Engine Cooling System problems of the 1996 Dodge Caravan

Seven problems related to engine cooling system have been reported for the 1996 Dodge Caravan. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Engine Cooling System problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2003

Pedestal connected to rocker arm which is connected to cylinder head broke for no reason. Since it is all one piece, it all had to be replaced at a great cost. Warranty gold extended warranty would not cover it as they said it was a well known problem with this engine. Dodge denies there have been any complaints.

2 Engine Cooling System problem

Failure Date: 08/07/2000

Consumer was traveling about 70mph on highway and without prior warning lost power steering/ all belt driven accessories/ water pump pulley flew off,and vehicle started to vibrate.

3 Engine Cooling System problem

Failure Date: 08/27/1999

With out warning the vehicle over heated. My wife called the dealer. They said not to drive it . Later the husband check car to confirm that the fan were not turning. The vehicle is going to dealer to get relay replaced. Also when the engin is running it has a valve knock.
