36 Wiper problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 10/29/2017

Vehicle shuts off while driving. How can this problem, addressed literally hundreds and thousands of times on multiple sites, be judged by your department as not a "safety issue"? I, along with my wife, have been driving down the road with my family at highway speeds and the van completely shuts down. I have been driving down my driveway at low speeds and the van completely shuts down. The van behaves as if possessed. The horn blares, front and rear wipers come on by themselves, flashers come on by themselves, doors lock by themselves, washer fluid sprays on its own at a high volume. I have decided, since NHTSA, Chrysler, and my local dealership can't/won't help, that I will call an exorcist. I believe the exorcist will be about as much help as the three of you combined. I assume if my beautiful wife and daughter are killed as a result of the engine shutting off at random speeds one of you three will pay the funeral expense? or at least send some flowers to the visitation? how nice of you. Or should I just contact the exorcist again and see if she has a friend that could hold a seance so I can tell them how much I loved them and that their safety was just not a priority for you? seriously. It is time to do something. I do not have the kind of money the dealership is asking me to pay for a widely known and accepted defect in the manufacturing process of their vehicle. The total integrated power module (tipm) is faulty. Everyone knows it. The company acknowledges it. Thousands have been replaced at the owner's expense. When is someone going to step up? how many people have to die before it becomes a "safety issue" to you? so for now I have a very expensive lawn ornament and my family has to bum rides. Unbelievable.

37 Wiper problem of the 2012 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 10/07/2017

The object sensor modules are located in a "wet zone" yet the part is not water proof. The moisture blew out the circuit board of the module and actually deformed the housing. When I removed the passenger side sensor I found it was packed with mud and other debris. The sensors went simaltaneously and the triangle warning light stay "lit up" as you drive. I looked into having the issue fixed and found that the module is over $800 - that is over $1600 to fix a "safety nuisance" a poor design caused the issue. The warning signal is a distraction and a constatnt reminder that I do not have the money to fix the issue. If you can not recall for the poor design of a marketed "safety system" then they should at least make the part more feasible or provide directions on how to pull the fuse that turns on warning light.

38 Wiper problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 08/11/2017

I am having issues with my 2008 Chrysler town and country van. I recently had the dealership work on some recalls for this model. At that time, it wasn't showing any problems. Only after the recalls were addressed did the trouble begin. Now, it sporadically will not recognize either key fob. Wait a while and try to crank it and it starts back up. Today, 100 miles from home with 4 small children as passengers, it decided to have a fit at the gas pump and not start. Called road side assistance and waited for them to arrive just in time for van to decide it wanted to crank again. Cranked it up and tried to park it at a friends house close by. Detected what seemed like surges with the fuel pump while trying to get there. Finally got to a stopping point and turned the key off and the van kept running. The wipers went crazy and the horn started blowing all by itself. Is this vehicle possessed by the devil or what? it is not safe to drive and I have no other choice but to tow it back to the dealership. I don't know if anyone else has the same problem but I say this vehicle is unsafe! if there isnt a recall already issued, there certainly needs to be one.

39 Wiper problem of the 2010 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 08/04/2017

I purchased this car two years ago with a limited mile warranty. A month later the ignition module went, we are constantly taking the car to have breaks front and back and rotors repaired every month on the vehicle. We were given a false carfax report as well. If that wasn't enough there was a faulty spark plug which cost me 800. 00 to remove the head gasket to replace the plugs that were never replaced and had dry rotted. This occurred in July of 2017 after I spent 3k in rental cars to get to and from work. On 8/4/2017 the thermostat blew which cost 200. 00 to repair now the catalyct converter is gone and on 8/5/2017 the car was acting possessed. I came outside side to start the vehicle and noticed the windshield wipers were going off and the car smelt as if it were burning. They keys were not in the vehicle. I need help I have a family size of 6 with small children that ride in this unsafe vehicle every day. It is our only means of transportation to and from work and additionally I pay a monthly car payment of $410. 00 not including insurance.

41 Wiper problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 07/01/2017

Was driving down the road and the horn started blowing and the wind shield wipers went full speed and the motor turned off in the middle of the highway. They told me it was the tipm was bad and they have a ton of these vehicles with this problem! it is a very expensive fix and should be a recall item due to it being a safety problem! the vehicle shuts down and you loose all power! I have seen online other issues where the air bags actually deployed. I am so scared to drive this vehicle because I don't know if it will malfunction again!! it has happen at least 3 times already.

42 Wiper problem of the 2009 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 06/12/2017

We where driving in florida on vacation on June 12, 2017 when our 2009 Chrysler town and country started to have electrical problems . The wipers wouldn't shut off until the wiper motor burned up , the drivers seat wouldn't stop moving forward and back , the windows wouldn't go down , ac went out , the entire dash board light up and all the lights stayed on , the speedometer was dead , the gas gauge was dead , the turn signals didn't work , the dvd players didn't work . We took it to a dealership and they couldn't find anything wrong with it . It then did it again and it went back to the same dealership and again they couldn't find anything . On the way home on I-95 it started again . When we got home we took it to a garage that deals with electrical problems and he found out it was a dvd player in the front that was making it go nuts . He disconnected it and its ok but now nothing works , like the 3 dvd players, the heated mirrors , the remote start . This issue needs to be fixed before some one gets killed on the highway .

43 Wiper problem of the 2010 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 04/21/2017

Tipm went bad on a vehicle with 75k miles, rendering the windshield wipers and power door locks unuseable. One repair to replace "shorted out" windshield wiper motor was not effective.

44 Wiper problem of the 2007 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 01/16/2017

The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler town and country. While warming up the vehicle, the vehicle had no heat, the defrost blew cold air only, and the windows would not defrost. The dealer diagnosed that the heater core and engine needed to be flushed and anti freeze needed to be added. A week later, an anti freeze leak appeared. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 126,000.

45 Wiper problem of the 2012 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 01/15/2017

While attempting to clear the vehicles windshield of frost and fog the a/c unit goes out. The a/c unit is an integral part of clearing the windshield of fog and frost. This is a well know problem to Chrysler and they refuse to even help with the needed repair.

47 Wiper problem of the 2012 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 11/06/2016

Related to recall # p25. Previously the rear window switch was replaced as part of p25. Experiencing very similar issue with driver side window control switch after a rainy day where a small amount of rain came inside from going through drivethroughs etc. After that and since, windows open and close randomly during drivings causing a distraction and allowing snow/rain inside. Often the windows just get stuck. Affects 2 front, 2 passenger windows and 2 side mirrors. From inspection it appears that circuit is shorting around corrosion and had significant discoloring of board, possibly ground layer. Upon removing board that is in control switch housing found moisture gets trapped on board between rubber cover and causes corrosion and failure. Could eventually cause motor burnout and fire I suppose just like rear one. Caused window to roll down and get stuck during snow storm recently. Now can't get them down at all. Contacted Chrysler and told me to bring in to dealer. Did so and they refused to cover under existing warranty. Then dealer called Chrysler and escalated it to more senior customer support. Told me if I had "given patronage to the Chrysler dealership more often then they probably would just cover it" but that since I "was not a regular customer" they would not help me.

48 Wiper problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 10/23/2016

Was driving and the following electrical items starting on their own: ·door locks ¿ lock and unlock repeatedly ·windshield wipers ¿ highest setting non-stop ·windshield wiper fluid (used all the fluid) ·lights ¿ flashing on and off ·horn ¿ repeatedly going on and off stopped car in road and turned off car and took out the key and still the issue continued for 20 minutes until we were able to disconnect the cable to the battery at which time it all stopped. Thinking that maybe this would reset it all we tried to put the cable back on the battery and it all started again. Because we had to move it out of the road and could not get the car into neutral to push it, we started the car again and all the same issues continued as above. After driving about 100 feet to put the car in a driveway, it all stopped except a warning light for traction control. After 100 feet more, all lights were gone and the car seemed normal. Drove the car home and had no issues. Look to see if there were any trouble codes (have a code reader) and no codes are present looking internet, I found literally thousands of similar complaints and issues with this car and other Dodge (durango for example, caravan) and Jeep (cherokee for example). Almost all of them said that issue was tipm defective.

49 Wiper problem of the 2010 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 08/18/2016

All warning lights on dash board light up while driving. Wipers come on(won't shut off), if cruise control is on gears won't change. Happens on city street and highway. Purchased in 2014 has been checked 3 times. Temporary fix 2 times. Third time I was told the best guess would cost $1,000. 00. Emphasized that this is a guess. When I stop the vehicle and take the key out and put it back in and restart the car it helps.

50 Wiper problem of the 2014 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 07/18/2016

Radio, gauges, turn signals, and ac randomly stop working. Wipers turn on at the same time. Some times for seconds, sometimes for hours. There does not seem to be a trigger as it has happened while driving on the highway, back roads and even stopped in the driveway. No way to reset the car once it is in dead radio/ac/gauges mode, it will only reset itself, again randomly. I tried pulling the battery cable and waiting, then re-attaching to no avail.

51 Wiper problem of the 2014 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 07/05/2016

The contact owns a 2014 Chrysler town and country. While driving 70 mph, the contact heard an abnormal noise coming from the front driver side dashboard. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the windshield needed to be resealed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was made aware of NHTSA campaign number: 16v044000 (visibility); however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was 46,000.

52 Wiper problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 06/10/2016

When on the road in warmer weather everything is fine and then all electrical components stop working windows, air conditioner, speed control, radio, not sure what else. All idiot lights come on, wipers come on and wont stop until key is in off position or if you keep driving it will eventuality come to normal but until it does, no windows, no ac makes it a hazard in traffic at temps around 100 degrees. Makes one wonder what will happen next because it gets real hot in the car real fast and it works on your mind. When the weather is cool it hardly ever happens but when it does occur its for a shorter time. Headlites say on but I'm not sure about the brake lites and turn signals.

53 Wiper problem of the 2011 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 06/05/2016

The contact owns a 2011 Chrysler town and country. On several occasions, the heating, air conditioning system, and the windshield wipers independently activated. 54 Wiper problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 05/01/2016

The glass on the van steams up to easily during cooler weather when no heat is turned on or vent. The body of the van collects water in the doors housing the glass in the sliding doors on both passenger and driver's side. No repairs have been made to body and a recent visit to a break shop even replacement breaks the van still makes squeaks at times. A recent bumper accident I shared with a body detailer said the back bumper seems off and needs repair, I have done no repairs on the body and the van is in the original condition from owners that transferred it to me. I also feel the lighting for after leaving the van trunk light stays on anytime a door is not open and have noticed the lights in the front of the van take a while to go off after locking and turning off veichle.

55 Wiper problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 05/01/2016

After having the win module replaced due to recall the vehicle intermittently started having an issue. While driving we would loose power all gauges (rpm, mpg, fuel), start flashing all the dash lights, chiming, wipers would engage, and headlights start flashing. (all at the same time) this would randomly happen at all times day or night, in all types of weather (cold, warm, wet, dry) and at various speeds and various driving terrains(both city streets and highways). After driving at night and having headlights flashing off and on while everything lighting up and turning on and off (extremely dangerous) we left at dealership for over a week and also showed them a video that we took of the car going haywire. They however, could not diagnose problem. They said all they knew was that when this happens the vehicle is actually trying to shut itself off and that the computer was resetting itself to avoid the engine turning off. They could not tell us why this was happening or how to fix this.

56 Wiper problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 03/08/2016

On 3/7/16, 3 days following the recall repair for the win module we had done on 3/4/16, after starting the car and beginning to drive in my church parking lot, all of the dash lights lit up, the car started chiming as if I didn't have my seatbelt on, the wipers engaged, and the mph and rpm gauges dropped to zero. It continually repeated. I attempted to pull into a parking space, turn off and removed key from ignition. Restarted car, and problem persisted. I repeated this again with the problem still persisting. I pulled into a gas station, turned car off, removed key, and exited vehicle. When I restarted the car the problem had stopped. Two days later on 3/8/16 I started my car for work and as soon as I put the car in reverse the same problem started. Shut the car off, removed key, and restarted. . . Still occurring. Shut the car off, removed key, exited vehicle, restarted, still occurring. . . I proceeded to drive down the road after exiting my driveway and took a video of this problem repeating continually until a mile down the road, I pulled over into an empty parking lot, shut the car off, removed key, opened and shut the door, and let it sit for 3-5 minutes before restarting, and the problem no longer occurred. My husband called the dealership, greenwood auto in cortland, OH to tell them what was happening, and all they said that it wasn't from them repairing the win module. I find this extremely unsafe, and hard to believe this is just a coincidence as this has never happened before prior to having the recall repair done. I do not have pictures but I do have a video. Chrysler customer service now says I have to pay a Chrysler dealership for a diagnosis of this new problem, how convenient that is.

57 Wiper problem of the 2014 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 03/04/2016

The contact owns a 2014 Chrysler town and country. While the contact's wife was driving 35 mph, the headlights and windshield wipers stopped working and the brake pedal was difficult to depress. The contact's wife pulled over and parked the vehicle. The vehicle was diagnosed and repaired by the dealer, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.

58 Wiper problem of the 2012 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 02/29/2016

The contact owns a 2012 Chrysler town and country. While reversing out of the garage, the driver and passenger side blind spot mirrors failed to function. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the blind spot sensor and the harness switch that controlled the corner vent windows needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000.

59 Wiper problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 01/28/2016

The incidents below are related to the tipm. 11-22-13, 80000 miles, I have video. (I'm guessing on mileage. ) in my garage. I hit my unlock button on my fob. I do not have a starter, but my van began running, the lights, wipers & horn came on, the doors locked. I manually unlocked the door. Entering the vehicle, I tried to turn on/off the van, wipers & lights to no avail. After 1/2 hour, it stopped. I started the car. It was working. 3-17-15, 100000 miles (I'm guessing on mileage. ) in the parking lot, I tried to start my van. No response. Figured my battery died. As soon as we started a jump, van's horn started blaring, wipers, lights & motor began. Could not turn anything on/off with my key. We removed/replaced a fuse, which stopped the horn, wipers, etc. I drove home. 1-28-16, 122487 miles I left work, hit my fob's unlock button, the wipers started going, etc. (the horn's had burned out from a previous incident). I drove 4 miles. The van stalled dangerously in traffic. I was able to pull over. After 5 mins, the wipers stopped. I drove it home. The engine light came on. I made it home. Next morning, while driving, the washer fluid started shooting! I barely got the van pulled over before it stalled. I couldn't stop the wipers. It started again. I drove to about 2 miles from the dealership before it died - the wipers were still going. My tow bill was $77. When I tell service the symptoms, she said, "do you have a town and country?" I had the ignition module (recall) replaced. I went home. 2-3-16, 122600 miles driving to work. Wipers begin, wiper fluid shooting out again! 5 days prior, they said it was a recall for the ignition module. Today, it has nothing to do with the ignition module replacement. I must pay $966 to get a new tipm if I want to be safe. It is not covered under recall or warranty. I called Chrysler customer service. They said the same.

60 Wiper problem of the 2014 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 01/26/2016

It appears my electric defogger remained on and blew out my rear window.

61 Wiper problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 01/12/2016

Several times, driving at speeds of fifty-sixty-five mph, electric driver seat goes forward and back, forward and back. At the same time, wipers come on,, and all dash alerts start flashing. It does not turn car off, and repeats this several times, even in park. Scary!!!!!!!!!.

62 Wiper problem of the 2009 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 12/11/2015

The 2009 Chrysler town and country has a design flaw in the defrost vent design. The front defrost vents are not properly angled to clear the lower portion of the window. During inclement weather the wipers can become frozen to the windshield and fail to properly work. The vents are angled so as the bottom 4 inches of the window has little to no air circulating on the window. This design also causes the window to fog in temperatures below 32 degrees and not clear properly. The vents also do not angle to the outer edges of the windows. This could result in visibility issues and injury or death could occur. This happens when parked and when driving. This has happened on numerous occasions. When I contacted Chrysler corporation they fail to say there is a flaw. The flaw is easily seen by a visual check just by looking at the angle of the vents on the dash board.

63 Wiper problem of the 2012 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 11/08/2015

Vehicle dash power cycled, all alarms came on, gauges stopped working, a/c quit, windows will not work, windshield wipers will not turn off, turn signals quit, cruise quit, power doors will not open, radio/entertainment system failed. "no bus" displayed on evic (dash). This has happened at startup and while driving streets or highway speeds. Pulling battery cables off to reset does not work. Problem just seems to clear up on its own.

64 Wiper problem of the 2012 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 10/04/2015

Myself, the driver and my wife were (riding in the passenger seat), with my son 2 year old sitting in his car seat in the middle row. The current outside temperature outside was 70 degrees f . We had just drove through a small residential area going approx. 30 mph. We came to a stop light , while waiting for the light to change there was a loud pop , almost sounded like a fire cracker going off. We instantly turned around to find the rear gate window shatter. At first I thought the vehicle sitting behind me at the light had hit my vehicle, but when I looked he was parked nearly 8 feet away. I talk to the guy and his wife sitting behind me and he said , that it was weird it look as if the window blew out from the inside. The window just explode. Here were the current variables taking place in the car while at stop. 1. The rear defrost was not on 2. The rear side vent windows were both fully open 3. Outside temperature was a comfortable 70 degrees f. Now as for the after math there¿s not really much to tell other than the window shattered(completely gone) and glass all over the place including right next to my sons car seat. The focal point of the break seemed to be located at near dead center. I¿ve just contacted Chrysler about this and I am going tomorrow to see what they say. When I googled this problem I found a handful of town and country from 01 to 13 with this problem. But they tell me on the phone this is not a common thing and will need fca dealer to look at it , which is fine my only concern is they fix the issue, because I can replace a window but this does not solve the underling problem. Had there been people in the 3rd row seating what would have happen to them? this vehicle (minivan) was purchased to be used as our family vehicle and now sadly I am worried to drive with my two year old son in it. Hopefully a resolution can be made.

65 Wiper problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 09/24/2015

Yesterday while driving in town my engine stalled, and the horn started blaring. Not honking or alarm sound, but solid blaring. My wipers turned on high, and the windshield wash started spraying all over. Front and rear wash and wipers. My reverse lights were on, even though the vehicle was in park. Also, the fan inside the van for the heater/ac isn't working. This spell lasted 3-5 minutes. Afterward, I was able to restart the van and continue on my way. Today, the same thing happened, shortly after starting the vehicle. 2 of the 3 times happened while I was driving on the street, approx 25-30 mph.

66 Wiper problem of the 2014 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 09/04/2015

I was driving on highway and it was raining. My windshield wipers were on but then started acting funny. They were going off the side of my car, going very slow, only going 1/2 way. They were going so hard that I could feel it in my brakes. My windshield broke and they stopped working. It was raining so hard I couldn't see anything and had to make an emergency stop on the side of the highway. I had the car towed to the dealership and they told me the fuse blew and that the linkage wrapped around something and blew the motor and cracked my windshield. I called the manufacturer but they said that it was out of my warranty period. This is a 2014 that I just purchased brand new last year. I work an hour away so my car does have 42k miles but it shouldn't do this. I have a video of what my window wipers were doing when they were acting funny. This video shows clearly there was no crack in my windshield at that time.

Failure Date: 07/29/2015

I took my car in for a recall on an ignition win module recall. The car was given back to me with several electrical issues and is now very unsafe to drive. Dealer replaced the part 4x now says its my issue!! my car was working properly when it was given to the dealer and was not returned to me in the same condition. The dealer experienced and witnessed this issue and says they cant find anything wrong with it. The only way they will help me is if I pay. My car will randomly light up the dash like I just turned it on, wipers go on by themselves, I have no dials on the dash they all bottom out to zero so I have no idea how fast im going, my turn signals and head lights go on and off, even in the dark! my car doesnt register in park so my doors wont open. After I take the key out it will light up as if key is in it and its not. Not safe for driving but I have no other options at this point! attached is a link to show a video of just a small bit of the issues with my van since part replacement. . Read more...

69 Wiper problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 07/20/2015

We bought our 2008 Chrysler town and country in may of 2014 used from kunes Ford antioch illinois. The first time I went to use my electric start, about 15 mins after car was going the van started going crazy windshield wipers/ fluid horn blaring doors lock can't use the fobik key to unlock the only way to stop it was to disconnect battery. Couple months past and it started acting to where I would go to start the car and it would just click and would t start. It has done all of the listed above numerous times but now it is getting more and more. About 3 weeks ago it did it 7 times in one week 4 of those times I had my 4 children in the vehicle. While I am driving down the street it will start to do this craziness and then it will stall. Yesterday August 4 2015 it did it twice the second time it started with wipers while driving when I got home I parked it took the key out of ignition and the van was still running and doing the wipers the doors locked and I could t get it unlocked to get my children out of the car. I have had it at a Chrysler dealer for service for 2 weeks where the service manager drove it personally he was able to get it to do the same thing to him. I had my vehicle returned after two weeks charged $235 dollars and was told good luck to you we have no clue what's causing it. I have been in contact and complaining to Chrysler which I now have a case manager who could only tell me to take it to dealership while its in process to have it ran for codes which I did yeaturday and was laughed at but the service guys. I am at my wits end. This is the car we purchased for our family to be safe in but instead I am driving a death trap and no one has an answer or wants to help. Someone needs to do something about this this is a serious problem. I just googled it and found tons of complaints about same thing. This is an issue for sure!! please help!!!.

70 Wiper problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 07/18/2015

2008 model year Chrysler Town & Country, approximately 138500 miles. Two separate incidents so far, one day apart. The first incident occurred while stopped at a stop light on July 18, 2015. The vehicle tried to lurch forward (foot firmly on brake pedal, no pressure on gas pedal) and the horn blared intermittently with no user input. The second incident occurred stopped in a parking lot on July 19, 2015. As the driver was exiting the vehicle, the horn began to fire in rapid, short bursts with no pressure on the steering wheel. The wipers activated, and the wiper fluid nozzles began spraying fluid. The air conditioning system also remained on with the key fully removed shortly before the incident, which is not intended behavior nor is it a feature of the vehicle in question. These problems are symptoms of tipm failure, and relate to the current NHTSA action number dp14004. I no longer feel safe driving my own car. I can't guarantee it will sit still in a parking lot, even without the key in the ignition.
