5 Structure problem of the 2006 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 08/27/2012

While driving down a road at 20mph, the spare tire fell out of my Chrysler town and country 2006 van. It became lodged under the vehicle. The vehicle had to be jacked up and the tire was then released. The cable is frayed. Further damage was done to pipes that fell with the tire. The car had to be towed to the dealer to be repaired as I felt it would be unsafe to attempt to drive there. I called Chrysler to see if there had been a safety recall and was told that this has not been an issue. After researching online, I discovered that it has been and is an issue. I am concerned about mine and others safety regarding these vehicles with spare tires mounted underneath. If I had been driving faster, or on a highway, injuries or fatalities could have resulted. I called Chrysler regarding this and was questioned about my driving and whether I hit something, which I assure you I did not. I am concerned that Chrysler is not taking this issue seriously.

6 Structure problem of the 1999 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 03/21/2012

It had been raining but had stopped. I was making a right hand turn when my right tire went through approximately 2-4" of water in the gutter. I immediately lost control of the steering and veered into the opposite lane. Fortunately there were no cars in that lane. I had difficulty steering and the engine began to overheat. I was fortunate the garage was around the corner. The belt had slipped off the pulleys. The belt had not broken, only slipped off. They said I was the 3rd town and country that day that had to have the belt put back on due to the wet weather, and that it was a problem with model for many years. This is the 3rd time to send this report. When I hit "verify" everything goes blank.

7 Structure problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 01/05/2012

Our 2008 Chrysler Town & Country leaked water from a manufacturer defect in the ac drain tube, rotted the carpet and underlay, filled the wiring harness under the passenger carpet with water. The drain tube was replaced under a recall. The ac started to blow hot air. The dealer said it was the ac compressor so we had it replaced. $ 800. This did not fix the problem so they said it needed the ac pressure switch and harness so we replaced it. $400. This still did not fix the problem so the Chrysler dealer then diagnosed the tipm. After $ 1200 we still have no ac. We have another $ 500 to pay if we can ever get the part. The whole problem is from the water from the defective drain tube shorting the electrical system and Chrysler know it. The dealer said the tipm was on back order and there were 600 others ahead of us. We contacted Chrysler but they are just giving us the run around. We bought Chrysler to support american jobs. What a grave mistake.

11 Structure problem of the 2010 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 01/23/2011

I just purchased a brand new 2010 Chrysler town and country. It had 9 miles on it when we bought it, and within the first 100 miles into a cross-country move, the right, rear window became unhinged. It is now hanging by a who knows what. We are stranded 300 miles from our final destination and Chrysler has no idea whether this is a systemic manufacturing issue, a design issue, or even when and how it can be fixed. We have three children in car seats that ride in this minivan, and we know that there is significant risk to ourselves or others on the road if we drive with window that is not attached securely. Chrysler has been non-responsive so far to this issue.

12 Structure problem of the 2007 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 07/03/2010

2007 Chrysler town and country with stow and go seats, driving down a street in lubbock, TX the lane had about 3 inches of rain water in it. Heard a loud noise on the bottom of the van. The next day I discovered that the spare tire assembly was missing. Though this may not be a safety concern to me, it may be to others following. I think the water pressure splashing on the bottom of the van caused the cable holding the spare tire assembly to loosen and eventually snap.

17 Structure problem of the 1999 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 09/29/2008

Took van in for slight engine noise and mechanic noticed that strut tower was nearly rusted through. Took to the dealer who stated that the car was unsafe to drive under any circumstances since one rough piece of road and the car body could fall to the ground and the strut assembly come through the dash into the passenger compartment. This will now cost over 1500. 00 to repair. Chrysler issued a service bulletin on this in 2002, since they were aware that vans from 1998 to 2002 were subject to this. They called it a "cosmetic problem". Any problem that will cause a metal object several feet long to violently and suddenly explode through the dash into the passenger compartment at the driver is hardly a "cosmetic problem". "cosmetic problems" do not render a vehicle unsafe to drive. Chrysler has acknowledged the problem and redesigned the strut tower to eliminate this in later models. Now they need to recall the vehicles that are rusting out before people die!.

31 Structure problem of the 1996 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 03/27/1999

I have read all the complaints about the 1996 town and country. I find it interesting how the complaints are exact to one another. Different owners, same problems. Chrysler takes no responsibility for the problems of this vehicle. I have owned mine since 1999 and have experienced every single one of these claims that other consumers have experienced. I will never purchase another Chrysler product again and will make sure to let the people I care about know the problems of this over priced hunk of rusted metal. I would certainly hate to see them go through the grief I have owning this vehicle!.

32 Structure problem of the 1997 Chrysler Town & Country

I own a 1997 Chrysler town and country sx. My wife and I bought this Mini-van back in 09/97. My problem is this, during the rainy season, everytime I step on the brake or accelerate from the full stop, I can hear water splashing back and forthe on the rear driver side. Local dealership were able to get rid of the water, at no cost, that was trapped on the "seam plate" (that's what they called it). After 36,000 miles, I called the local dealership's service department for the same situation, and they said that my new car warranty had expired and that if I wanted the problem fixed, I would have to pay for it on my own. Isn't trapping water inside the "seam plate" would cause for its components to rust and that rusting could make those tainted areas fragile? please advise if I should be concerned regarding my vehicle's situation or what I should do to get the problem fixed. I appreciate your time reading this comments and hoping to get a response. Yours truly, romel.
