Wipers, lights, horn,door locks all seemed to go off went no warning wipers start spraying fluid by itself. Could not get to stop windows would not work, had to pull horn fuses to make horn stop blowing disconnect battery to make sure it would start to have it taken to be looked at very disappointed in vehicle only 81,500 miles on it.

Strong gas smell while driving and at stop. Lights turn on and off at will.

I was driving and out of no where my hazard switch came on. Confused I pushed it and it continued to stay on, and my blinkers flashed like they should. So I turned them off and the switch light stayed on. Also, every light available lights up on my dash panel when I start the van. But only every now and then. My O2 sensor has been changes 2 times but the check engine light for it stays on. As well as my abs light.

I had this van 2005 Caravan for about 5 years and past year I had 3 issues, one of them is that my lights turned off right in the middle of highway and it was very scary , I fixed it by replacing the light switch and now is ok but it should be looked into becouse there is more incidents of that type on other Caravans as I can see,second is my airbag sensor light comes ,stays ,goes away and then comes back up as it wills ,I did not fix it since I dont know how to but will try to get it done as a recall, third one is my fuel pump is leaking at a same point where I saw pictures and complaints by other owners so I would like just to add my own complaint,I will replace my fuel pump since I doubt I can get recall in near future but hopefully keep the receipt if it gets approved so I can try to get my money back,thank you for your consideration.

While driving in rain storm with cruise control,wipers,lights,and radio on power to controls would turn off. Engine was still running and systems came back on after turning off radio, lights for awhile.

My husband and I purchased a Dodge Caravan from a dealer and since purchasing it, we have had nothing but problems. Our door lock system has stopped working in which my mother who is disabled and can only be put on one side of the van related to her stroke, was unable to exit the vehicle. The locking mechanism wouldn't let us open the door and we live in texas. We had to keep the car running until we were able to transfer her to the other door. We now can only put her in on her "bad" side which puts her at risk for injury (and us). After that we had problems that started with the gages bobbing up and down and the interior lighting system is not working right half the time. It also has the anti-lock brake system light come on and then the front end shakes. We have replaced the alternator, grounding wires, checked fuses and battery and cables. Nothing has worked, but there is no check engine light to get codes from until the car was at an intersection and died!!!!! now it is frequently dying when we are at a stop for red lights, stop signs and . . . Recently it died while I was yielding for a left turn. I have had several car accidents and I nearly got t-boned at this intersection. Even when the car dies, it would usually start right up until a month ago. Now it may start up right away or it may not start for 15-30 minutes after it dies. In texas we need the air conditioning. I am now refusing to put her in something I consider a "death trap". I am now putting this down in writing because I have now a code that says it is the body control module. From reports, there are hundreds of these same vans with this same problem. It needs to be recalled as it isn't an isolated problem. And now if this van dies at a critical traffic maneuver and I or my husband or mother or children become injured, we will look into legal action.

Driving at night recently , lights turned off, worked switch back and forth until came back on did not crash but was very alarmed, returned safely home. Please check if there is recall for this problem,also knock from suspension occurs.

I was driving my Dodge Caravan 2005 on the freeway and the exterior lights kept turning off and the instrument panel where the speedometer is would too. I was scary and dangerous had my three children and pregnant wife with me at the time. We could have been seriously injured.

Wipers come on and stays on without being turned on bright lights inoperable, low beams stay on door locks by themselves.

I began having trouble with my right front window not rolling down. Then head lights began to flash on and off. I disconnected the battery first negative then positive removed ecm and cleaned all pins on ecm and the socket it plugs into using electronic parts cleaner. I waited for the socket and pins to dry before replacing the ecm and reconnecting the power. Problem resolved itself for a while. Now all problems came back and the battery light came on. Replaced the battery and alternator. The problem went away for a week now all problems came back and vehicle is unable to be driven. I believe there is a problem with the ecm's made for this vehicle. There are many reports of people having the same issues and no recalls. I believe that the ecm is causing many problems since all 3 issues are controlled by the ecm unit.

Tl- the contact owns a 2001 Dodge Caravan. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the head lights failed and an unknown light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed the front modular needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 170,000. Upon starting the Dodge Caravan se 2010 I closed both power passenger doors with my children in safety belts, upon entering the drivers side my child asked me to turn on the overhead lights so that she could find something that dropped on the floor with the drivers door opened, and the vehicle running I turned on the overhead lights only to have both power passenger doors open on their own. I was able to replicate this error a number of times under similar conditions, and am unable to pin point a cause. This could be a large safety defect. What if this was to happen while traveling at highway speeds ? this issue could cause a minor passenger to be ejected from the vehicle. I ask for a recall / investigation.

2008 Dodge Caravan sxt, experiencing wipers with fluid coming on randomly with lights flashing, doors locking and unlocking and horn blowing erratically. I have also experienced the tpms,abs and traction control lights coming on and off while driving.

Neither high or low beam lights come on. When I turn them on, they will blink three times, and nothing else. Had two mechanics work on it, but couldn't figure it out.

8/24 - the van was parked in a parking lot with my husband & son sitting in it. Another driver came to claim their nearby Dodge Caravan & beeped open his van, at that point our wipers started going full speed & the fluid shot up. It stopped for a minute then started going full strength again with the horn going non-stop, the lights all started flashing, & the doors all locked. The key fob was in the ignition but in the off position. My husband tried unlocking the doors with the key fob (pulled out of the ignition), tried using the indoor unlock button but all was unsuccessful. We were able to manually open the doors from the inside. All of this kept going for about 5 mins until I climbed in the back to open the side doors to air out the car & get my 2 year old out. When I manually unlocked the driver side back door everything stopped. We were able to drive home without further incident that day. 8/25 - we were driving back to chicago when the wipers did the same thing but nothing else. 8/26 - I was driving to work when all the doors unlocked & all the warnings on the control panel lit up. I was able to pull over to the side of the road and when I started driving again the rpm started going crazy like it couldn't shift gear. I pulled over again, turned the van off & let it sit for a few minutes. I was able to continue my drive to work & got home ok.

My wife park the van inside the garage, turn off the radio, engine and lights. She open the drivers door and see flames and smoke coming by the parking brake handler. And all the lights on the van were on. She remove the kids from the van and my son call 911. Police and fire department came and extinguish the fire, remove the van from the garage and check it and found possible electrical malfunction . Check the van today 8-24 2013 and found that the fire start at the head light switch. Dim switch ok and mirror switch ok. The fire damage the left side of the dashboard, windshield, sun visor and celling. I have this van since new, never have a problem before. And never see a problem like this.

Every time is different. One day the horn, left daylight, right blinker, right stop light don't work; next day all work fine, then next day: horn, blinkers, light stop working again. . . . Chek up fuses, changed bulbs . And this goes on and off. . . . . .

While driving home last night going down a country road doing 50 mph, my low beams went complete out and I almost wrecked my van. Once I got stopped and my heart returned to beating normal I found that only the high beams worked. I have since changed the relays around in the pms/fuse box under the hood, and the low beams still don't work. I had changed out both headlamps less then a year ago, so I am sure that the problem is not that both low beams went out on the lamps at the same time. I have read online that this problem has happened to many others owning this vehicle. This vehicle was purchased new from the dealer in July of 2005.

My Dodge 2005 Caravan lights go out while driving , lights stay on with key out ,inside and out. I see that there is many complaints on line , why is there no recall on a huge safety item which is obviously a defect.

Head lights on van randomly go off. Sometimes toggling the switch is effective in getting the lights back on, sometimes not. This has happened while driving. However, mechanic can find nothing wrong unless lights are defective while in the shop. The van goes for months without issue, then without warning lights go out.

Exterior lights on my 2006 Dodge grand Caravan go on and off intermittently at night. This happens every night and has been happening for about a month or so.

When driving there is no noticeable difference between high and low beams- if anything the lows seem brighter- also, I get flashed a lot by oncoming drivers when my lights are on low beams.

I have a '05 Dodge Caravan that has the headlamps shutting off during morning and evening use. Sometimes, the lamps blinks on then off, or several blinks. I have had to pull off the road when this occurs, flipping the switch to the off/on position. Sometimes the switch activates the lamps, in others, as in this morning, the lamps stayed off and I risked being pulled over b the local police/sheriff personal.

Headlamp/parking light failure - parking light was out and car needed inspection for mass. Brought car in for service and all the garages are telling me it's going to cost between $500-$700 for fix a $1. 50 part. The light was new and the directional worked. Later on as I was seeking more info and help the headlamp went on the passenger side. The high beam could be put on but would turn off the drivers side headlamp/high beam. Parking light on drivers side would remain on and directional worked.

Lights go out by themselves , parking lights & dash lights wont turn off. Suspect it to be a defective light switch.

While driving the vehicle, the instrument panel shuts off without warning and for no known reason. Dodge told us that it was a short in the wiring in the dash that caused the computer to shut down. The technicians insisted that the problem would be impossible to find, especially since it could not be replicated on demand. This has continued to happen periodically, most recently in January 2014, when the computer went out, shutting down the instrument panel and the wheels on the passenger side of the vehicle. The driver's side continued forward, which pushed the vehicle into a curb, flattening two tires and damaging those respective rims. Although no one was injured, had there been a vehicle next to the van, as opposed to a high curb, the defect in the vehicles wiring and computer would have caused a collision. There is never any warning prior to the electrical and instrument panel going out. There is no known trigger that causes this problem. It is not triggered by going over a bump, driving at any particular speed, stopping or accelerating. I wanted to report this, because a witness (who happened to be a police officer) to the most recent incident advised us that this is a known and common issue in Dodge Caravans built in the late 1990s/early 2000s.
