September 7, 2015, was entering interstate, car continued to accelerate with accelerator depressed, pressing on brake was minimally functional, managed to get car on offramp and to parking lot, however brakes were extremely hot and brake light was on. Turned off the ignition, and restarted car. Accelerator was still depressed so turned car off. Came back after two hours and car functioned normally. Took car to Dodge service repair, showed a code p2299, brake pedal position-accelerator position, and code c0021 brake booster performance. Mechanic cleared codes, stated that handicapped hand controls were engineered improperly and allowed both brakes and accelerator to be used at same time. Service manager stated they had never heard of a wireless throttle body control problem and that I was the first to complain. Later stated that several other hand control units they had worked on functioned improperly. It was extremely evident they were covering a stuck throttle body problem that has been seen by a number of non-Dodge authorized mechanics.

The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time to provide the part to do the repair. While driving approximately 40 mph, the engine seized twice and the steering and brakes seized. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, but was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

I was notified in early June, 2015 about a safety recall #r03/NHTSA 14v-373 and directed to contact a dealer about this recall. I did so several times and was told to call back later because parts were not available. I called again on 12/14/15 and was put on a wait list of 40+ people to get this fix done. Again I'm told that Chrysler is not sending out the parts. Looks like slow-walking it to me. I formally request that Chrysler be punished for this lack of concern for safety.

I complained to dealer within the first year I purchased (2009) about my car cutting off while driving. I had it checked, nothing found. This only happened once in a while and progressively got worse. By the time I had recall notice in August of 2014 this happened quite often. I have driven a mile and car would cut off up to 5 times!!! sometimes I can go several miles and it not happen but its so bad now its pretty much every time I drive. When this occurs I cannot control steering or brakes. I had to rent a car to go out of town this past week. I pick my granddaughter up from school every day and I have nothing else to drive. I have contacted dealer many times who just put me off. They give me phone numbers for Chrysler who never answer. I am sure the condition of my car is more critical than most of the recalls. There will be an accident. I think I should be provided with something safe to drive until my car is fixed. I am on disability, on a fixed income and cannot afford to rent or buy a car. Please help me. All I get is the run around and put on hold!.
While driving at 55 mph, my van all of a sudden turned off. I lost all power steering and struggled to get the van off the road. Once I got it off the road, I was able to start the vehicle and drove about 2 miles. The vehicle died a second time as I was getting ready to turn onto the street in which I live. My speed at that time was around 20 mph. I pulled into the carwash, where I was able to start the vehicle again, and then drove home. I went aprox. 1 mile that time. We parked the van and as my husband was getting out of the driver side, he strongly smelled something electrical burning. I went over to the driver side and smelled the same smell. The very next day I left in my van around noon and within a quarter of mile my van died four times. I turned around and drove a quarter of a mile back, with the van dying three more times. I finally made it home and informed the dealership of the problem. Within 2 hours they brought me a rental. It has been exactly two weeks that I have been without my van and they are unable to fix it as of now. I can't help but believe that my van is having the exact same issues as the other recalled 2010 Dodge Caravans. I have the exact same testimonies as some of the other people that actually have a recall on their Dodge Caravan. Please help! this vehicle was just bought on 11-17-2014 thanks in advance.
Tl-the contact owns a 2010 Dodge Caravan. The contact stated that the engine started independently. The contact mentioned that the remote car starter might be the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 14,400. Djr.
Pulled vehicle out of garage and shortly after fire started to come up out of the dash. Complete loss. Called fire department to try to put the fire out but it spread in a matter of minutes. . This was not my car but my mother in laws.

The contact owns a 2001 Dodge Caravan. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate. Immediately after, the vehicle decelerated and before coming to a complete stop the engine light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the VIN was not included in recall NHTSA campaign id number: 03e045000 (equipment). The approximate failure was 135,000.
The engine in our 2008 Dodge Mini van will intermittently surge when at a stop with your foot on the break or when in park. This has continued to plague us for 3 years now with the latest incident occurring sept. 7th, 2014.
The van stopped running leaving the car with no power to any system and had to turn the key back to the on position to regain power. This has happened 3 times in the past month.
I 've had multiple times that this has happen mostly at slow speeds. I would be going along and hit a hole or bump of some sort and I would lose the power steering, thus the engine would be dead! lucky it was always at low speed, hate to know what would happen at a faster speed. Anyway I got a recall notice about that same time, and have been in 3 times to get it fixed but to no avail. I was in just April 2, 2015 and the dealer checked who knows what, but they told me I had to call a 800 number and talk to who ever. So I have tried to call 3 times the 1st times I was on the line for 2hrs and 20mins, the second time almost 3hrs, and the 3rd time 4hrs 25mins. . . All I get is "thank you for holding, your call is important to us, will be answered by the next available representive" and that comes on every minute with no results. I want the part fixed. What are my options if any??? the dealer tells me I have to get Chrysler to ok the fix, but how do you do that if they don't answer my calls?? thanks much.
Only had van less than 2 years went to store came home turned van off but then decided to go out again tried to start van would not start tried 4 time then it started . Went to dmv when I came out van would not start called aaa tow came and tried to start after 4 tries van started , will be taking it to dealer this week wonder what they have to say about this. I'm still paying a car note on it.
2008 Dodge Caravan, while driving at 65 mph, engine quit, all dash electronics went dead. Coasted to stop, put in park, restarted fine, continued to destination. Problem has occurred 2 previous times, once while turning a corner at or below 5mph, same result, and once at approx 20mph, again same result. Checked, and switched keys, tested ignition switch, wiring to battery / fuse box, all ok, with no excessive corrosion, or loose connections. Attempted to recreate problem by wiggling wiring, switch, keys, with no electrical failure.
Had just purchased the van days prior to the first sign of an issue. . . While driving the van, it cut off-loosing all power, on a busy highway, with my wife and children inside. . . Second and third time were the same. . . This is a major problem, what is it going to take for Dodge to recall and fix these vans. . Injuries or death. . .
When the vehicle is on, the key can be removed and the engine remains on.

I was driving to work and the van started speeding up and I was going almost 50 mph, I turned the key off, pulled over to safety and stopped. The smell was very strong. The vehicle was towed to the dealership and I was told could not duplicate concern.

While driving, a large amount of steam appeared causing me to loose visibility and pull off the road. The y connector sprung a leak and spewed liquid onto the engine. There is a technical service advisory bulletin about this from gates engineers because of high replacement demand. The heater hose assembly "y" are prone to cracking. They are now being build more robustly with 35% glass fill to ensure a stronger component. Chrysler is not issuing a recall and this is not covered under extended warranty which excludes hoses. The estimated hours to replace this part is 6 hours.
I was traveling on the freeway at speed or slightly above when my gas light went on and the van started to sputter. Then the engine light went on and my speed decreased to appx 40 mph. I immediately got to the side of the road during rush hour and cars speeding by me. It was extremely dangerous and scary. A police officer stopped to assist me and try to get me towed. I made it to the next gas station. I added gas and oil. However, due to the fact that it was shaking and not able to make it above 40 mph, I decided to have it towed home until a decision could be made about what to do. The next morning we towed to our mechanic and it was discovered that the engine dropped. The bolts that held it in failed. I am lucky. Now we have the engine back up in place and are determining what else is broken due to this failure.

If the van is really low on gas and I fill it up completely, when I leave the station, by the first or second time I stop or really slow down the van will die. It must be filled completely though. I have been a couple places to get it checked out but can't find a problem. I try and make it die on me now before leaving the parking lot.

Every time I turn on my heater and drive down the road a engine light will come on. If I leave the heater off for a few days it eventually goes off. My driver side window will act up as the door lock when the engine light is on. Another problem is the gaskets underneath the engine leaks going down the road. I know that it does have miles, but it's a well taken care car and I think you should feel safe going down the road. I have looked up these problems and there are more people with the same problems. I would never buy a Dodge.

The vehicle was then taken to the dealer for diagnosis where the failure was also confirmed by the dealer. The manufacturer was notified but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 128,000.

While driving at 50mph the traction light came on and the van became unresponsive to the accelerator. While the van began to slow the power steering stopped working making it hard to maneuver off the road, good thing I was on a rural road. This is extremely dangerous!!!.

Starting just after a year of having this van it would randomly not start. This has happened easily 50 times. Sometimes after 10 minutes it starts and then 2 times it has had to be towed. Have brought it in to the Dodge dealer we purchased it from approximately 5 times. Besides being told that they were finding nothing wrong, we were also told it was the battery. That was replaced and the problem still continued. We have a 2011 Dodge Caravan.
Driving on interstate hwy at approx 60 mph when the vehicle/engine turned off. Got to shoulder of hwy and was able to restart the vehicle.
After refueling the engine cut off and lost all power in the van while turning into a parking lot. This happens consistantly after refueling. The van will begin to shake then cut off completely. I am able to restart it again and gain full power. Resently, it cuts off after refueling and in the rain.
While parked at a stop sign the vehicle started to smoke. A fire then appeared coming out of the hood. 911 was called and fire squad came. Within 5 minutes the entire front of the car was engulfed in flames. Fire extinguishers were used but it could not put out the fire. Fire truck came and by this time the entire vehicle was engulfed in flames. Firemen used water to finally control the fire. Fire restarted and had to be put out again and eventually the fire was completely extinguished. It was perhaps only 10 minutes for the fire to start, spread, and completely and utterly destroy the van. Because of the intensity, quickness of the fire, and the difficulty in putting it out, it appears to be a fuel related fire. I read that Dodge had fuel line "o" rings that could be defective and that could have been the cause. I called Dodge headquarters and explained the event. I am still waiting for a call back.
The contact owns a 2010 Dodge Caravan. The contact stated that while driving 5 mph and attempting a u-turn, she noticed fire coming from the front end of her vehicle. The fire department was contacted to extinguish the fire. The vehicle was towed to the contact's home and was not taken the to dealer. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure and current mileage was 86,405.
On several occasions the van has shut off when driving. I have to go to the side of the road to a complete stop and then restart the van. I have had it in to several mechanics to try to find out what the issue is and have been told to bring it in when it happens again, which always seems to be when I am on the highway or after hours. I received a recall notice for this issue (l25/NHTSA 14v-373) and have called the dealer several times and was told the part was not available and they would call me as soon as it became available. The last time I called I was told they no longer are making the part of this year vehicle. My question is, that if I have an accident and am injured or killed because this issue has been unresolved who should I let my family know to contact, for damages? I don't feel we should be forced to buy a different vehicle just because the corporation has failed to make sure this vehicle is safe. Please advise.
While driving, the engine just suddenly died, stopped working leaving a 1. 7 ton vehicle with no steering or brakes, it was a miracle I rolled to a stop and did not caused an accident it happened a few more times, this vehicle is a ticking time bomb, we need to file a class action lawsuit against Dodge-Chrysler, records show this happened to a lot of people quite a few times.
The problem is autonomous acceleration. When my car is moving slowly at idle speed while I'm pulling into or out of a parking space or my home garage and I apply pressure to the steering wheel to guide the car, the engine rpm speed surges by about 400 rpms causing the car to suddenly accelerate forward or backward, depending on the gear selection. This has caused a number of near accidents, including nearly striking children at an elementary school when I was picking up my granddaughter. I reported the problem to the local Dodge dealer, but the dealer found no problem after checking the car. Yet, the problem persisted intermittently, but I learned to "live with it. " however, the autonomous acceleration is now suddenly growing more frequent. My fear is that this autonomous acceleration problem is a precursor to someday my having a runaway car that results in serious injury or death.
