1 Steering Is Tight problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 05/15/2017

While traveling down hill in my neighborhood at approximately 15-20mph my 2005 Chrysler town and country shut down. I did not notice if any check engine lights came in because I was just focused on not hitting anything or dying. However I did notice that the gas hand said it was on e, the speedometer said 0, and the temperature gage was at the coolest setting. The breaks stoped working completely and the steering wheel was very hard to turn. If it had not been for the speed bumps in my are hood I would have wrecked for sure. Thankfully I didn't and inwas able to slowy make the turn (with a lot of effort) I needed to at the end of the hill. The headlights and the radio did work the entire time. Once I was able to stop the van completely I turned the key to the off position and restated it. It did start on the 1st try and I was able to make it home (less then 1 mile away). I am now terrified to drive it because no one can figure out what is wrong with it. The van has been kept in good shape, oil changes, scheduled maintenance, etc. And it's never been in an accident.

2 Steering Is Tight problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 10/29/2015

After several months waiting for the r03 recall to be done, it was finally fixed. To my dismay, as I was driving off the parking lot of the dealer who fixed it I started hearing a clicking noise in my steering wheel. It was never like that before and now there is a problem with it. Dealer claims it is the clock spring assembly and will cost be roughly $500 but dealer refuses to pay for it. They stated they were no where near the steering wheel which is hard to believe since they were replacing the ignition which I thought were right next to it. And I've actually read several consumer complaints that had a similar problem. Chrysler is looking into this but I won't hold my breathe.

3 Steering Is Tight problem of the 2011 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 09/10/2015

For a week I had trouble getting vehicle to start, on 9/10/15 only 5 months after buying vehicle it starting loosing power while I was driving 45 mph down a busy highway. No lights came on indicating there was no power it just started slowing down, so I pulled over which was very hard to do because the steering wheel was tight and the brakes were tight as well. Finally got it to crank so I could get to a safe place off of the side of the road. I had it towed to a local mechanic who stated it was fuel pump but he wanted dealership look at it to be sure that was the only thing. They towed in on 9/16/15. Was not able to get it fixed until 9/23/15, when I had my husband take me to pick it up. I drove it across town to work, at lunch would not crank. They had to tow it back to dealership where they informed me there was a bad connector and was fixing that. After fixing that still would not crank so they have been going wire for wire trying to find out the problem because the tipm is on national backorder so unable to get a new one for now. It has been 3 weeks without my van.

4 Steering Is Tight problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 03/21/2015

I was making a left turn and the steering wheel was hard to turn left, not to the right. While turning left the steering colum made a load noise. When I parked took the key out the switch the motor continued to run for about 3-5 seconds before it stoped. When I came out of the store cranked up and went straight home slowly and the left turn was still hard to make and when I stoped in my drive way I put the vehicle in park and took the key out the motor ran for about another 5 seconds. I checked the power steering fluid , the oil and coolent all looked okey I waited about 15 min. And cranked the vehicle up the key seem to turn farther than normal but it cranked up okey,so I shut it back off took the key out and the motor ran another 3 -5 sec. I put the key back in the switch and the radio and mileage started flashing on and off so I took the key out and talked to a mechanic about it.
