36 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2007 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 06/10/2014

Multiple times (3 times to date), immediately after filling up the fuel tank, the engine has stalled shortly after starting the engine and pulling away from the pump. We didn't get onto the roadway before the engine stalled. After shifting to park and restarting, the engine ran normally. This stalling after refueling issue has been reported by numerous other Town & Country owners.

37 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2007 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 05/05/2014

Our 2007 Chrysler town and country van has experienced several instances of stalling after fill-up. I now see that others have experienced this. The worst times are when we let it go below 1/4 tank before filling. Two (2) times this has nearly led to accidents. One (1) time while turning, and another when it stalled pulling away from a stop sign. I am now the only driver allowed to drive the van after fill ups, since I won't take the chance of the vehicle stalling when my wife or daughters are driving. While the report I read said there have been no accidents or deaths reported yet, this malfunction will certainly lead to them. I implore the NHTSA and Chrysler fiat to recall and fix this issue before a van full of kids stalls turning in front of a truck. Thank you.

38 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 05/01/2014

I purchased a 2005 Chrysler town and country. After a few months without incident, the vehicle would randomly stall (no power, engine off, stop in its tracks). After it happened three times, I realized this only occurs when filling the tank fully, after driving a minute or two. It is so dangerous! luckily, I had always pulled into a nearby store for another errand. If it had happened on the street, I would have been rear ended! the vehicle stops with no warning. All power shuts off and engine dies. It stops in its place and you are unable to coast and pull over. I can't believe there is no recall on this.

39 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2006 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 04/07/2014

After a fill up and driving a short distance, the engine sputtered and stalled while sitting at a stop light. This happened 2 or 3 other times right after filling the tank completely full and then driving the vehicle a short distance to the first intersection. What I discovered is that I can no longer fill the tank until the gas pump automatically shuts off. This is a hazard and potentially life threatening defect. From what I can gather, the problem is the vapor/liquid separator valve located at the top of the fuel tank.

40 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 03/03/2014

Numerous times, upon filling gas tank, vehicle stalls in first few miles of driving. Has almost caused numerous accidents. Apparently this is a common problem, the NHTSA really needs to push for a recall. I cannot fill up totally for rear of getting hit.

41 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 02/03/2014

After filling up gas tank and re-starting the engine, the engine either stumbles or stalls 1-5 times beginning within about 60 seconds of starting engine and driving away from gas station. This has been happening repeatedly over the last year and has become more frequent in the past 6 months. At least twice, it has stalled while pulling into an intersection right after fill up. After about 5 minutes, the stumbling/stalling stops and doesn't recur until after the next fill up. It occurs during both low-speed driving (e. G. Waiting at a light) and at high-speed driving (e. G. Merging onto interstate highway immediately after filling up) online forums indicate this is a common problem with this make vehicle and say the only fix is replacement of the entire gas tank. E. 42 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2006 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 02/03/2014

The vehicle will stall after filling the fuel tank, usually within the first quarter mile. It will stall one or two times, requiring a restart, often in the middle of an intersection or pulling into traffic. This happens nearly every time the fuel tank is filled. There are many online forums that attest to how common this problem is in Dodge caravan, Chrysler town and country, and Jeep models.

43 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2004 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 01/13/2014

Minivan stalled after fueling up. Took the van immediately to a Chrysler dealer who could not find any problem. Then after a couple weeks, the same problem occurred after fueling and attempting to make a left hand turn. Then the van almost stalled the next time filling the tank up and entering a highway (gas purchased in a different state at a different gas station). Then again after filling up with a premium name brand superior fuel and a gas additive. Very concerned about this problem and not sure we can trust dealer after misdiagnosis the first time.

44 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2007 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 09/09/2013

After filling up the gas tank, and driving about two blocks, the engine stalled during deceleration for a stop sign. The vehicle was able to be restarted after several tries and being allowed it sit for a moment. The engine started to die again at a stop sign a few blocks later, but the driver was able to prevent that by giving it gas and avoiding coming to a complete stop. Between then and the next time the vehicle was filled up with gas, there were no further problems. This problem has re-occurred periodically over approximately the last year, often enough that it's come to be expected after getting gas. It always happens after the gas tank is filled, between two and six blocks from the gas station, and while decelerating.

45 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2007 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 08/15/2013

After filling up the fuel tank and driving maybe one block the engine stalled. This happens now after every fillup. It is exactly the same symptoms as in NHTSA action number : pe13016 for other Chrysler products of the previous year. A search in google came up with many, many people with many different cars experiencing the same thing. If you pull out of the gas station directly onto a highway and stall while trying to merge into high speed traffic, the results could be disastrous (b'ah).

46 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 07/10/2013

After filling the gas tank and driving away from the gas station the engine quit. Put the vehicle in neutral and restarted the vehicle. This has happened a number of times since the first incident. Always after filling the gas tank, but not at every refill. Checking on line indicates that this is happening to a number of people and the solution is replacing the gas tank, appears that a valve is allowing fuel to enter a filter which is causing the problem. A more detailed explanation is available on the internet.

47 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2004 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 06/03/2013

For the past year, after filling up the gas tank, our van would start to shudder and sometimes stall immediately after pulling out of the station. It would restart after a minute, but stall again, especially after a left turn. It happened again two days ago when my wife filled up, and she and my young son were coming home, and turned left at an intersection with a traffic light. The engine started dying and the van shuddered violently and just quit. Fortunately, she was able to coast through the light and pull into a lot on the right. The dash lights were all lit, but the engine was not running. It did restart again, and she brought it home, though the van rode very rough, like the road was bumpy, when it wasn't. I read 30-40 stories from people who had the exact same issue, on various model years. Many of those stories are on this very page, for owners' complaints. But as of now, Chrysler is offering no repair for an obvious design or manufacturing fault. Please, Chrysler, help us with the repair costs for this wide-spread and very dangerous problem, before people die.

48 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2004 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 05/29/2013

Van stalls after filling gas tank.

49 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 06/01/2011

Beginning around mid-2011, the vehicle would stall out immediately after filling (but not over-filling) the gas tank. Fill the tank, pull out into traffic, engine stalls. Hope you don't get hit. The dealership eventually confirmed the problem was a faulty valve on the top of the gas tank that is supposed to pass fuel vapor through the evap canister to the engine to burn off the vapor that gets displaced as the tank is filled. The valve was faulty and was passing liquid fuel. The evap canister was saturated and passed liquid fuel to the engine when the engine was expecting vapor. It stalled out every time. This is a serious safety flaw that can easily cause an accident and personal injury. Chrysler should pay to fix this problem.

50 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 01/01/2011

Problem started 01/2011 at approximately 100,000 miles. Vehicle stalls after filling gas tank. If you fill tank and pump shuts off the vehicle will stall after a couple minutes. Doesn't happen all the time but, about 85% of the time. It stalls anywhere from 1-3 times. It has stalled when I was in traffic driving and when I sit stationary and wait for it to happen before driving. Almost got rear ended on a couple of occasions. Had a repair on it at the dealer on 03/17/2011. They replaced the evap canister. Copy attached. It fixed the problem for about a year and a half and then it came back. I've seen lots of complaints on the internet for the same issue. I've read that the only fix is to replace the entire fuel tank. I can't afford that. For years now I've been sitting at the pump for 5 minutes after fueling or I don't fill the tank all the way up. The stalling is very dangerous because it can happen at any time when stationary, driving and turning. It is very dangerous when driving in traffic and going through intersections. I want to sell my car but, I'm afraid of getting sued if this defect causes an accident. I have not received any information from Chrysler for a recall. They really need to look into this common complaint.

51 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2004 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 02/12/2010

Within a few minutes of filling the fuel tank, the engine will stalls. It can happen at any speed from 0-50 mph. The engine will stall about 80% of the time after fuelling.

52 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2004 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 01/01/2010

Every time when fill up the gas tank the engine will stalled (but you can start up ) will run rough for 4 to 5 miles after that engine will back to normal condition, I have known a lot people have a same problem with there types of vehicles, this does sound like a design flaw. About 75,000 miles it started to stall right after filling up. It is a dangerous situation especially if it stalls in the middle of an intersection or on railroad tracks. Chrysler should recall there types of vehicle.
