Dodge Caravan owners have reported 4 problems related to tail light switch (under the exterior lighting category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Dodge Caravan based on all problems reported for the Caravan.
The tail lights are randomly working and not working on both sides. One minute both the brake and turn light works, the next one or another or both don't work. They are led modules that require the entire assembly be replaced. The van only has 49,700 miles on it. To replace the assembly and the wire harness costs $700 plus labor each side. An independent repair shop (not Dodge) confirmed that it is the tail light assemblies and not a computer module or switch. The third brake light and the reverse lamps work perfectly. It does not matter if you have your running lights on or if they are off. There is no warning that they are not working. Even the turn signal indicator on the dash will be blinking normally then all of a sudden blink fast (indicating light not working) then go right back to blinking at normal speed. The turn signal indicators are actually blinking and indicating correctly when the turn/brake light is working and when it is not but there is no warning. Then there are times that the lights stay on even after the vehicle has been turned off and will randomly come on then flicker off. I found that heat (outside temperatures) plays a role. The warmer (over 50 degrees) it is, the more apt they are to quit working. Led lights are supposed to last longer than standard bulbs but these are not. I contacted both a dealer and Dodge corporate and was told "we're sorry, but we haven't had any complaints". When something this expensive to replace goes bad on a 2 year old vehicle without any warning and randomly works/doesn't work, it becomes a major safety issue. I am waiting for replacement parts to come in but it is taking 2 weeks and in the mean time, I have to drive never knowing when the turn/brake lights are going to work and when they are not.

Most times, when I try to turn on my headlamps at night they do not turn on when I turn the switch. It usually takes me anywhere from 10 to 20 turns to get the headlamps to turn on and sometimes they will come on only for a few seconds and then turn back off. Often, while I am in motion at night, the headlights will simply turn off for no apparent reason but I have noticed that it seems to happen more when the alternator or fans start or when I am at a low rpm and then I have to pull over and try to get the lights back on. I have also noticed that when the vehicle is parked and all switches are off, the lights will turn on and off randomly. I have tried to locate a fuse and/or relay several times but do not know where to find those. . . They are not in the fuse relay center under the hood. This problem only effects the headlamps, the tail lights, front marker lights, brake lights, and turn signals all work fine
I have also found numerous posts on different websites complaining about the same exact problem.

Closed all doors using the key fob and went to church. The rear sliding passenger door would not open with the key fob. Got inside the vehicle and you can not manually pull the lever up. This is a safety hazard. It appears the passenger door is beginning to malfunction also. Key fob won't open it, but you can open manually. Tires wear out quickly in the front. I also lost a tail light on the highway. It just separated from the vehicle. I have noticed the same thing beginning to happen to the other tail light. Dodge is making a killing on these. They are approximately 113 dollars!!! now my air conditioner has cold air , but not blowing.

Dodge Caravan left tail light falls off when driving. If one can see your brake lights they can hit you. And I have found out it is a very commom. And not cheap to replace.
