Failure Date: 01/03/2019

After filling the gas tank on my van, it stalls a couple minutes later after pulling out onto the highway, this has happened the last 2 times it was filled. I takes a few tries to get it to restart. Both times I have almost been rear ended. This is a very dangerous problem. I read where this has been a problem on other year Chrysler vans and now its happening to mine.

5 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2007 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 03/02/2018

Engine stalls or stumbles after filling up. Has been happening since about 90,000 miles, currently at 97,500. The stall that occurred in an intersection yesterday a couple blocks from the gas station was a dangerous and tense situation but thankfully drivers around me were alert and courteous and nothing bad happened. When it stalls the steering and brakes are no longer power assisted, so a smaller driver may not be able to control the vehicle. After stalling, I put the flashers on, shift into park, and am able to restart the vehicle and continue. Sometimes it will stall or stumble a couple of times within a mile or so of the station. This is the pattern. Fill up, stall once or twice or stumble once or twice, then fine for the rest of the tank. It is interesting to me that this does not cause any engine codes to present.

6 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2007 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 11/07/2017

Vehicle stalls a minute or so after filling gas tank while driving. This happened on several different occasions.

7 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 11/01/2017

Vehicle stalls out within 30 seconds of filling the gas tank. I don't double click the nozzle. The part causing the problem is the "rollover valve". This is permanently attached to the gas tank. It is allowing raw gas to enter the charcoal canister, not just fumes. The tank must be replaced to correct the problem. I have contacted Chrysler. (reference number: 32952411 email case number: 3568281) they say there is no recall or extended warranty for that vehicle.

8 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2004 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 03/18/2017

Car stalls when full gas tank. Doesn't happen every time, but it's always when full. Makes very unsafe condition. I've learned not to make left turns in first 5 minutes after filling, or best not to fill. It's a common problem when looking online, Chrysler replaces tank for valve on tank for some people. They refuse to do anything for me, but offer a $1500 fix. It truly is a widespread safety hazzard.

9 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2007 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 02/10/2017

When trying to pump fuel into tank ,it accepts between 4 and 5 gallons , then spurts fuel back out of tank neck. It seems no matter how slowly you pump after the 4 or 5 gallons it just shoots fuel back at you. This occurs while at a filling station.

10 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

13 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2004 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 11/21/2015

After refueling the van the engine starts easily, I then pull out into traffic and then the engine stalls out in traffic. This only happens after filling the tank full. Usually will restart after the starter cranks a bit. Then the van runs fine until I refill the gas tank again. This has happened on numerous occasions since I purchased the vehicle used three years ago. Your form only has room for one occasion to report.

14 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2006 Chrysler Town & Country

In order to start the vehicle, the contact had to shift into neutral if the vehicle was still moving or in park if the vehicle was stopped. The failure recurred. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the liquid/vapor separator valve failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there were no recalls regarding the failure. In order to repair the valve, the entire fuel tank needed to be replaced as well. The approximate failure mileage was 83,000.

17 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 08/07/2015

Stalling after refueling began on our vehicle about a month ago. Today, with my son in the van, it stalled on the highway 610 garrisionville, stafford va. . The danger was that I was on a turn and the steering wheel became impossible for me to turn it. This is a major safety issue, and my hope is that Chrysler makes good on a defective part. (I see they did that after a gov't investigation of a similar nature for other cars) it seems to stall after filling and have not yet had it happen again till I refuel the tank. .

18 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 08/04/2015

After filling up gas tank, vehicle stalls and jerks. A little while later, it may shut down entirely or the vehicle may stall again while pressing the accelerator. Vehicle has shut down on major road and stalled badly on main highway.

19 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 08/01/2015

When filling the gas tank, gas continued to pump when the tank was full and it overflowed out of the tank onto the ground. I assumed it was a broken pump at the gas station, and reported the spill to the clerk. Next refueling at a different station it happened again. Only way to prevent it is to leave the car running while refueling so you can watch the gas gauge rise and stop before it gets too full. There is no way to misuse or abuse this part of the car, so one can assume the part was defective. Dealership informed my it would cost $1400 to fix.

20 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2006 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 07/27/2015

Filled up our van with gas. Left the gas station to cut across oncoming traffic. The lane was clear so I went. As I accelerated the van shuddered and cut off in the middle of traffic!. Lost all power, steering wheel locked up, and the engine cut off. Luckily we were not in a head on collision or were t-boned in the side. My wife and 1 year old were in the car and could have easily been killed. Immediately I went and started doing some research on what happened. Come to find it a lot of people are having this problem with these vans. The problem is a design flaw in the gas system of these vans. I found multiple people who are experiencing the same thing. To date there have been no recalls on this issue. . Read more...

21 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2007 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 06/06/2015

I bought it used with 60,000 mi and 1 year into it it started choking after any fill and a couple times it died while driving . . Slow speeds at take off and in town. . It could last up to 1/2 hour. . Sputtering on and off. . . Real distressing when I was on the freeway with 3 lanes of traffic. . Would have been a pile up if it had died. . Brought it to Chrysler after that and they replaced the fuel level//sending unit and the fuel pump for $400. . . Seemed to be better but its been six months and it's beginning to choke up again. . . I've been filling it at a 1/2 tank level which seems to be helping the most. . . Very dangerous in traffic!!!!!I if you're not going to recall at least identify the problem so we can fix it.

22 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 06/03/2015

Van has started stalling out after filling the tank. It usually stalls shortly after leaving that station while speeding up after a turn. So far it hasn't completely died but I have to rev the engine to keep it running. I have found several complains on-line that say the repair is to completely replace the fuel tank and canister the same as the repair for the 300, the magnum and the charger.

23 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2007 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 03/03/2015

Car stalls out after filling up at gas stations. After speaking with a mechanic and researching the issue it seems as if there is problem with the liquid separator valve and the fix for this would be to replace the whole gas tank including that valve. Unless the car remains started while filling, the stalling persists causing safety hazards on the highway and local roads.

24 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 02/14/2015

This is dangerous - car stalled while on highway and during a turn, locking out the steering system and putting my car into oncoming traffic. This happened after filling the car up with gas - as with other Chrysler models of this year, it looks like there is a problem with the valve in the gas tank. I experienced sputtering after gas fill ups two days prior, and this final fill up the engine completely died. I had my whole family in the car. Fortunately we avoided an accident, but if we had been in one and survived I would have sued. There is a whole forum online at this address of people who have experienced the same issue and have been put in dangerous situations. . Read more...

25 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2007 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 02/02/2015

My 2007 Chrysler town and country touring minivan stalls after filling up with gas everytime when get gas. Van starts and you start to drive and then all of a sudden the car stalls in the middle of an intersection and you have to shift van into park quickly and then restart van and then put in gear. Can drive a mile down the road and it happens in the middle of driving at a higher speed. Once you drive it for about 10 minutes continuous it stops stalling until the next time you get gas. Also sometimes when trying to fill up gas tank, if close to empty, the sensor in the gas tank that let's the gas station pump know that the tank is full makes the pump stop after just a gallon pumped in and keep sending that signal that it is full and won't let you fill anymore. Have to wait till the next day before it let's you fill up completely without doing that sensor issue. However it does the stalling after filling up with gas no matter how much gas is put in the gas tank.

26 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2006 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 01/01/2015

It has happened numerous times that shortly after filling the gas tank, my van stalls. This has happened several times while in or at an intersection. It never stalls after that, until the next fill up.

27 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2006 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 12/26/2014

Right after filling up her 2006 town and country with gas, my daughter and 2 small children pulled out of the gas station into a busy intersection and the van sputtered and stalled out right in a busy intersection. The van did restart and thank god no one was hurt or killed. Then 2 min. Later it stalled again. It started again and was able to get it home. I am her father and have some background in auto mechanics. I did some checking and it seems there is some problems with the charcoal canister on the fuel tanks that are the problem with these vans. Sounds to me like there should be a recall for this problem before someone gets killed. I know if my daughter and granddaughters get hurt or worse, I will sue the pants off crysler.

28 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 12/17/2014

After filling up the gas tank with gas, I drive away from the gas station and the van stalls. This has happened on a 2 lane divided highway in which I was almost killed! can someone please look into this situation.

29 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 12/12/2014

Van began running ragged after filling up at gas station. It then stalled on a 4-lane highway. Was almost rear-ended. Looked up symptoms on-line and saw numerous complaints of same van and that issue was related to the gas tank, fuel entering vapor canister.

30 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2006 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 11/22/2014

Surely after filling up, my van will stall out nearly stall out. At times, the oil light will come on. After turning off and restarting the vehicle, the light goes off. It will also lurch forward unexpectedly, sometimes stalling and sometimes not. All of these problems only appear just after filling the tank. This is extremely dangerous if the vehicle stalls unexpectedly while driving down the road.

31 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2004 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 11/18/2014

I filled my gas tank full, and drove my car to a parking lot, later on I went to leave the parking slot and smelled gasoline, and found leakage underneath the vehicle. I took it to an independent mechanic who indicated the metal ring that applies mechanical pressure to the fuel pump / sending unit is severely corroded causing the tangs that hold down the assembly tightly in the tank hole, to fail, causing the pressure on the seal to be inadequate and allow the seal to function. This problem is not causing the check engine lamp to be illuminated, thus is not warning me of this dangerous situation. I purchased another 2004 Chrysler town and country tank, and while it is possibly serviceable, the ring on it is also corroded, and is likely to fail again if put into service. I live in the northern rust belt states. Driving in northeast ohio, western PA wher corrosion is enhanced by salt applied to prevent snow and ice accidents. I have not yet taken the failed tank off the vehicle. I am wondering if Chrysler should repair this for free and recall others that are likely having the same problems in rust prone areas. Was told that this exact tank was only used in 2004. I am currently operating by filling the tank with less than 10 gsllons at a time from an empty tank who's is an inconvenient to do things and probably still not safe in case of a roll over accident, so I hope to get a response from you fairly soon, thank you for you attention in this matter!.

32 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 11/16/2014

After filling gas tank, vehicle stalled as I was turing back into traffic. The engine has threatened to stall several times after fill-ups over the past two years. This is the same issue as described in investigation ps13-016 for similar models from Chrysler. That investigation has led to a very narrowly drawn warrantee extension. On-line research indicates this is a common problem.

33 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2007 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 09/10/2014

Van surged and stalled while entering the freeway after filling the fuel tank this happens randomly after fill ups.

34 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2004 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 09/04/2014

Immediately after refueling engine runs rough like a severe misfire condition for several minutes. If a stop is made during this misfire time frame a stall often occurs. Flooring the accelerator often helps "power through" or clear the condition, but not in every occurrence. This occurs every time fuel is added regardless if the tank is filled completely (until pump stops automatically) or partially (pump cut off by vehicle owner). Status of tank at time of fill up also does not have an effect on the occurrence of this problem, it does not matter if the tank is half, one-fourth, or three-fourths full, problem always persists after fueling. This condition is not dependent on weather conditions, current maintenance status, or by which gas station or pump is used at the station. No mil illumination (except with bulb check after stall) and no codes stored to record incident in pcm. No history in pcm to indicate an issue. Suspect this has something to do with evap or fuel vapor system not operating properly after filling gas tank.

35 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2007 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 08/12/2014

After filling up with gas and pulling out of gas station, the van will stall. I expect this now and try to get it to stall in the gas station parking lot but this is very dangerous if you have to pull out into traffic. Happens every time I get gas now. Only fill until pump turns off to avoid over-filling but it doesn't help. Saw this was due to failing valves in gas tank allowing liquid fuel into the charcoal canister but there isn't a recall. This should be a recall item due to the safety issue.
