Electrical System Problems of Dodge Caravan - part 1

The contact owns a 2020 Dodge Caravan. The contact stated that after securing her infant child inside the vehicle, his wife started the vehicle and then exited the vehicle. After closing the door, it was discovered that all the doors had erroneously locked causing the child to become trapped inside the vehicle until her husband was able to open the door using a second key fob. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. Prior to the failure, the contact indicated that the key fob auto start feature had malfunctioned and failed to start the vehicle. The local dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 13,000.

The door locks do not work for the sliding doors or the passenger side of the vehicle. We tried to fix this issue by checking the door lock fuse out to make sure it was okay, and it was. The driver's side is the only one that locks. The passenger door lock will not push down and lock when pressed down manually. I feel this is a safety issue and I have seen that others online are having problems with their door locks not working or getting stuck and not unlocking. I don't understand why there is no recall on this issue with the 2005 Dodge grand Caravan. This is a serious safe issue on any vehicle. My sliding doors have to be manually locked and as I said, the passenger side won't lock, so it's dangerous for me to have passengers. My local Dodge dealership offered to diagnose it, but it's $125. 00 for them to just find out what's causing this if they could even do that. Clearly it is an issue of some kind since one door locks. Can you please look into this? again, I know others have had door lock issues with the Dodge Caravan. Why hasn't this been fixed and recalled already? this is very frustrating. Also, I don't remember the exact date I purchased my vehicle in June, so I've given it my best guess. Thank you for your time in reviewing this. Resolution that fixes this for myself and everyone else who is dealing with this, would be much appreciated.

Drivers sliding door won't open. It's stuck in the lock position which makes it a huge safety issue. Door worked one evening but next day went to open the door & it wouldn't open. Pressing the key fob unlock & the unlock button on the drivers door doesn't do anything. No noise or anything when pressing unlock button. From all the research I've done, it seems this is a common occurrence & should be a recall as this is a safety issue.

The contact owned a 2008 Dodge grand Caravan. The contact stated that her vehicle was in the driveway parked when a neighbor notified that the vehicle was on fire. The contact discovered that the front driver side door went up in flames. The fire department was contacted and extinguished the fire. A fire department and police report were made filed. No injuries were sustained. The fire department deemed the vehicle a totaled loss. The contact mentioned NHTSA campaign number: 10v235000 (electrical system) as a possible solution to the failure. However, the VIN was not included in the recall. No dealer was contacted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 188,000.

In two different occasions the lock actuators what bad on both rear sliding doors for the passengers side and drivers side. This is a costly problem to have and uncalled for on a reliable form of transportation. I have the understanding by talking to the maintenance manager that this is a problem for Dodge minivans. This a dangerous situation for owners due to the fact that in the event of an accident you would not be able to get your love ones out on time. At the time of the actuators going bad the passengers had to get out through the other door or through the front exit. This is indeed costly problem.

All gages are flashing with a binging sound all gages are jumping and turning signals only work when they want while parked and driving. Also driver side window buttons and locks are not working.

Tipm has failed stuck in limp mode. Caused engine light fuel issues and stalling.

Driving on freeway, at around 65mph. Vehicle shut off, lost all power, no electricity, could not turn on hazard lights. I shut off ignition turn it on again and the vehicle turn on again and I proceeded.

The 2008 Dodge grand Caravan is a lawsuit waiting to happen it somes with too many problems that I believe the creators if this vehicle knew about but put out for production any how for the love of money. Too many lives are put at risk. Im requesting a brand new car my vheicle has electrical issues that should not be common, ignition issues turn the key, car stalling, sliding door issues you would think a ghost is toiling with you its terrible, I demand some help my car wont start due to electrical concerns that I didnt cause I took good care of my vehicle but yet it still fails. This car stalled and stopped on the highway, wouldnt start on certain occasions its scary.

Bought the car used a year ago. It has 57,578 miles on speedometer. Driver side sliding door locked shut, will not open from inside, outside or remotely. Just drove in driveway and parked and it will not open. Five minutes before it opened and closed fine as we had been shopping.

Turn the key off and engine doesn't shut off. Needed to remove fuel pump fuse to stop engine.

Air condtioner started to only work on the drivers side. Everywhere else was blowing out hot air.

Back side door is locked and cannot be opened or unlocked neither manually or with fob or interior button, door is jammed shut.

Takata recall Dodge Caravan sliding door actuator when parked the sliding doors can get stuck closed or open once they are stuck if stuck open that door wont lock, and if stuck closed you can not open the door and can not unlock. I currently have both issues.

Back passenger door lock is stuck in the locked position. Nothing will unlock it. Dangerous for the passengers in the back, they can't get out on that side.

The driver side sliding donor's lock was stuck. The door wouldn't often with the key fob or manually unlocking. I pressed the fob several times trying to unlock the door. I tried manually unlocking the door again and it finally unlocked. My two and three year were in the car and I couldn't get them unbuckled from their car seats. Annoying as well as unsafe. The door now makes a buzzing/ rattling noise when I put the car in drive and the locks automatically lock.

I have 2 complaints. One is that the driver's side window doesn't always work. It works sometimes and other times does not. It's as if there might be a loose connection or something. The second is that there is a constant ticking noise in the engine. There is no sign of oil leak. I check it regularly. My thought is perhaps a valve or a belt. But I'm not sure. The vehicle still drives. It has not broken down.

I bought a 2007 Dodge Caravan, the drivers side window switch seems to be burning out not allowing me to roll the window down on the electric switch and when it does, has a hard time trying to go back up. Then my drivers side passenger van door has a button on top in the front that you can hit it and its suppose to open that side of the van door, the van door also doesn't open from the inside it has to be opened on the outside posing a dangerous issue. But the other switch opens the passenger side van door fine. My 3rd row seats don't want to stay up , they want to lay down posing safety hazards. My bearings or something sound bad, and my passenger side door has to be opened on the inside and wo'nt open on the outside.

Takata recall I'm not sure if my air bags have been made by this manufacturer but last week the passenger air bag light popped on and we have not been in any accidents lately I'm worried that this is a safety issue have not received anything interesting he mail about a recall but I am worried that this may deploy at any moment.

Fuel pump continues to stay on when vehicle is off with no key in ignition. This is causing battery drain and hard starts after jumping battery. Car also is stalling at times while in motion. I have seen a recall for other males and models of same year from mopar vehicles, such as durango. It seems to be fuel pump relay in tipm.

While driving airbag light came on with interior lights flicking on/off while driving on every occasion for last 1-2 months. Also while driving would say right rear sliding door was open with lights on while driving. Air bag light has since gone off and came back on/off but interior lights remain on at times while driving. Sometimes rear sliding door sounds like it's trying to latch. Local garage unable to find anything wrong it. I believe there is a electrical shortage that started with airbags and from reading there is a takata recall on other vehicles causing a circuit shortage like this.

I was driving at approximately 45-50 mph and all the warning lights came on and in the next second the car just lost all power. Nothing! I pulled over and it started about 5 minutes later. Having to drive an hour back home on the highway was scared and my father being a disabled vet - this is the vehicle that is used.

The fuel relay failed and the only way to replace it is to replace the entire fuse circuit board ( tipms ) , as it is soldered into the board , so instead of costing $8 for a relay it will cost $1500 to $2000 according to dealer quotes.

2012 Dodge Caravan suddenly shuts off while driving losing the ability to brake or steer, with no warning signs from the vehicle. After research, this is a common problem for Dodge Caravans resulting in serious safety concerns.

Van had engine stall while going down highway. Lost all power due to this. . Was only going about 45 so was able to maintain control and get to side of the road. Was in the rural area so traffic was light. . . Daughter and granddaughter was in van with me . . . This could have been tragic if I had been on interstate or on busy highway. . . Was told by machanic that fuel relay tipm gone out.

This is a 4. 0 engine, and will die out every time in traffic, every time (regardless of outside temperature or dampness). It will restart, but can feel it still wants to cut out, as the tachometer bounces around to 500 rpm, and sometimes almost zero, then 'catches itself' to a normal idle. This is especially concerning because I live near a curved road that drops off into a ravine, and for this reason, my wife won't drive it anymore. This problem has happened at speeds 10-40 mph. It dies out (again regardless if cold or wet outside). I can restart the vehicle, and won't die again, until the engine gets cold again (usually 3 hrs. ). It is unbelievable that once it restarts, it never happens multiple times in same occurrence. Something is telling it to shutdown, which is dangerous. No power steering and brakes have to be pushed hard (no power, and is why my wife won't drive it). I had this diagnosed at m&w service center (a highly rated place). Brookfield Dodge was overbooked, and I felt I needed to get it addressed ASAP. I paid the diagnostics fee. They recalibrated the throttle and cleaned the fuel injection system. They said this a great running vehicle. There is nothing left to do. I already have $370 invested in this problem, it didn't fix it. Prior to the issue, the timing belt and sparkplugs were replaced. It ran great for several months after those components were done. I have had this problem for the last 4 weeks. I am going to have to take this to brookfield Dodge, and pay the diagnostic fee again, and hope they find the problem. It is amazing to see that there are actually dozens of complaints on-line just like mine, and they are saying the problem has not been found. This is not good news for a vehicle that is supposed to be safe for the family. It seems to be engineered to shutdown, instead of just not start, which is dangerous, since 10/25/2018.

"takata recall" 2010 Dodge grand Caravan 4. 0 sxt . Power shutting down while driving on a city street . Lights flashing on and off in the dash. No check engine lights coming on. No codes showing when diagnosed. Has happened 3 times in the last week.

Vehicle dies when going down road other sources show a recall for the 2010 Caravan.

My Caravan loses all power while driving in low speeds, high speeds, over railroad tracks, on the interstate!! I have to stop immediately and restart. This is a safety issue! it happens randomly at any time, I never know when or if it will die on me. I have complained to my dealership and 2 others. They say, nothing is showing on the computer, there's nothing we can do.

The tipn is bad. We have several Dodge Caravans that have the same issue.
