3 Tailgate problem of the 2007 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 03/03/2016

If I use the key fob or the interior panel button to raise the tailgate it will start to shut on its own and will push then pin you down quickly to the vehicle until someone hits either button or it finally disengages which takes awhile. It doesn't bounce back up if it touches your body. Tailgate will sometimes start raising and shutting several times. Mostly happens if the weather is cool to cold. The vehicle is stationary - loading groceries. Manually unlocking it at the tailgate the door will not stay up but it does not pin. Mostly happens when temperatures are cool to cold. It started doing this since last year around the holiday season. Last time was early March 2016. Reporting so interested buyers know to ask about this issue if its not cold and for present owners watch for this problem when loading items and to keep children/elderly away from tailgate at all times when open.

4 Tailgate problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 08/28/2008

Automatic doors and tailgate do not stop if something is in their path. My wife received a serious bump on her head when the tailgate closed on her, her hand was caught in the door as it was sliding closed and my 2 year old son had his fingers closed in the sliding passenger door. There does not seem to be any or accurate sensors to prevent this and it could result in a very serious injury. I do not need to tell you the consequence of a child's head or torso being crushed. I am truly disturbed by this and I hope you will investigate it fully and find a satisfactory resolve, before there are any other injuries. The dealer simply stated they would reprogram the sensors. They picked the vehicle up and later called to say there was really nothing wrong, that although the door did close on their hand and it did hurt, it eventually stopped and I should tell my 2 year old not to put his hand in the way of the closing doors. I don't even know how to respond to their reply.

6 Tailgate problem of the 2002 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 04/15/2003

My new town and country (2002) has been rusting since day one. It was finally painted slightly under warranty at 28,000m on tailgate where it was bubbling. I continued to complain but it fell on deaf ears. The inside of the doors were photographed but nothing done. The undercarriage is completely rusted. It has holes in the body all around and bubbling is seen everywhere. It should not be doing this per local body shops and even dealer but no one will do anything. I am furious. Chrysler only thanked me for my comments. Has 68,000 on it now and has been cared for. Has no resale value due to its condition and the other issues yet paid a mint.
