I have received a recall notice 3 times. I have contacted the dealer nemours times trying to resolve the issue. They are telling me that parts are not available. Also I have replaced the breaks 4 times the first time was at 17,659 miles. I also had to replace the upper cooling lines. I just noticed that the lower cooling pipe is rusting very bad to the point of failure. We had trouble with the electronics since the purchase of the van. We purchased the van brand new. The doors were locking by there self the heating/cooling controls had to be replaced. I would like to resolve these issues.

The dealer just smiles, this does not seems to be very reliable. Any other type complaints files with this type unit????? I replaced the belt on sept 2003, the dealer did the tensioner & belt @31k in 2005. I again did the belt on 03/31/07. The dealer did the tensioner @44k , 05/02/2007. This is my daughters van, a school teacher, drive to & from schools for the most part I have through last tensioner & the belts that I did. So if she or I plans to go on a trip, we must either replace the tensioner & drive belt or carry one with us. Now on my 2001 Caravan with over 60k I still have the some tensioner & drive belt. Duh??????? I need help with this. The dealership is not going to do anything.

6 Engine Cooling System problem of the 1997 Dodge Caravan

Failure Date: 05/30/2005

Transmission: contact states vehicle had 28,000 miles when transmission went out. The transmission was rebuilt, and again at 50,000 the transmission went out, the transmission was again rebuilt. At about 70,000 the transmission failed again. Transmission service mechanic stated that these vans needed to be equipped with another cooling system. The transmission was rebuilt and another cooling system installed. Engine: contact states the oil warning light comes on even when the vehicle is full of oil. Three different mechanic shops said there is not enough oil pressure to keep oil on the bearings.

7 Engine Cooling System problem of the 1997 Dodge Caravan

Failure Date: 05/10/2004

I bought this van new in 1997 just after buying the van there was ticking noise coming from the engine I feel it is the lifters but dealership says no it was the fuel purge valve. The noise countinues to get worse and I am sure the noise is the lifters when I change the oil to 10w-30 the noise goes away. The oxygen sensor was replaced at approx 50k miles. The van has recently been in the shop for the transmission two or three time since November 2003 aprox. 90,000 miles on it. The transmission was hanging up in second gear when Dodge retuned to me the transmission shuttered while driving. Vehicle is now in the shop for the transmission again it is leaking from the output shaft seals and while in park when starting the vehicle the van jerks foward like the trasmission is still engaged. This all happens while in park. Sometimes when the vehicle is shifted from drive to park if the accelorator is pressed the vehicle jumps / jerks foward this seems to be a safety issue as my wife and I have three children that sometimes walk in front of the van to get in when we go off as a family. My check engine light came on just hours before I returned to the dealer for transmission service and it is the egr valve failure that caused the ckeck engine light to come on. The dealership tried to put the transmission off as that but I am also a mechanic the egr valve has nothing to do with the transmissionacting as if it is engage although it is acually in park. This is not good practice to lie about a serious problem with the vehicle. Also the transmission leak was caused from the first removal of the transmission and Chrysler warranty department said the leak would not be covered this is also very digusting when you remove an axle the seal should be replaced before you reinstall the transmission. The dealer is still trying to find out what is wrong with my transmission. The water pump has failed and also the cooling fan relay failed for the engine cooling system.

10 Engine Cooling System problem of the 1998 Dodge Caravan

Failure Date: 07/03/2003

On my way home from the dealership I heard a noise in the front end when I arrived home I called a mechanic the next day. He looked at my van on that Monday to find the stabilizer bar broke and zippity strip to the strut which was also bad. The dealer let me drive 180 miles with my son in the vehicle, and the front end was like this. The following week I was driving down the road and white smoke started to come from the vents so I returned to the mechanic and paid $105. 00 to have freon with dye ran through my system to find the evaporator was bad and needed replaced, which would cost at least $860. 00. Then at 36 days of ownership and only 64000 miles the constant velocity joint is bad and a new transaxle is going to have to be put in this week. I have called the dealership where it was purchased and all they can say is were sorry we got the vehicle in 2 days prior to my purchase and was never inspected, there money was more important than me and my son. I then called the daimler Chrysler corporation where they were rude and said there is no recalls on your vehicle theres nothing we can do for you. I know from some research there has been a big problem with the evaporators on Chrysler products. Please help me I do not know what else to do. This is the van I will be driving my two sons to school in, I starting to wonder how safe we will be.
