4 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2010 Dodge Caravan

Failure Date: 09/19/2014

The car started shutting off in the middle of an off ramp or just going down a street or coming to a stop. Left me without power steering or brakes. Very scary. I have taken it into the dealer and at first they said it was a gunky throttle, but paid for it, brought it home and it died again that same day. Mechanic took it out and he said he was going 30 miles an hour and it died on him and he almost wrecked my car. No codes are showing or no check engine light, so they have not been able to figure out what is going on with it. Plus the transmission slams into my front end if I am going normal speed and come to a stop at the bottom of my hill and told them about this last year and was told that was normal for that car(I don't think so). I am at a loss and on a fixed income. Where do I go from here?.

8 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2005 Dodge Caravan

Failure Date: 08/03/2006

While driving, my Caravan looses all engine power and almost stalls. Took it to the dealer, but since there is no check engine light or code in the system they cant find the fault. This has been going on for over three months. It's sporadic and puts me in a dangerous situation because I lose all steering and brake control ,I travel on main roads @55mph. Also, sometimes when I start it up it will idle for a few minutes then either surge to a higher rpm or choke to the point of stalling.

Failure Date: 09/10/2005

2002 Dodge Caravan will stall at high rate of speed - usually without warning. No engine lights come on indicating engine has turned off. Realize engine off when no response occurs with pressing throttle. Must coast to side of road to stop. Vehicle will often not start for at least 20 minutes - engine will not turn over, no check engine light will appear. Vehicle has stalled at 62 mph and even at lower speeds on all types of ground elevation. Very intermittent stalling. Engine will also not turn over when sitting over night in driveway or just when eating in a restaurant. Extremely unsafe to drive as will stall in intersections, or on highway typically without warning. A few times car jerked at high rate of speed then loss of power occurred.

11 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2003 Dodge Caravan

Failure Date: 03/08/2005

I manage a fleet that contains 13, 2003 Dodge Caravans. So far 5 of the 13 vans has had problems with the engine oil sensor. All the problems have occurred between 16,000 and 18,000 miles. The dealer doesn't seem to want to do anything proactive about changing out the other sensors on the other 8 vehicles. I called corporate and they took the same stance, and suggested I contact NHTSA. The problem happens when the car is being driven, all of a sudden the engine oil light will come on. The driver doesn't know if the engine is getting oil or not. Sometimes shutting off the engine and turning it back on turns off the light, and sometimes it doesn't. Since this has happened to a high percentage of my fleet, I believe it should be looked into.

14 Check Engine Light On problem of the 1998 Dodge Caravan

Failure Date: 06/03/2003

While passing a tractor trailer on rt 422 west of pottstown without warning my rmp's shot up and I lost power. My check engine light came on. I pulled off the shoulder of the highway. The transmission was slipping and not shifting correctly. I was able to get my Caravan to quigley motors which is the local Dodge dealership. The diagnosis was 3rd gear was totally destroyed and they found alot of metal fragments in the pan. It's going to cost me $2500. To fix it. The Chrysler corporation needs to acknowledge that there is a well documented problem with this transmission and should rectify the situation. It is my first Chrysler vehicle and it will probably will be my last. The service that I received at quigley motors was horrendous. My van was there an entire week before they could get it in to give me a repair estimate. 5 star service??? I don't think so!.
