts off after refueling to full tank. This happens 98% of the time after fueling. Vehicle stops approximately 2 to 5 minutes after fueling that allows vehicle enough time to be in travel lane with on coming traffic. My wife was almost re-ended 2 times. This is a known defective problem with these vehicles and other Chrysler vehicles (300 model etc. ) that were repaired by Chrysler. My van is not covered according to dealer.

14 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 09/07/2016

Fuel tank multifunction control valve is not operating correctly, so vehicle stalls after refueling. The vehicle stalls after refueling both while stationary or in motion, on city streets and at gas stations. I contacted the manufacturer Chrysler and Chrysler refused to include my vehicle with the existing recall. I have a second town and country that is included in the recall, and I have attached that recall letter.

15 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2014 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 08/19/2016

Gas was pouring out of the flue line line down over the gas tank onto the freeway while driving emptying out the gas tank. Did not know the extent of the seriousness of the problem until roadside assistance was called. It was then that I was informed that the vehicle had to get clearance that the vehicle was safe to tow. Because of the nature of the problem I realized the vehicle could have caught afire while driving causing body injuries to all that were in the vehicle while driving. Have no pictures at present to upload since the vehicle is in the shop for repairs. Hopefully, I can obtain picture(s) to submit at a later date.

16 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2014 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 08/16/2016

Material selection of gas tank fitting and hard lines related to emissions and fuel delivery have attracted rodents to chew on the tanks and hardlines. The result is that the vehicle no longer meets emissions requirements without costly repairs. Spoke to 2 local dealers who indicated they see this issue 2-3 times a month each. Damage appears to manifest itself as soon as 8/16/2016 as that was the first instance we had a very small evaporative leak code in the computer and took it in for repair. Manufacture should have taken steps to prevent the parts from being "tasty". Anything from changing the composition of the material to adding protective tape is better than throwing up their hands and saying it is the rodents fault.

17 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 03/31/2016

The vehicle stalls after refueling the fuel tank. The vehicle was inmotion on a city street. Started fine but after getting about a quarter mile down the road began to run erratically and then stalled while rolling to a stop.

18 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 03/19/2016

After refueling gas tank (to the point of automatic shutoff) restarted vehicle and proceeded to leave station. The van stalled as pulling out of station onto city street, which almost caused accident from approaching vehicle, and steering affected as well. Previously, have experienced the van almost stalling, but then catching in after a few sputters, which in itself was scary. Have found many complaints for this same problem with numerous year Dodge and Town & Country minivans online allexperts. Com/q/Chrysler-repair-807/f/stalling-refueling. Htm. Folks there stating they have been told they have to replace entire fuel tank to correct the problem. It is hard to believe the manufacturer does not know about this problem with so many complaints online! as minivan choice of vehicle for folks with families of small children, this seems like a dire problem in need of investigation not only for the year 2007, but from 2003 on.

19 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 03/03/2016

Vehicle smells like gasoline after each use. Fuel is visibly leaking at the fuel line connection to the fuel tank. The VIN search comes up without results but the make/model search lists a fuel line recall. What gives?.

20 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 03/02/2016

The van is stalling immediately after refueling. It initially starts, and then when I pull out and stop at the intersection it dies. It is necessary to keep the gas pedal mashed as I am trying to restart it or it just keeps dying as soon as the engine turns over. Once it restarts, I have to keep the gas pedal pushed down while it idles roughly for a minute or so and then it evens out and has no further problems until I refuel again. I have read this is a common problem on 2204-2007 Chrysler vans that requires replacing the whole gas tank to replace the vapor/fluid separator valve causing the problem.

21 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 02/23/2016

The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler town and country. While traveling 60 mph, the vehicle stalled. After ten minutes, the vehicle restarted. When the fuel tank was half full, the vehicle immediately ran out of fuel. In addition, the warning lights on the instrument panel no longer illuminated and the seat belt sensor warning indicator illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 265,000.

22 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 02/19/2016

My 2006 Chrysler town and country minivan stalls shortly after fueling. It has happened several times when I have pulled out of a gas station and start to accelerate on a main road. One time I pulled out and the van stalled in the middle of a high speed road. A tractor trailer had to swerve into oncoming traffic to avoid rear ending me. I had my two children in the van with me. It happens after I refuel the van and start to accelerate. I've found other complaints online about the same issue. They say it is a faulty gas/liquid seperator valve located at the top of the fuel tank. When it goes bad, fuel gets sucked up into the charcoal canister for the emmisions and that is what causes the van to stall. Chrysler is aware of the problem. It is a safety issue when your vehicle stalls out when you are trying to merge into high speed traffic. My understanding is that the entire gas tank needs to be replaced because that liquid/gas seperator valve is part of the gas tank. This should be a safety recall. When I call Chrysler to file a complaint, the guy told me that the 3. 4l Chrysler vans were recalled for this exact reason but since I had a 3. 8l engine I did not qualify. I don't understand why an engine size would make a difference if the problem is with a faulty valve in the gas tank and the gas tank is the same on both vehicles. Can someone explain this to me please? Chrysler has already set the prcedence on the recall and they need to broaden it to all vehicles with this same gas tank valve issue before someone gets killed.

23 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 01/18/2016

My 2007 Chrysler town and country touring stalls after a full tank fill up. This is a very dangerous issue, it happens after every fill up.

24 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2015 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 09/27/2015

This could happen to any vehicle with a fuel tank and a sliding passenger door on the same side. A friend was at the gas pump refueling, the rest of us were still in the van talking. We decided we needed some more information which was in my purse in the very back of the van. With out thinking I opened the sliding door which was on the same side as the fuel door, causing the sliding door to catch the fuel nozzle and knock it out of the vehicle. Luckily the person doing the fueling reacted quickly and there was not a real disaster. So there needs to be some type of lock or sensor that will not let the sliding door open if the fuel tank refueling door is open. We were very lucky, a few splashes of gasoline on us and the side of the van. We were all adults, I can only think of how terribly wrong this could have gone. There are many scenario's to consider and think about. I felt so bad and scared, I do not want another person to go through this!! I cannot believe we were the first that this has happened to, but it needs to be brought to someone's attention!!.

27 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 04/15/2015

The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that the fuel tank only accepted two gallons of fuel at a time. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and it was diagnosed for fuel valve failure. The part was unavailable for repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 56,000.

28 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 04/04/2015

I was driving down the road and the engine turned itself off. Luckily I was able to coast to the side of the road and away from flowing traffic. I took my van into the mechanic and they discovered that there is a faulty roll-over valve in the fuel system, which was allowing gasoline to leak into the engine. I had filled my tank up with gasoline prior to this happening and the mechanic believes that the pressure of the gasoline on the valve allowed the gas to escape into the engine. I am so thankful this happened on a side street and not a busy highway. I had my kids with me when this happened so I am furious they were put in jeopardy over a faulty part. Now I'm stuck with a huge bill to get the valve replaced to make my van safe to drive again.

29 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 01/01/2015

Every time I fill up my fuel tank, 1 minute later, when I press on the accelerator, the van stalls. I have to start it again, takes a while but it starts. The van runs fine afterwards. This happens everytime I fill it up with fuel.

30 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 10/31/2014

After I fill up my van then starting after about 30 seconds to a minute the engine would run rough and if you did not give it the gas it would stop. I mentioned this to my dealer but they did not know or hear of this problem. In the November 2014 issue of consumer reports I noticed in the "road report" section about fuel tank problems with 2007-2008 Chrysler vehicles. I checked the web and in the "allpar. Com news" that covers all Chrysler vehicles it had a article about 2006-2007 vehicles "stalling on a full fuel tank". I have had this problem since I purchased the vehicle in March of 2011 with approximately 32000 miles. My dealer said since there was no recall on this that they could not do anything about this unless I paid to have it fixed. In the allpar article it stated that it is the problem with the "stant-built floats in the fuel tank". I am use to this happening so I am ready for it. I keep my foot on the gas in neutral if I am stopped to ensure the engine does not die. If I am driving just need to be aware and keep on the gas and it passes in about 10 seconds. Please help. Thanks.

31 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2014 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 10/07/2014

As I was driving on a local road, about 30 mph, I lost acceleration. All the dashboard lights were still on, but as I pressed the accelerator, it would not go. I quickly pulled over, shut off the van, and restarted it. It was fine after the restart. I called the dealer and they asked if I had a lot of key chains on the key. I had none. They said make sure I am pushing the key all the way in when I start the car. Also,I had plenty of gas. I haven't had a problem since (it is now April, 2015), but my other Town & Country Mini van 2008 did the same thing yesterday. We did get a new key fab for it, since the old one was broken. It was the same exact thing that happened. She had half a tank of gas.

32 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 09/08/2014

I purchase the vehicle on September 6, 2014 and am the second owner of the vehicle. I do not have any information regarding the following problem prior to the purchase. The engine stalls while I am driving or idling shortly after refueling. I do not top off the gas tank. This has happened after each refuel since I purchased the vehicle (approximately 12 times in total). The car will sputter and then stall while idling or will jerk forward violently as the engine sputters while I am driving and then stall. This may happen immediately in the gas station parking lot or as far away as 1 mile down the road after refueling. I was nearly rear-ended this morning when this occurred.

33 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 08/18/2014

The contact owns a 2008 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that fuel fumes were emitted into the vehicle and fuel was leaking from the fuel tank. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 87,870.

34 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2004 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 07/03/2014

After fueling, left the station and drove approximately a half mile when the van's engine stalled and the van lost power. It was quite dangerous since I had no control over the vehicle until it coasted to a stop. An internet search revealed many people experiencing the same problem caused by a faulty valve in the fuel tank.

35 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 06/15/2014

I had just filled up the gas tank and was departing a gas station. It was a large parking lot, so I was accelerating to merge onto us-19 in homossassa springs, FL and the engine stalled completely. Luckily, we had not exited the gas station parking lot and I was able to steer out of traffic and come to a complete stop. This has happened multiple times since the first occurrence, without injury, or accident. Ever since the the third occurrence and a review of online literature, we never completely fill up the gas tank anymore.
