The vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised the contact that they could not duplicate the failure. There were no recalls for the failure. The manufacturer was not notified. Since we had the electrical recall 11v139000. We have 3 problems since the recall. . First. The radio would not work and not turn off. It was just stuck on the "accept display. The dealer fixed that and said that it was related to the recall. This past week we had two failures. The first failure, the wipers would not turn off, heated seats did not work, turn signals didn't work and the steering wheel controls didn't respond. The dealer fixed that and said that there was moisture in the heated seats element. Last night, the radio and the steering wheel controls stopped responding we have to bring the van in again today. Two malfunctions in less than a week not good.

2005 Dodge grand Caravan - turn signal inoperative. Turn signal (left and right) will intermittently cut out. Emergency flashers and windshield wipers continue to work and fuse is functional. Turning ignition on/off sometimes fixes problem.

The ignition key will not turn. Unable to start the car. Not an electrical issue. The key physically does not turn. Happened completely randomly. Other people have suggested tapping the end of the key with a rubber mallet, but I do not trust this fix. I now have a family vehicle that I do not feel comfortable bringing my family anywhere far away in. Transporting my family was the only reason I bought a minivan.

Automatic transmission, 56,432 miles, original owner the first time it wouldn't start back up after having it off for 5 minutes. Once it was towed it started right back up (about an hour later, in the dealership parking lot). The next day after driving it about 10 miles two different times and having it on/off numerous times and then having it parked for about 45 minutes, I got in and started it no problem. Two blocks later it died completely. Again everything worked including the a/c, radio and lights with no surge in power. About 1/2 hour later when the tow truck showed up, it started without any issues. Weird thing is the lights, ac and everything else work just fine!! it doesn't even seem as if there is a drain on them. When I turn the ignition, it doesn't do anything, no clicks, no "starting", nothing!!! also both times it wouldn't start/stalled, it was on an incline. The first time was in a drive way where the front was up higher and the second time was going down a hill. And when it was started it was on a flat surface. It has been at the dealership since last night and of course it is not happening there. They did hook it up to the machine since my check engine light came on the second night when it died, but there were not any messages that came out. It has been at the dealer for 9 days, yesterday was the first day that they were able to get it to replicate the problem. They had already replaced two parts, including the fuse box. The 3rd part they are considering is on national backorder, but supposedly was sent out to the dealership. I believe the 3rd part is the main computer.

2007 Dodge Caravan ignition tumbler spins very easily and vehicle can be turned off by just tapping or bumping the bottom of the key. In my instance, we just bought this van less than a month ago and my knees bumped the keys that were attached to the key in the igntion. Subsequently the car turned off leaving me with no brakes & steering. This occurred twice just a couple days after purchasing it and it has been in the shop ever since. Luckily when this occurred, the vehicle was in a park position. Same problem was also noticed by the tech crew at the dealership on my vehicle and all the other 2007 Caravans at the dealership. Dealership replaced the ignition in my vehicle twice as well as tried manually tightening the ignition cylinder with no success. Dealership said they have no other recourse because Chrysler engineering dept. Is vowing there is nothing wrong with the parts and that it works as expected. I have gone through the various channels in the Chrysler "buyback" program and ultimately spoke with the district manager who stated they do not see any issues and no one else has complained so they will not buy back the vehicle. The suggestions I have received from the Chrysler staff said I should adjust my seat, remove extra keys from the one in the ignition and if that doesn't work purchase another vehicle for this is not their problem. Normally I like Caravans for I have owned another one for 10 years and the ignition on my old van is nothing like this one. Ultimately I would like to have some type of fix put in place for I don't think the key should be able to spin that freely. This could be a deadlyconsequence for not only would someone loose braking & steering but I wonder if the vehicle airbags would also be disabled. I would also like to warn other owners of this potentially deadly consequence not only for their safety but for those driving around them.

On this date it was the second occurrence when my 2005 Dodge Caravan lost power while I was driving down the street at about 30 miles an hour. I was able to pull over safely and immediately restarted the car. But I had no power steering or brakes. I took it to the car dealer since it happened a second time and I no longer considered it a fluke. They ran a diagnostic test and no sensor or computer recorded anything. So they told me it could be one of a thousand reasons the computer turned off the car and wait until it happened more frequently so the sensor will register it. Then if it happens more frequently they will be able to trace it. However, I am driving a car with only 10,000 miles on it that at any moment could simply stop running. I am very concerned about being rear ended by cars that don't expect a car to simply stop on the road. Also, I travel up and down a hill every day to home and back. How am I supposed to stop it without brakes? I consider this to be an accident waiting to happen. Fortunately, I was in a turn lane and no one was following right behind me the first two times.

I have had a miss fire from the engine since I bought it. Taken it back to the dealer for service and had the pcm reprogramed, trans serviced and still the problem persists. Now the check engine light is on again and the trouble code are saying bad plug-wire or coil pack. Last time it went in they said it was a bad plug and wire on cyl. 4.

When consumer put key into the ignition to crank the vehicle it made a squeaking/grinding noise. While the engine was still running black smoke came from under the hood. Was not able to turn vehicle off. Vehicle turned off automatically on its own after smoke stopped billowing. Vehicle was not taken to a dealer.

1999 Dodge grand Caravan viin: 1b4gp44g4xb816925 this van is a lemon from day 1. I have contacted Chrysler, owner of landmark Dodge in GA, mediation, arbitration, consumer action line, and any other person that would listen. This van has quit on me at least eight times. Sometimes on rural roads. Several times on a major highway. The last major incident occurred on father's day with six family members inside the vehicle. There was no warning before it quit. It would not startafterwards. We were on a busy hwy 19/41 in jonesboro. Several other times, I lost my speedometer, and could not accelerate. I have had check engine lights, leaky doors, inoperable window motors, halted intermittent windshield wipers, sluggish locks, etc. I wanted to keep my vehicle. However, it is very unsafe. I cannot afford to trade it in. That was not my intention when I purchased it.

When starting the vehicle, keys have to be turned several times in the ignition before vehicle starts. Cause unknown.

Vehicle was parked. Consumer turned the keys in the ignition, a nd vehicle caught on fire. The fire came from under the hood. Their were no problems or warnings prior to the fire. Please provide more details. Ts.

On Dec 8,2000 my wife,four children and myself were in springfield mo, approx 80 miles from our house shopping at the mall. When we finished our shopping and left the mall,we were in congested traffic at approx. 30 mph the van shut off without any type of warning or indication of a problem, the abillity to properly steer the van was lost and I luckily came to a stop at the red light almost hitting the vehicle in front of me. On Dec 30 we were on our way to springfield mo, we pulled off of the interstate to use the restrom in the mcdonalds. While pulling in the parking area the van once again shut off without any type of warning or indication that there was a problem. Once again I lost all controls and instrumentation to include the loss of proper steering ability. I almost hit the parked car to the right of me. Chrysler has refused to replace my vehicle or to refund the purchase price, so here I am with a $ 20,000 unreliable vehicle that we are afraid to drive. I am currently a senior non commissioned officer in the u. S. Army, I've been on active duty for 18 years, this is not an attempt to defraud Chrysler or an attempt to get out of a debt, this is an honest situation that is happening to honest, law abiding, hard working americans, whom strongly believe in our country and our way of life.

Upon slowing down to 10-15 mph vehicle will hesitate, and then completely stall, cause unknown. Dealer cannot identify the cause. The dealer believed the transmission failure is causing the problem and replaced it . When the problem continued the dealer replace the torque convertors, battery and finally fuel pump but the problem continued.

The coil pack caught on fire and melted.
