2 Turn Signal problem of the 2008 Dodge Caravan

Failure Date: 09/12/2014

When clicking off my high beams, my wipers came on. I was unable to shut them off. At the same time my high beams, turn signals and rear wiper stopped working. While my front wipers were going non-stop despite being shut off, the washer fluid did not work (front and back). When I took it to my garage I was told the tipm had to be replaced but it was currently on national back order and they didn't know when they could get their hands on one. For the time being I have had to make due with disconnecting the battery for 7-10 minutes and then all systems work again, I am not sure how long this will work for but currently the only option.

3 Turn Signal problem of the 2008 Dodge Caravan

Failure Date: 08/08/2013

On a highway ramp entering the highway the horn on my van started to blow on & off, at the same time the windshield wipers were wiping & the spray was spewing at me at high speed. The lights blinked on and off & the door locks were going up & down. The radio was blasting as well. I came to a stop before entering the highway to try & figure things out but nothing worked. For 5-8 minutes I sat there in fear it would catch on fire. I put in in park, turned it off & took the keys out. It continued to do all the activity with the keys in my hand! when it stopped & I tried to starting it. It started & ran ok till it happened not more than 15 minutes latter on my way to the dealer. This time it lurched forward at a faster speed with everything wiping, blowing, spewing & blinking which caused me to drop it into neutral & brake to a stop in the median. This time when it became quite it wouldn't start again & was towed to the dealer. They saw the codes it left but couldn't determine the cause. They said they could keep it thru the weekend & try again on Monday or I could take it & bring it back when it did it again. This is the car I drive my family in all the time. Myself & 4 young girls plus friends. Although I am thankful to have only had to pay for towing I am very upset that they couldn't find the cause. I am essentially driving a ticking time bomb. This could happen again at any time, anywhere & with a car full of kids! I have said from day 1 that the van had electrical problems & no one took me serious. The only thing the dealer found that raised a red flag was that the windshield wipers come on when you use the turn signal - this has been a chief complaint all along. My family has had Dodges for a long time, have been loyal customers & employees. We expect better from a company we've grown to depend on & refer others to for their next vehicle.

5 Turn Signal problem of the 2003 Dodge Caravan

Failure Date: 11/21/2008

2003 Dodge grand Caravan accident was caused due to some type of failure with the turn signals. When the left directional was used to signal a lane change the right directional turns on instead. The car that was behind me thought I was changing lanes to the right when I was actually going left. I naturally heard the clicking of my directional before moving never thinking this could happen. I need to have this checked as it happens at least a couple of times per day.

6 Turn Signal problem of the 2001 Dodge Caravan

Failure Date: 06/09/2004

Our Dodge Caravan sport has been well maintained and we've had it for 3 years and has only 35,000 miles on it. This started happening after the 30,000 mile mark. We have 2 small children and we have been very lucky that nothing has happened. We liked the Caravan because we did not hear bad things about it. But now we experienced these things and we are not alone makes me re-think of not getting a Caravan again or recommending it to people. We've run into the following problems: first item is the power door lock on the sliding door. While on the freeway, the lock would unlock and lock. Second item is the power windows on the front passenger side. I've read others who complained about it. The power window does not go up after it has gone down. An effort to giggle it up is the trick. Now it just doesn't roll up or down. Third item is the power steering. We have a family friend who also had this problem. The power steering is making clicking noise and while parking it has a loud agonizing hum. Fourth item the turn signals does not turn off automatically once the turn has been made. Taking it to the dealership, see if they have some answers.

7 Turn Signal problem of the 2005 Dodge Caravan

Failure Date: 04/25/2004

The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Caravan. The turn signal on the vehicle would not shut off after making left and right turns. The failure has occurred ever since the vehicle was purchased. The vehicle has been taken to the dealer six times for this failure, but has never been repaired. The dealer advised the contact to make wider turns. When making really wide turns (almost u-turns), the turn signal would disengage. On other occasions, it would fail to disengage automatically. The current mileage is 33,000 and failure mileage was 100. Updated 07/09/08 updated.

8 Turn Signal problem of the 1998 Dodge Caravan

Failure Date: 11/15/1999

Some part of the turn signal mechanism broke inside the steering column. Evidently, a broken piece moved into such a position as to jam the steering shaft. This occurred during a left turn at a controlled intersection from a stop. The steering jammed in a left turn position giving the feeling to the driver (my wife) that steering control had been lost. Giving the steering wheel significantly greater effort broke free the jam condition allowing us to proceed to the dealer for repair. The service writer's comment was to the effect that this was not unusual. My attitude is that it should never happen because if the driver panics, or the jam can't be broken, a serious accident can happen. I haven't heard of a repair campaign on this type of failure. Other than that instance, this van is fine in every respect. Thanks for your service.

9 Turn Signal problem of the 1997 Dodge Caravan

Failure Date: 01/01/1998

At one time, before 1960, front turn signals were white, then they changed to amber and have remained so for 40 years. I would like to have it stated that front turn signalsshall only be amber in color. Rear turn signals, also at one time they were red then the manufacturers created the 3 color tail light red for stop and tail, amber for turn and white for back-up. Unfortunately many have combined the tail and brake in to a lower cost single lamp . I would like to see the return to the amber turn signal. With the huge market we have for vehicles we have the economic power to make an impact for change. Side marker lamps. When these were required they were separate lights. Now they are integrated into the tail lamps and have wrapped around the rear structure of the vehicle and in many cases are a now a single lamp that has tail, side marker and brakes as part of the dual filament bulb. So the issue is that when this lamp burns out we may have neither tail braking or side marker. Over the years these lamps have grown smaller and less visible again a cost or design issue and ultimately a safety issue. I would like to see a minimum number of square inches for each lamp and minimum candle power. And for braking a return to the 7x difference between tail lamp/running and braking illumination. If my suggestions should be enacted it might force the manufactures to redesign their lighting systems to create some uniformity that we almost had some years ago ( about 1989 ). Headlight: SUV headlamps are not aimed low enough. They create a hazard to oncoming cars and blind the drivers of vehicles closer to the ground. The newet lamps have reduced visabilty as they are recessed and do not show very much to the side. Many headlamps are now made from a plastic that des not remain clear. The amount of light transmitted is reduced and difused. I would like to see either a return to glass or a new plastic that remins clear. T.
