Recently purchased this vehicle and after a week and a half, noticed that my car is not gearing correctly on its own and at times decelerates when trying to accelerate. Also when shifting vehicle from park, reverse, drive, etc. . . It makes a jump with a loud noise.

After driving the vehicle for 30-45 a clunking noise begins in the left front, which gets louder the longer the vehicle is driven during one driving period. After parking the vehicle long enough for it to cool down, the problems starts again. Took vehicle to mechanic who said was common problem but need to take to dealer for correct diagnosis - after 3 days the dealer determine rack & pinion needed replaced. I bought this car new & drive 90-95% of the time on the highway. Also, when braking the car shimmies and shifts. They state this is not included in the power train warranty. My previous vehicle was a 2008 Dodge with 110,000 miles on it at trade-in, I drove more in-town driving with it & it never needed any kind of repair.

The only problem I have is that the engine sounds like a pea thrasher when its started on cold morning. (it sounds like a lifter that has lost its prime). Also, the transmission shifts hard, surges (over revs) when coming to s atop, and at times when its down shifting while going down a hill, it slams into lower gear. . There are additional body sounds that I haven't addressed yet. I was told by mechanics and service tech's that this was a common sound from my size engine. The have ran updates, yet the noises are still there. I mentioned that at idle with the headlights on, if I was to power any of the windows, the headlights dim and then engine drops from approximately 950 rpm to below 500 and stalled the engine. . . . Updated 04/11/13.

Tl- the contact owns a 2008 Dodge Avenger. The contact stated that the drivers side window was making a abnormal noise. The contact mentioned that the window fractured within the drivers side door. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who repaired the vehicle but the parts repaired or replaced were unknown. Two years after the initial repair, the failure recurred and the drivers side window fractured into the door paneling. In addition, the vehicle was difficult to shift from park. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000. Djr.
